Week D Assignment

Due to modern-day technology, it is rather easy to find information about anything once you have internet access. So, I started with google to see what Italian restaurants were out there in Salt Lake City. I saw a website listing the 10 best Italian restaurants available, so I went on in viewing my options. After viewing them I went onto each website to see the location and see the pictures that previous customers would have posted and the ratings of the restaurants.

Personally, I am not a big Italian dish person however I do love pizza and pasta which are 2 dishes famously known to be Italian dishes. Due to this, I had to decide between Settebello for they serve one of the best pizzas in Salt Lake City, and Osteria Amore for they serve one of the best plates of pasta in Salt Lake City according to google of course.

After discovering the above, first, I started looking into Settebello Restaurant on google they had a 4.5-star rating which Is very good. Their online menu showed that their pricing is somewhat affordable. Everyone says the pizza is delicious and the environment is clean and nice. The restaurant also got a lot of hype for being authentic and having wood-burning stoves to make the pizzas the old-fashioned way. The restaurant also offered indoor dine-in and take-out, but they offered no delivery.

I then checked out the Osteria Amore Restaurant on google they had a 4.6-star rating which is also good. Their prices were more expensive than the Settebello Restaurant, but it was still somewhat affordable. The meal that I was interested in on the menu was listed as a favorite so it has to be good. They also had a few nice desserts on their menu which people seemed to enjoy on their visit. The restaurant also offers in-door and out-door dine-in services.

In the end, after looking into both restaurants I would choose to eat at the Osteria Amore Restaurant since they had a higher star rating, and their food looks delicious based on the online images. They have deserts as well as a wine list. They offer guests an outdoor dining experience. They have a lot of good online reviews and honestly, I would choose to eat pasta over pizza since it is more filling, and who would say no to desserts?

In conclusion, I would say that the consumer decision-making process has a lot to do with what the consumer is looking for, what interest’s the consumer, and what gets the consumer’s attention. At the same time, the consumer is also concerned about what other consumers would have said or reviewed the restaurants as. Marketing in this case was based on the reviews of others since the consumer was in a different environment and was unable to see marketing from the restaurant itself. I also think that overall, everyone’s preferences vary but we all do look for the best option to go with.

Week D assignment

Because I just moved to Salt Lake City, and if I want to eat Italian food, I will first search for Italian restaurants on yelp or Google, or ask passers-by which Italian restaurants are the most popular nearby.  First of all, I am looking for the best Italian food in Salt Lake on Google. Then there are several popular recommendations, Valter’s Osteria, Osteria Amore, and Caffe Molise. Then the ratings of these three are above 4.5 , and each store has hundreds or more than a thousand people commenting. And these three companies do not have deliver, only dine in and pick up,Then I went to see the special dishes and prices of each store, as well as the photo environment,In the end I chose Osteria Amore.Because the environment makes people feel very comfortable, the more modern style and the reviews are all positive, and the dishes in the photos look delicious. Especially the lights at night and the delicious food will make people feel happy. Then I will choose to eat pasta, dessert and a meat staple, and the per capita price of this restaurant is 70➕. This price is affordable, and I can try some new cuisines. If this restaurant cannot dine in, I will Go to caffe molise, because it is only eight minutes by car, the distance is very close, and the price of caffe molise is affordable, then I packed my luggage and went to the restaurant to eat, because I think there will not be many people around three or four in the afternoon, so Choose to eat at that time then enjoy my dine.In the end, I am satisfied with my choice, because this store is what I searched on the Internet, and the food photos and environment are all I am most satisfied with, and the price is also affordable, try new things, and then discuss with colleagues or others I give feedback about the restaurant/company with questions or problems with the food. Ask the staff to introduce the food method,Since consumer decisions are different for everyone, my preferences may be completely different from someone else’s, leading to different results. Preferences may also vary based on a restaurant’s prices, whether it’s affordable, mid-range or expensive.

