Week H The Joneses

The Joneses

I would not include the lifestyle of the Joneses family in my sales because their sales are based on lies, especially the moment when Steve showed gold jewelry to a neighbor and showed how much he loves his “wife”. I don’t think this is an ethical way to sell jewelry because there is a lie behind this deal.
The similarity between the sales of the Joneses family and other brands is only that they correctly identified the direction of the goods and consumers who would be interested, for example, Kate demonstrated hair care products in a beauty salon, Mick demonstrated video games and other goods at school, this logical because teenagers and schoolchildren love video games. This family put on a professional marketing ploy using a self-hosted show where they portrayed an exemplary, wealthy family. Having established a customer base in residential area, Kate and Steve began to study what the people around them wanted, and starting from this, to demonstrate products, Kate went out for a walk-in beautiful sportswear, where women later bought the same clothes.

I believe that the method of sales was not ethical, because, as I wrote above, the goods were sold fraudulently and moreover, even led to the death of a neighbor, because the neighbor wanted exactly the kind of life that the Jonos had. I would feel uncomfortable with this family, probably because I’m not the kind of person who wears the most expensive clothing brands, lives in a luxurious house and drives expensive cars. But if that were to happen, I would be insanely interested in what kind of business this family has to allow them to live a luxurious life. I think this question should have been asked by the neighbors in the first place.

After I found out their secret, I think I would be very disappointed because I do not like deceitful people, and especially those who are trying to profit on a lie, as the Jonos family did.

Animal Care Center (ACC) is a non-profit corporation created to provide animal care and control services in New York City. ACC has three animal care centers located in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island, as well as receiving centers in the Bronx and Queens. The ACC calls on the public to save homeless, hungry and injured animals. Whether people come to their shelters because of homelessness, family crisis or abuse, they don’t turn away a single animal in need.

People from all over New York come to the animal care centers every day for a variety of reasons such as returning lost animals, adopting new pets, and for resources to help them care for their pets. The company strives to find loving homes for homeless animals by adopting animals directly to the public and by partnering with over 200 organizations.

The company encourages people to save animals and also accepts a one-time and monthly donation. Anyone can make a small contribution to helping little furry friends through Venmo, Amazon, Chewy, and even cryptocurrencies. What’s more, ACC is a great place to find your little furry friend. ACC volunteers play a central role in the welfare of animals in care centers. Volunteers help care for and house shelter animals, caregivers, animals in need, and provide valuable administrative and fundraising support.

Product Concepts Example

Most of all I liked the product with dog beds.  The guys said that one of them, working as a barista, saw how the dog was basking in the couch and he also wanted to relax like that.  They presented a beautiful product with good texture and material, large size suitable for both adult and child.  The idea was created in such a way that a person, being in a couch, will feel comfortable and will not need a pillow, except for a blanket.
 I think the guys have created a great product that will fill the gap of many people, because there are no such beds for people on sale, and as one of the guys said he tried to find something similar on the Internet, but he failed, because there is no such product.  This product can have excellent demand not only among ordinary people.  I think that the product is perfect for a cafe, you can imagine a food cafe where you can not only have a bite to eat but also relax.  For example, imagining the popular Starbucks coffee shop, usually people always sit there, drink coffee and work or study at the computer, what if an additional room is placed in the cafe for those who would like to lie down and relax during their break.  There are cinemas with beds where people lie on beds and watch movies, so why not do something similar with a cafe, but in this case, people can lie down in a couch after a cup of coffee to relax or just work directly from the couch.
 The process that facilitates this product is that people will buy it, this is what creates comfort and relaxation, and as you know, all people like to relax.  You can have such a product not only in a cafe, but also take it with you on hiking to relax on the road or sleep in a tent, or even take it to the office to take a nap during a break.
 People will definitely like the product because, as I already wrote, people like to relax, and this is exactly what you need when there is no bed or sofa nearby, for example, let’s say a person has a break of 1.5-2 hours, he is very tired and it is very far to go home and it will take  a lot of time, in this case the couch will be a great alternative to the bed.
 It is better to position this product from advertising, because as it became clear this product is not yet on the market and people simply do not know about it, good advertising will attract more buyers, it is also possible to offer several loungers for cafes or even libraries to test how people relate to  this type of conduct.
 It seems to me that a backpack-bag is suitable for packing such a bed for ease of transportation, the convenience of just hanging it on your shoulder or throwing it in the trunk of a car, it would also be great to offer more choice of shades for lovers of brighter or vice versa for those who work in the office more nude colors.
 The name of the product must be chosen such that it would be associated with rest or sleep.  A beautiful, bright name on the package will give more benefits because, based on the “wow effect”, many people buy only because of the bright flash in their head.

