The Joneses assignment ( Week H )

Watching the movie “the Joneses” was an eye-opener. I enjoyed watching the movie and seeing all the stealth marketing techniques to sell products; it was good. After watching the movie, I Would categorize the Jones family’s lives as personal selling because they exhibited all the traits that would make them personal sellers. They did this by using demonstrations and  Conversation in the movie. They started by demonstrating the neighbors, school kids, and Housewives products like makeup, golf clubs, and even cars. And how they did it that was by first conversing with people and starting up relationships to influence others to buy products, Like how demi moor’s character built up a relationship with Billy, her hairdresser, to influence him to buy products for his hair salon later on. And how David Duchovny demonstrated the lawn chair with a tv as he conversated with the guys at a game of golf. The characters that played their children even demonstrated Personal selling clothes, lipsticks, and skateboards using the same tactics demi Moore’s character was doing, but just personal selling through the Teen market.

Demonstration and conversation are similar to the sales tactics of “the Jones family” and my favorite brand marketing tactics. I say this because, in the movie, from the neighbor’s point of view, they see the joneses as a friendly family, even friends they trust. So By the Joneses Striking up these fake meaningful conversations, highlighting the advantageous features of the products while having this influence over these people, the Joneses were able to sell these products to anybody that would listen. And relatability also helps sell because it makes people want to buy a product because of the accuracy and honesty when selling a product, Pretty how the neighbors and friends felt about The joneses’ opinions on the products. For example, the company “La Roch posay” face counter in Ulta. They market their products by having someone who works for the company help Retail sales and conversate. The La Roche posay seller strikes up a conversation with a customer and tells them about all the products, and they ask the customers what their skin problems are and how their products could help them. By just doing that, the retail worker already grasps the customers’ attention with a friendly conversation, talking about their skin problems to make them feel comfortable. During the conversation, to influence the customer more, they tend to point out how the company uses real people by showing their textured skin on their campaigns and websites and the before and after of using the products. They Promote how the company uses regular people to relate to consumers to buy the products. Also, to help consumers buy, they demonstrate how the products work by letting customers try the products in the store. So customers can test it and see how the products are first hand. This simple way of personal selling by conversation and demonstration makes consumers want to buy, which is pretty much the movie’s whole premise.

After reading the course materials and watching the movie, Some may say it wasn’t ethical because they lied to people. But what they were doing in the movie is what people do today. And I believe that the products being marketed in this movie were ethical because the characters in the movie were personally selling while influencing consumers. When the time this movie came out, we rarely had influencers. Now we have millions of personal sellers, aka influencers, on every social media platform demonstrating Digital Marketing, who are social media Joneses today. These new personal sellers are now selling products online, making deals with brands creating buzz engaging in social media. The only difference in the movie is that these characters are going to real towns, meeting real people, striking up conversations, and being influencers to sell products. An excellent example of the characters being influencers is when Demi Moore made all the neighborhood moms get new Walking gear just because Demi walked by them days prior with new gear. By Demi’s character, just saying “hi “and wearing something new influenced others to buy. It’s the same as what many do today to help sell products. So it’s ethical; it’s just that the movie makes these characters personally sell in person. It’s the same but done differently, making it ethical.

Lastly, How would I feel if I were friends with one of the Jones family before I knew the secret, I would be neutral. I would see them as a friend with wealthy parents. I say this because I wouldn’t care about what new things they got. After all, they might have some products I might not like or want. I might be inspired by some of the products they sell. But I’m not going to be full-on trying to get everything they have; it’s just not me. In my eyes, there are just rich kids getting what they want. After finding the secret afterward, I would feel the same. I probably wouldn’t have seen the jones kids as real friends because I wouldn’t like being best friends with someone who constantly shows off their new things all the time; it would give off narcissistic vibes. So I wouldn’t be hurt or surprised.

Week F Product Concepts (Shark Tank)

After watching Shark tank and seeing all the fantastic pitches, I would say the one that resonated with me the most was “Bridal babes.” I liked the couple’s pitch because having Fashionable bridesmaid dresses for all body types and being affordable sounded like a perfect business idea. I found myself drawn to this pitch because, in the past, I was also that bridesmaid at a wedding, struggling to find a dress that fit my body type. So to see this company being successful with inclusivity and Affordability was terrific. After watching their pitch and listening to their ideas, I noticed how confused Mark and Robert were. I noticed they needed to figure out what gap this product would fill. This company fills in the inclusivity gap in the market for different body types and sizes and Affordability in bridesmaid wear. Sizing inclusivity is often overlooked in the clothing market, especially in bridalwear. So to see a company that caters to all body types, all sizes, and all skin colors while still having pretty designs in the wedding industry is a first because not many do this, and there is nothing like it in the market.