Consumer Decision Making

If I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in search of some Italian food I would do my usual procedure when it comes to finding the best spot out of every possibility out there. I would use the internet and take in count what the people on the internet are saying and posting. I’m the type of person that strictly goes to a restaurant that has at least 4 stars out of 5 not to be picky but i just want food that’s worth my money.  Which brings me to me my other factor which is affordability, some places charge ridiculous prices with small portions so for this I would dig more deep and head over to their menu/ prices. I believe a restaurant should have an updated menu every so often in terms of keeping it modern and up to standards, I believe this would draw more customers in instead of looking at a years old menu. I also favor authentic food over everything therefore  I would look out for it if the owners are from Italian descent. When it comes to casual over fancy I prefer casual. It doesn’t have to be the most fancy looking but I do believe scenery matters to me depending on the occasion of going out to eat. Some factors I would consider would be seeing how long the business has been open. This would allow me to know that people around the neighborhood are coming back and enjoy what the restaurant has to offer. This might sound like the most obvious answer but there’s more to it because I’m the type of person to analyze almost every little thing because I  want to make sure my money is going to the right company and people.

The restaurants that caught my eyes were  called Salt & Olive and Celeste Ristorante.

In regard to Salt & Olive this restaurant is known for its authenticity and it’s a plus for me since it’s family owned, which I’m all for because I love supporting family owned businesses. This restaurant has 4.5 stars out of 5 with over 200+ reviews and not to mention all the reviews are good with high quality pictures which make it more eye appealing to the customer. The scenery is calm with a touch of fancy to it which was well captured by the customers. The restaurant is known for excellent customer service by the staff in which they offer private rooms for reservation gatherings which is  always a plus for me so this drew my attention towards this restaurant. On the other hand Celeste Ristorante is also known for a true authentic experience as well as being family owned. This restaurant has a rating of 4.8 stars out of 5 with over 300+ which is a bit more than my other pick but i’ll take a a restaurant close to 5 stars. The downside of this one compared to the other hand is its more pricey for almost the same foods which sometimes I question as why restaurants do that which makes me draw to the other restaurant again. The scenery of this restaurant is more old school and almost looks like you’ll feel like you’ll  be in Italy. When it comes to picking one and drawing out my factors mentioned,  I’ll stick to Salt and Olive, I feel like it suits my style of comfort and affordability with good services. According to the consumer decision making process this restaurant felt like the right place that had what I was looking for. As humans we are more targeted to where the people are going to and leaving pictures and reviews for the next customers. I believe this helps the restaurants stay in business because it is out in the public for everyone to read about which is the good thing of technology, it allows us to research in just a click of a button.

Consumer Decision Making

I just moved to Salt Lake City in Utah with my family. We are excited and looking for a nice Italian restaurant to have dinner. Our preferences are for a beautiful restaurant to dine in, with a welcoming but elegant environment to enjoy delicious food and celebrate the new change of surroundings. We are planning to split the bill, and didn’t mind if the place was a little expensive as we hoped to get a higher level experience.

Since we don’t know the area or people to help us find a good place, we have decided to start searching places on Google. I clicked on one of the first links that I saw after typing “Italian restaurants.” The first option that captivated our attention is Valter’s Osteria because it has the best ratings on the website and it seemed it could provide us with a cozy but fancy atmosphere. However, a few people in the reviews were complaining about it being over priced. We’re looking for something fancy and would be willing to pay a little more than what we usually would for a regular dinner, as long as we are satisfied with the experience at the best price, of course. So we are going to save that one as a good option and keep searching for a few more restaurants. The next one is Settebello Pizzeria. We quickly realized that this wasn’t a good option for us because, not only people claimed it to be overpriced in the reviews, but also they didn’t have many food options and we weren’t very fond of the appearance of the establishment. As I noticed that the options in the list were not as accurate with our preferences, I finally proceeded to search “Italian restaurants to dine in,” and it looked like I found the options that were more popular, with good ratings and aligning with the type of place we were looking for. After scrolling down we saw some incredible choices we liked, but ended up choosing Caffe Molise immediately. This place showed the best quality food, at a reasonable price, that you wouldn’t get to taste in the daily and the pictures of the place showed such a warm, eccentric and luxurious environment we couldn’t resist to disregard the other options.

After the decision-making process, I realized that it is easier to find what you are looking for if you have well defined requirements of what you want and need. Once you have a clear idea of what is important and what are only preferences, making comparisons and taking into account the reviews of other people that have experienced the service, as well as the pictures and ratings of the place, can help you decide more accurately without risking your chances. In this particular case, my preferences were for an aesthetically pleasing and fancy food restaurant to dine in with family. I wasn’t caring as much for the price, but it did influence my decision, since I was looking for quality experience and, as we probably know, expensive is not always worth the price.