Consumer Decision Making

For my report, I chose three Italian restaurants. I always do research and characteristics of the restaurant through Google map, because I see live photos of customers and the restaurant, rating, location, menu and reviews.

1. Celeste Ristorante.
2. Sicily Mia
3. Osteria Amore
All three restaurants have a rating of at least 4.5
They have menus with detailed descriptions of the ingredients.
The food in the photo looks appetizing and beautiful.
Affordable price range.
When it comes to restaurants, especially Italian ones, I usually go for gourmet cuisine. The fact is that I don’t often visit restaurants, because I really like to cook food myself, when I still decide to order food from a restaurant, it’s usually either an important date or some kind of event, which is why I tend to gourmet cuisine. Usually, I don’t pick up food but arrange delivery through DoorDash or UberEats, it saves time.

Of the three restaurants listed above, I would stop at Celeste Ristorante, this restaurant has a rating of 4.8 out of 5, before me the rating is the most important aspect when choosing food, the second aspect is photos and customer reviews, Celeste Ristorante has beautiful photos, the food looks very appetizing and beautiful, many positive reviews. I also always check the website of the restaurant because usually the website has a menu, the Celeste Ristorante has a detailed description of the ingredients which is important to me because I am allergic to certain foods. And the last important point for me is the packaging, after the food is delivered, I always pay attention to how the dishes are packed, it happened to me a couple of times that during delivery, the containers were not tightly closed and the sauce leaked into the package, for me this indicates the negligence of the restaurant or about how they use low-quality containers.

I usually call the process of studying a restaurant “search” because I always look for restaurants through the Google map, I always look at restaurants with a rating of at least 4.5 out of 5. Because I know from my own experience that the lower the rating, the more likely it is that the food will disappoint me. As I wrote above, Celeste Ristorante has a high rating of photos and reviews, which is why I settled on it, but I would also like to try two other restaurants, and as I said that the rating is important to me, therefore Celeste Ristorante wins here despite the fact that the prices for the dishes are slightly higher than the previous restaurants.
In the process of making consumer decisions, I realized for myself that it is important to evaluate the steps, such as a detailed study of the restaurant (rating, reviews, photos), evaluation of alternative restaurants, decision making in the choice and evaluation after consumption.
My preference is gourmet food because I don’t often take takeout or delivery food, I think that’s what distinguishes me from most consumers because many people order food several times a day and every day, I order food rarely and therefore I choose a good restaurant. even if the price is higher than the market, usually dinner in a good restaurant is not cheap, people usually do not buy three meals a day in expensive restaurants, choosing alternative and cheaper but with good quality.

I chose my favorite Barnes&Noble store.  I chose this store because I can always feel the atmosphere of comfort, the smell of new, recently printed books and the opportunity to just sit and read any of the books.
 Barnes & Noble began in 1873 when Charles M. Barnes started his book-selling business from his home in Illinois.  During the Great Depression, Barnes & Noble was first opened in New York on 5th Avenue.  This store has gained a worldwide reputation serving millions of customers with a wide selection of books from novels to scientific titles and textbooks, as well as medical books.
 It is Barnes & Noble’s policy to conduct its business with the highest levels of integrity, ethics and compliance with the law.  According to their Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, which applies not only to employees but also to directors and senior officers, it covers a wide range of business practices and procedures.  The Code states that all employees must follow the highest ethical standards and make every effort to avoid inappropriate behavior.  Violation of the code is severely punished and may result in dismissal.

 My recommendation for Barnes & Noble would be to support orphanages in education, young children without families need proper education and educational conditions.  I think support for orphanages where orphans live needs help from such large companies, especially when the company sells books and supports educational institutions.
