Princess Mononoke is a film that best shows off man versus nature where you have the antagonist that uses modern weapons like guns and fire and arrows. Will modern to their time versus the spirits of the of the forest that might be like a large God or tentacle beasts the way how they solved it was the main characters offered. The main character is found a way to make peace between the vengeful spirit, Boers and the humans, but the spirits were mostly lost and they became a normal forest because the antagonist killed the god.

Chippendale Rescue Rangers movie blurs the line of multiple different animations to the for some characters. Other characters might be 3-D animated with tutti rotoscope. I would say it’s a live action film.
One of the conflicts between man and the natural world is pollution. This shows up in Studio Ghibli’s 2001 film, Spirited Away. Sen’s first customer is the spirit of a polluted river. They smell so bad that practically all of the staff are forcibly trying not to gag in front of the spirit. When Sen finds a bike handle sticking out of the spirit, she understands that the bike is not supposed to be there, and all of the workers work together to pull the bike , and consequently other garbage, out of the spirit.
The fight to pull the garbage out of the river spirit makes it obvious that in order to clean a river, it’s an all-hands-on-deck situation. All of the workers and guests in the bathhouse had to take a part in pulling the garbage out of the river spirit, whether it was to help pull or offer encouragement. Pollution is a man-made issue, and everyone has to participate in cleaning up the pollution for an effective solution.
The garbage is pulled out of the river spirit, and they leave Sen with a vomit-inducing dumpling as a reward. They pay the bathhouse in gold pellets.
In “Rooty Tooty Toot”, colors and patterns are used in order to portray characters and their silhouette and also the mood of the scene, such as in the bar during the flashback. It also uses these colors and lineless patterns to give the characters distinct personalities that fit with their actions and voice. I believe it is highly effective in this matter and makes for a truly unique animation. I like the choice of lines and how they interact with color to tell a story. I also enjoy the patterns as background elements because they are so complicated compared to the character that they are not your main focus because of the pattern’s lack of color. It reminds me of the opposite way to draw characters and backgrounds.
Private Snafu – Fighting Tools used humor through movement and story to get its point across. Private Snafu’s main point in Fighting Tools is to take care of your gun. For example, when Snafu was shoot at a German solider and his gun began to cough and melt into a puddle, which is quite silly and comical because now Private Snafu is left with nothing to fight with. The solider says that their weapons are ultimately better because they take care of them, and implies that Snafu should be doing the same. These small gags along with the running story of wanting to beat the enemy help get the point across. You want to beat the German army and maintain your pride so you must maintain your guns and take care of them so they actually work.
In “Steamboat Willie”, the sound is used to emphasize gags and jokes. The introductory scene is very sound-heavy, as Mickey whistling is in tune with the rest of the music and so is the wheel of the steamboat. Both of the sound’s play off each other to create a catchy tune while still being completely relevant to the story. Additionally, Mickey’s sounds are very light and upbeat compared to Pete’s sounds which are a little more menacing compared to Mickey. Music is one of the most important roles in this movie because it is used to portray the mood of the scene through what is happening around them.
Prompt 2: I would not say that this anime is really popular in the US, but it is pretty well known, the anime Nana. It belongs in the romance and drama genre of anime, The general storyline of this anime follows behind two girls with the same name, Nana, who have completely different personalities and aesthetics, but they learn to live with each other and in this journey they pursuit love and fame. This is on the streaming platform Hulu. I think this is resonating with American teens now because since trends of Y2K have been trending, there is some inspiration from this show to people’s fashion choices. Also, because this show premiered in 2006, there were some shows in the US which have had similar character/animation styles, for example, the show 6teen has a similar theme to it, and the characters resemble each other a bit. I am not sure if it is still as popular in Japan.
Prompt 2: The Czech government refused to distribute Jiří Trnka’ s “The Hand” (1965). The film represents oppressive parties during this era. I think this film was seen as subversive by the communist government at the time because it was seen as threatening and going against the Czech government.
Prompt 2: In the Private Snafu series there is some light humor, and it uses this humor to probably grasp the attention of the audience/ GIs in the military, on what to do and what not to do when handling weapons. This film does use voice, drawing, movement and use of story.