Consumer Decision Making

In today’s day and age of the internet, the consumer has the advantage of comparing businesses and reviewing the consumer’s experience of a certain business. It’s no longer a word-of-mouth recommendation from a biased local. In a hypothetical scenario, I’ll research Italian restaurants in Salt Lake City, and choose a restaurant I would spend my hard earned money on. This process of elimination would be based on the first three steps of my consumer decision-making process.

The first step in the decision-making process is the need recognition phase. In this phase, the consumer recognizes a need for a service or product. In my scenario, this would mean that I identified my need for a tasty Italian dish in Salt Lake City. This need could be possibly met because there are numerous Italian restaurants in Salt Lake City. The need recognition step is satisfied. The next step of the consumer decision-making process is information search.

The information search phase is when the consumer may want more information regarding their need. For my Italian restaurant research in Salt Lake City, the first step I would do is open my web browse and access google.com. I opt for google.com because the reviews are plentiful, recent, and made by real people. The alternative review source is Yelp, but it’s in a state of decline so it isn’t as robust as google. Next I would search for Italian restaurants in Salt Lake City. From that list, I’ll narrow it down further to restaurants having a 4.5 stars rating or higher. This is done to reduce the chances of having a bad experience based on the experiences of previous consumers. Not all reviews are truthful, so it’s best to be alert for this possibility. Finally, I’ll choose the dining experience that best suits my personality. My dining preference is a casual setting. I can find my casual preference from reviewing the photos of the dining area, the attire of the restaurant staff, and reviews from customers. I selected my three choices and am ready to spend, however it’s wise to have an alternative option should my plan go south.

In the evaluation of alternative steps, the consumer may deem a alternative service or product as a viable choice. The factors that lead to this conclusion stems from the difficulty of narrowing down options, time wasted, money costs, or buyer’s remorse from the belief of a choosing a bad product. My alternative option for Italian food is Applebee’s, a chain restaurant. Applebee’s provides a feeling of safety because this chain is known throughout the nation as a family friendly restaurant that serves quality food. The Italian dishes may be limited, but you can certainly find a pasta dish in their menu. However, I’m sticking with my guns and want to eat at a non-chain restaurant in Salt Lake City.

I chose Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana as my choice for eating Italian food. I made this choice via the research I made on google. Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana met all the criteria I was looking for. This restaurant has 2,800 reviews and has an average rating of 4.5. Moreover, the pictures show that dining here is a pleasant and casual experience. The consumers are dressed in casual clothes and are seated in front of delicious looking dishes, The tables seems like tables you would have at home, adding to the casual atmosphere. Overall the experience can be time consuming, but with internet (specifically google), the decision-making process is smooth, and more preferable than the ancient method of targeted paper ads that I get still get in my mailbox.

If I moved to Salt Lake City, I would first decide what kind of I food I want. If I want Italian food, I will first google it and search for a restaurant that is near to me. I will look for the service option if they have a pickup, dining, or delivery. Furthermore, I will check the menu to see what kind of specialties they have. I will check to see if the restaurant has a reservation or walk-in.  Lastly, I will check for the review and ratings of each restaurant to see if they have a nice service and the price. While I am searching for the restaurant and the reviews, I prefer something that is a good mixture of both fancy and casual although the taste of the food is more important attribute for me. I will choose pickup rather than delivery because they tend to charge more for delivery service. One of the restaurants that I found interesting was Salt and Olive which has good reviews and 4.5 ratings out of 146 reviews. The interesting part was their pictures that were posted online which I found through search engines. When I went to their reviews, it was good and my top priority is if they have a timely and friendly service because sometimes when you order your food, it will take a long time to get the food. Most of the people reviewed their good food.

Caffe Molise is my first choice because it is budget-friendly and has good reviews. I chose it since it has 4.5 ratings out of 2.6k reviews. The Caffe Molise has a live jazz trio for those who enjoy music during their meal and is kid-friendly for those who have kids. They have handicapped access plus an elevator, and they have a garden patio for those who want to eat outdoors. Also, they have a parking lot.

I found out that most consumers look for the same thing as myself such as good food, customer service, the menu, and the service option. Customer service is equally important as good food and can be the top priority for the most consumer.

