Los es­tu­di­antes crean 4 proyec­tos dis­tin­tos en los que, entre otras ac­tivi­dades: nar­ran un evento sig­ni­fica­tivo per­sonal; dis­cuten noti­cias ac­tuales y de­scriben al­gu­nas car­ac­terísti­cas de su co­mu­nidad; in­ves­ti­gan y com­parten in­for­mación sobre los re­cur­sos co­mu­ni­tar­ios disponibles para his­panoh­ab­lantes en los cinco con­da­dos de Nueva York; anal­izan cómo las his­to­rias fa­mil­iares se rela­cio­nan con el bil­ingüismo. Course for speak­ers of Span­ish as a her­itage lan­guage who want to prac­tice and feel more con­fi­dent using Span­ish. Stu­dents cre­ate four dif­fer­ent pro­jects in which they nar­rate a sig­nif­i­cant event in their lives; dis­cuss cur­rent news; in­ves­ti­gate and share in­for­ma­tion re­gard­ing their com­mu­nity; re­flect on their fam­ily his­tory and their re­la­tion with bilin­gual­ism.

Curso diseñado para hablantes de español como lengua de herencia que quieren practicar y sentirse más cómodos usando el español como medio de expresión! Los estudiantes crean 4 proyectos distintos en los que, entre otras actividades: narran un evento significativo personal; discuten noticias actuales y describen algunas características de su comunidad; investigan y comparten información sobre los recursos comunitarios disponibles para hispanohablantes en los cinco condados de Nueva York; analizan cómo las historias familiares se relacionan con el bilingüismo. Course for speakers of Spanish as a heritage language who want to practice and feel more confident using Spanish. Students create four different projects in which they narrate a significant event in their lives; discuss current news; investigate and share information regarding their community; reflect on their family history and their relation with bilingualism.

Stu­dents com­plete the re­quired 15 hours of field­work for ECE 110 by en­rolling, at­tend­ing and par­tic­i­pat­ing in this field­work sem­i­nar. The field­work sem­i­nar will meet two hours a week at our en­rolled day/time/lo­ca­tion for the first eight weeks of the se­mes­ter. The ECE 110 field­work sem­i­nar is graded pass/fail based on at­ten­dance and par­tic­i­pa­tion in re­quired class ac­tiv­i­ties. Any stu­dent who fails the field­work sem­i­nar AU­TO­MAT­I­CALLY fails the en­tire ECE 110 course, re­gard­less of your earned grade in the lec­ture por­tion of ECE 110. At the end of this sem­i­nar, your in­struc­tor will com­plete a pass/fail form. YOU are re­spon­si­ble for giv­ing this form to your ECE 110 lec­ture in­struc­tor to en­sure that your com­ple­tion of the sem­i­nar por­tion of ECE 110 is recorded.

The fieldwork seminar will meet two hours a week at our enrolled day/time/location for the first eight weeks of the semester. The ECE 110 fieldwork seminar is graded pass/fail based on attendance and participation in required class activities. Any student who fails the fieldwork seminar AUTOMATICALLY fails the entire ECE 110 course, regardless of your earned grade in the lecture portion of ECE 110. At the end of this seminar, your instructor will complete a pass/fail form. YOU are responsible for giving this form to your ECE 110 lecture instructor to ensure that your completion of the seminar portion of ECE 110 is recorded.
