The Joneses

I would categorize the way the Jones family lives as personal selling. Not all families are as selling as the Joneses but they knew how to sell. By selling people on “themselves” they were able to sell everything else. By incorporating their lifestyle, they were able to build communication with customers (neighborhood) and show how to use the product efficiently.

A brand that I would compare to the Joneses marketing tactics would be Good American. This brand does not only sell denim and clothing, they sell a lifestyle. Khloe Kardashian being the face of this brand allows customers to imagine themselves in her jeans. In addition, by having famous women of all shapes and colors model to market the clothing is a great way for the buyers to relate to one another. They demonstrate in order to deliver just like when Steve showed off his golf clubs.

The Joneses did not use an ethical approach to marketing. They lived a lie in order to manipulate a neighborhood into buying product. Instead of trying to relate to customers, they acted as the perfect family in order for people to want to relate to them which leads to having their product sold. I don’t believe this to be ethical behavior but it did get sales up.

Most brands use a similar method through social media.

If I were friends with the Joneses Family I would think of them as lovely people. Since there is no such thing as a perfect family, I might envy them for being so perfect.  I would not let that in the way of me being a genuine friend and would enjoy their company regarding their positive presence. After finding out their secret, I would feel betrayed. It would have bothered me to have been manipulated into thinking people are not who they seem to be, especially my neighbors.

Consumer Decision Making – The Most Convinient

There are many cities known for their delicious food, and Salt Lake City, Utah is definitely one of them. After doing some research on the best Italian food in the area I found quite a few options.

While considering restaurants I had to be sure there were no-meat options. It was not a big problem since all Italian restaurants serve vegetarian dishes.

When I order food, I like something quick and easy. I don’t mind picking up my order but sometimes I prefer having it delivered. While exploring some restaurants in Salt Lake City, there were many restaurants that offered both. Another requirement I have when getting my food delivered, I prefer to not spend too much money since I don’t get the full experience. I am generally not picky with what I eat, and I am open to anything, except for meat of course.

One restaurant that caught my eye was The Old Spaghetti Factory. I found this restaurant by searching up the best, most reasonably priced Italian food “near me” and this was the first result. The restaurant has 2.9K reviews and 4.3 stars on Google. I started by reading Google reviews and they were pretty good. Most customers described the food as delicious and authentic. I found the prices to be okay since many reviews said the portions are very generous. They deliver on almost any app and are open for pickup. However, after digging deeper several people found inconsistencies with food quality, which ultimately was the deal breaker for me. I appreciate consistency and dislike getting my food worse than it was “last time.”

Valter’s Oateria is another restaurant that instantly popped up and was reviewed by many blogs. The pictures of the food made my mouth water. The food was well presented and looked so tasty. They have 4.6 starts with an enormous amount of reviews, 2.6K. People on all different websites described it as fantastic, phenomenal, excellent and “HANDS DOWN the best restaurant.” The down side of this restaurant was the price. Although it is a fancy restaurant, I prefer not to spend a-lot of money on takeout. If I am spending that kind of money, I would rather a dine in experience. It was available for take out but not delivery.

The last restaurant, and the one I chose as my favorite in Salt Lake City was Sicilia Pizza & Kitchen. I did some research on reasonable food and this looked like the most convenient one. It has 4.3 starts and over 800 reviews. People described it as fresh and consistent. I am amazed by the prices considering many restaurants were pricey especially when the delivery fee is involved. A  pizza was around $13 while the competitors were priced close to $30. It was available for delivery, pickup, and dine in.

Week B

The organization I choose for this Assignment is Trader Joe’s. Trader Joe’s is a U-S based grocery store. This supermarket can be found in counties all over the world.

The primary reason I wanted to write this short essay on Trader Joes is because of the extraordinary service. From the employees to the clients, it is the absolute best. The employees are extremely kind and helpful and efficient. When looking for something specific they will immediately help the client. If they can’t seem to find the particular item, they will do their best to find in it their backroom. When finishing looking around, the line might seem long sometimes, but goes so fast because of their organized team. They take everything out of your basket, scan the items, and bag them without letting you touch a thing. All with the biggest smile on their face no matter the employee. The service is as good as a five star hotel.

Living in New York can be expensive and sometimes buying groceries can be equivalent to going out for dinner. Trader Joes is the solution for many people. They sell good food for reasonable prices.

Trader Joes contributes to their local communities. They organize donations, they donate food and beverages to as many organizations they can for people in need. They also donate 100% of their products that go unsold.

As much good as Trader Joes does for their community, I believe they should work on their packaging to be more sustainable. It would be amazing if they were able to find a solution to reduce the amount of materials they use. For example, they can try to use renewable and recyclable materials. Not only for the planet but for the harmful substances.

I thank Trader Joe’s for their friendly team and always leaving their store with a smile.