Consumer Design Making – Italian Restaurant

If I were to relocate to Salt Lake City and was interested in finding a good Italian restaurant to get food, the first thing I would do is look through the online reviews and how many stars the restaurant has. My personal preference would be to dine at a restaurant that is four and a half stars or higher with an A health inspection grade.  If a restaurant can meet those criteria then I would be open to eating there.  I prefer casual restaurants but I do not mind a fancy restaurant from time to time and I also have no preference when it comes to the price of the food.  Being in a new environment I would go to the restaurant in person but as time goes by I would want the option of ordering takeout or delivery.  Ordering food for delivery can sometimes be exasperating with how much food gets stolen and the possibility of items being left out of the order.  The majority of the restaurants that I researched offer delivery so the option of delivery shouldn’t be a problem as long as it is done in an orderly fashion.

The restaurant that I ended up choosing is named Caffé Molise.  Caffé Molise is located in downtown Salt Lake City, the scenery is nice and the area is active, the restaurant is casual and also can hold pre-theatre, opera, symphonies, and concerts, or it can be a sporting event dining location. There is outside dining on their garden patio and the location of the restaurant is fitting for someone who has just moved to Salt Lake City.  The prices are also great, the highest-priced item on the menu is the bistecca which is just under forty dollars.

Caffé Molise is great but there are some other restaurants that fit my criteria like The Old Spaghetti Factory and Stone Ground Italian Kitchen, in the end, I selected  Caffé Molise because of the authenticity and the lively surroundings and even though I dont mind high prices and the reviews about how customers are treated was what solidified my choice.  Caffé Molise is affordable and the food is high quality. While researching these Italian restaurants in Salt lake City I learned how much a review can affect decision-making when it comes to choosing a place to eat. One bad review can be the reason I dont choose a restaurant.  Everyone has different requirements when it comes to where they want to eat, I’m always open to new experiences and will give most respectable establishments a chance while others might draw the line at a bad review or not care about reviews at all.

Customer Decision Making

If I started living in Salt Lake City, Utah I would want to research what types of food and restaurants that are available to me and see if I can satisfy my craving for Italian food. First thing I usually do when I am new to an area is contact family and friends who know the area well. I typically find very good recommendations from acquaintances because we tend to have similar tastes in food because most of the time we spend together is at a restaurant or ordering takeout. After getting the recommendations, next, I will look at my UberEats and Seamless app and search for the top three Italian restaurants based on price, reviews and menu selection. Need recognition will help me narrow my selection process. Assuming I’m alone,  I normally tend to order take out. The buying and research process is exclusively done online. That means I am looking to order casually. I am willing to pick up the food however I would prefer delivery in under an hour and the price has to be reasonable for casual dining. Information searching is a simple enough process for me. I will scan the menu to make sure that there is enough variety, but not too many items because I’m usually skeptical of restaurants with a lengthy menu, fearing that some of the food might suffer in quality. Next I’ll read the ten most recent reviews and their top reviews. Many restaurants have had to change their menu and the ingredients they use because of inflation and high interest rates. Reading reviews gives me a solid idea of how things were a year ago and where they are now in terms of customer satisfaction and food quality. After I rounded up my top 3 Italian restaurants, the next step is value for dollar. I want to be able to have appetizers, main dishes, desserts and snacks for later. Affordability will play an important part. My selection process has led to my decision, picking Siragusa’s Taste of Italy. Great reviews, affordable and they offer Early Bird Specials. I realized my consumer decision-making process is simple and intuitive. Breaking it down helped me observe my sorting process and it usually takes little time once I’ve identified my craving. My preferences compare to other consumers because their decision making process might be similar to mine once broken down. People want things done in a timely manner. And when it comes to food cravings, restaurants have their work cut out for them because their first impression is crucial, and likely the determining factor if someone will be a repeat customer.

