Amorita Jones joined the BMCC Learning Academy Program in 2019. Amorita is an alumna of BMCC, who then went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Lehman College. Before joining the team, Amorita was as an advisor with CUNY EDGE at John Jay College working with students that have active public assistance cases while attending CUNY. There she advised juniors and incoming transfer students. She is also a First-Generation College student, which inspired her to launch the student support group, First in My Family for CUNY EDGE students at JJC. She is passionate about investing in youth through educational opportunities and believes education is crucial in maneuvering systemic barriers and empowering communities.