I think consumers should not only want this product but feel that they NEED it because there are no other bridesmaid dress companies like “Bridal Babes.” There’s no other bridal company that will accommodate women a size over 18 and the money in their pockets. The average cost of a Decent looking bridesmaid dress is about $600 or even more if they don’t carry over a specific size. Also, this company’s Leadtime to make the dresses and get them is way better than most, especially when making a dress over a size 16. Most bridal shops take up to 6 months or more to complete a dress. So I feel that the consumer needs this company’s product because it’s inclusive with sizing, budget-friendly, with online alterations, and has excellent lead time to make and ship the product compared to competitors; this is the only company that will get you, want you to want and need without the hassle of Availablity of sizing and price.

Bridal Babes would be best positioned in the Billion dollar wedding industry, rebranding Bridesmaids’ attire to the new decade of upcoming weddings for now and many years. And they will succeed in this business Because there’s always someone getting married; Alone, in 2020, there were 1.68 million marriages in the United States. And I know that out of that 1.8 million, brides with bridesmaids either paid a ton of money for their dresses or had difficulty finding dresses due to their sizes. I think “Bridal Babes” Would benefit from being in the wedding industry because of their wide range of sizes and Affordability and the new and improved look of the dresses. The dresses that are being presented are not like your typical long and tedious dresses that don’t flatter anybody’s body like many competitors; they have this new 2020s look to their dresses. Making it look upgraded and appealing with different colors and designs that bridesmaids would WANT to wear today. And they already have the product marking down by them showcasing their dresses on Tik Tok and Instagram, gaining a massive following by showing people of different sizes and colors of the dresses and the diversity of their campaign, marketing themselves. They don’t have to spend thousands of dollars on marketing the dresses, word of mouth and social media is the market, and it Will indeed make their company a success in the booming wedding industry for now and in the future.

Consumer Decision Making – italian restaurant

Exampling stage one of my buyer decision process, stage one is recognition of my needs. As I imagine, I’m a customer that moved to Salt lake city and wanting Italian takeout for dinner. Before looking for restaurants, I would ask myself what Italian dish I wanted. I decided I wanted Lasagna, and the place had to be casual, that Does pick up and serve delicious and genuine Italian food. Now, to find what I need, I would have to search on google or ask locals where to find the best Italian restaurant with good Lasagna. Since I’m new in town, Googling would be a better idea. While googling, I found this popular restaurant in the salt lake area named Caffé Molise that fulfilled all my needs. After finding the restaurant, I needed to know if it was a good restaurant, so I looked at the reviews on google, yelp, and Tik Tik to see what people were saying. And I saw that the restaurant had a lot of good reviews about the food and service, plus they take out orders. Showing stages two and three of the buyer’s decision process, searching for information about the product, and evaluating the available alternatives. After Fulffiliung all those stages, I hit stage four: Buying the product, which means going to the restaurant, buying the Lasagna, and taking it home. Now what usually comes after that would be my opinion of the service and food, exhibiting stage five of post-purchase evaluation, where I talk about the food, and I would discuss my issues or problems about the food with either peers or other people to give feedback about the restaurant/company.

After doing this marketing exercise, What I’d realize about the consumer decision-making process is that we, as customers do this on a regular; it’s part of our buyer behavior. We constantly do The Five Stages of the Buyer Decision Process when wanting a product. It’s so fascinating to see our human behavior being studied to sell products; what is even more interesting was finding out how buyers are also essential allies in the exchange process.

Leila J Week B Post

The Company I decided to write about is the shoe company New Balance; it’s a famous sneaker brand that all generations love. And what this organization is doing now concerning corporate social responsibility is that they are close to being a 100 percent environmentally friendly company. By 2025 this Company will eliminate the use and discharge of harsh chemicals and source one hundred percent renewable electricity for owned operations. Another corporate social responsibility this Company is doing is what the product is made from and what it will make of it in the future. By 2022 the New Balance company products will be made with one hundred percent cotton, one hundred percent leather, and fifty percent recycled polyester.
The recommendations I have to create a more ethical, socially responsible, sustainable business is to make businesses have Corporate Social Responsibility of being environmentally conscious, such as lessening our carbon footprint. And Better human rights for labor policies. Plus, companies with inclusion tend to be more respected and superior due to their inclusiveness.
The practices I strongly recommend this organization should pursue are diversity and gender equality for all workers because there are still companies that lack these types of practices. In many other companies, Women are still being paid less than men, and People of the opposite race, white people, are also still being paid less than their counterparts. And this is a corporate social responsibility that needs to be addressed.