Consumer Decision Making

If I was to move out to Salt Lake City and was looking for an Italian restaurant I would go on google and search up Italian restaurants near me. I would look for a fancy Italian restaurant since I am new to the city. Once I get used to the place I would go for casual food and once in a while I would pick fancy food. The first thing I would do is go through the restaurants to see which one has the best rating and reviews. I would then start looking at pictures of the food and see what looks good to me. I also have to see how the customer service is at the restaurant I go to because sometimes restaurants have bad customer service and have to wait a long time to get your food. However, personally I would go pick up my food. I would not want to do delivery and have someone bring my food. Even though I tried it many times, I did not like it. Sometimes they can mess up your order and give you something you did not ask for and by the time you get your food it will be cold. The restaurant I chose that caught my eyes is Osteria Amore. This restaurant has a rating of 4.6. This has caught my eyes because I looked at the photos of the food on their website and it looks amazing. They have different varieties of pasta and pizza. Some of the food on the menu can be a bit pricey but I believe the food will be amazing from the photos I have seen on their website. The restaurant looks nice and organized from the inside and outside. You can either eat inside or outside. They have tables set up outside so that people can eat outside if they like. Another thing that I liked about this restaurant is you can do curbside pickup. Curbside pickup is where you can place an order online and drive to the restaurant and wait near the entrance in your car so you do not have to get out. And when the food is ready a store associate will bring the order to them. I would not go to this restaurant daily since it is pricey. I would go once in a while like if you go out with friends or with family members. My preference would be different from other customers because I do not eat out that much. I don’t like to pay for expensive food unless it is for special occasions like going out with family or friends. I do not like eating that much fast food restaurants or Italian foods because eating out is not healthy for you. I mainly like eating home cooked food because it is better and healthier.

Weed D Assignment

If I were to move to Salt Lake City and one day, I am craving Italian food, I would first use google to my advantage and do some research. I would have already recognised my need by craving a specific kind of food. My next step would be information research. In modern day, we are fortunate enough to be able to google almost anything. I would do my research to find out the best restaurant to suit my need. To find this out I would ask myself the following questions, which Italian restaurant has a good rating? which Italian restaurant is not too expensive? which Italian restaurant is closest? And do they do delivery?
My next step would be to choose and evaluate my options after doing my research. The first restaurant that captured my eye was Caffe Molise. This is so because it was the first restaurant that came up on google. Their food looked good from the photos on their website home page, however, there were very few photos of the food and the menu did not have pictures. Additionally, they do not offer delivery. I can use an alternative source for delivery such as uber eats. However, it is quite pricey, sometimes your orders are not correct , your food can come cold and take a long time if the driver has several deliveries from different restaurants. That option lost my interest right away since I do enjoy the comfort of my home while enjoying a good meal. The second option that caught my eye was Café Trio. This was because they had a brunch menu which the first restaurant did not have. Most appealing was their prices. It was cheaper compared to most other Italian restaurants. However, from my research on google, they do not offer delivery. Lastly, their rating was lower compared to most, it was 4.3 while most other restaurants were at least 4.5 and up.
Eventually, I decided to choose Stone Ground Italian Kitchen. This restaurant captured my choice because they offer takeout on their website. Secondly, their rating is 4.5 with professional photos taken that make the food look absolutely delicious and well presented. Thirdly, are their prices. Not only do their food look appetizing, but it is also affordable compared to a few others. Fourthly, they offer a dine in experience with a lay back, rustic atmosphere. You can dress casually or you can dress formal if you’d like. I like that option because I don’t always feel like dressing up but sometimes, I do feel like going out. Therefore, whether I choose to drive, walk or take a cab there I know I will feel comfortable. Also, if I do not feel like going out, I can use their delivery service.
Our post-purchase evaluation is the last stage in our decision-making process. I do not usually leave a review on websites. I think I have under looked the importance of doing so since consumers reviews can help to make restaurants do better by improving in ways they would not otherwise know if not for our feedback. I have now learnt the importance of this through the decision-making process. Our good reviews are just as important as the bad ones which we are quicker to make because it can also help businesses gain more customers.
My preference may be different from some because I normally look for the restaurant with not the cheapest food nor the most expensive food. I like to purchase food that are affordable but tasty. Some people prefer a fancy restaurant with beautiful décor and ambiance but do not put that much importance on the taste of the food. Their focus may be to have a nice atmosphere for a night or day, regardless of the price. Some may prefer both , great food and great ambiance regardless of how expensive it may be. Their main focus are good drinks , atmosphere and entertainment that may be offered for the price. This is also because a restaurant may be famous for other things but people may think they are the best so they continue to purchase their food. Some believe that because a restaurant may be expensive their food has to be the best. On the other hand, I favour a tasty meal at an affordable price with a simple, relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. One where I can visit at any time of the day for dine in , takeout or have delivery. I do not like paying a lot of money for food that does not taste good or is not worth the price.
