Catholic Charities Proudly announces their brand New Talent Program

In Partnership with Alianza Division We Created a Talent Program for Kids of All Ages that will Secure Limitless Opportunities in our Community

Catholic Charities Community Services is an organization that seeks to ensure the security and well-being of the most vulnerable members of our society. Not only do we provide food and shelter for those who need it, but we are always in the search of guaranteeing the resources and opportunities that will improve living conditions and positively impact the populations’ lives. As we all might be aware, the most effective way to create a significant change in our society begins with our children’s education. That’s why we decided to incorporate a new talent program for our youth in Alianza’s division. Alianzas Talent Program for the youth will enhance kids’ talents as well as open new paths of cultural representation for our country’s future.

This program will include a broad range of activities, such as dancing, painting, writing, acting, singing, modeling, and even crafting, to mention a few. We have teachers and mentors from all parts of the world ensuring the welcoming of students from all backgrounds. Since the program is in its beginnings we will start completely online, but we do have plans to open a facility for people to take in person classes in the near future. It will also be very affordable, so the only thing families will have to worry about is to be disciplined in managing their time in order to cultivate their kids’ talents.

Executive Director, Beatriz Diaz Taveras who has held management positions with Catholic Charities for more than 20 years, has claimed that this imperative take of action in the organization will drive young people to be more active and passionate about all different kinds of arts, and similarly acquired skills that will help them deliver important developments for their families and their the communities. “Alianzas Talent Program has been created as a response to the world’s crisis we’ve experienced in recent years, to bring out our youth’s special skills and talents and allow them to enjoy the arts while building strong foundations they can take advantage of moving forward.” 

Alianza Dominicana Cultural Center https://cccsny.org/services/alianza-dominicana-cultural-center is a multi-disciplinary arts center in Washington Heights that showcases contemporary and classical Dominican and Latin American art, dance and music. Intergenerational learning, transnational and cross-cultural activities are the philosophical guidepost of the Center. Lessons and workshops in computer, arts making, popular and traditional dances and Afro-Latin percussion, as well as literary conferences, music and theatrical performances are provided free of charge. In addition, the Cultural Center is home to a state-of-the-art computer lab funded by Charter Communications.

Consumer Decision Making

I just moved to Salt Lake City in Utah with my family. We are excited and looking for a nice Italian restaurant to have dinner. Our preferences are for a beautiful restaurant to dine in, with a welcoming but elegant environment to enjoy delicious food and celebrate the new change of surroundings. We are planning to split the bill, and didn’t mind if the place was a little expensive as we hoped to get a higher level experience. 

Since we don’t know the area or people to help us find a good place, we have decided to start searching places on Google. I clicked on one of the first links that I saw after typing “Italian restaurants.” The first option that captivated our attention is Valter’s Osteria because it has the best ratings on the website and it seemed it could provide us with a cozy but fancy atmosphere. However, a few people in the reviews were complaining about it being over priced. We’re looking for something fancy and would be willing to pay a little more than what we usually would for a regular dinner, as long as we are satisfied with the experience at the best price, of course. So we are going to save that one as a good option and keep searching for a few more restaurants. The next one is Settebello Pizzeria. We quickly realized that this wasn’t a good option for us because, not only people claimed it to be overpriced in the reviews, but also they didn’t have many food options and we weren’t very fond of the appearance of the establishment. As I noticed that the options in the list were not as accurate with our preferences, I finally proceeded to search “Italian restaurants to dine in,” and it looked like I found the options that were more popular, with good ratings and aligning with the type of place we were looking for. After scrolling down we saw some incredible choices we liked, but ended up choosing Caffe Molise immediately. This place showed the best quality food, at a reasonable price, that you wouldn’t get to taste in the daily and the pictures of the place showed such a warm, eccentric and luxurious environment we couldn’t resist to disregard the other options. 

After the decision-making process, I realized that it is easier to find what you are looking for if you have well defined requirements of what you want and need. Once you have a clear idea of what is important and what are only preferences, making comparisons and taking into account the reviews of other people that have experienced the service, as well as the pictures and ratings of the place, can help you decide more accurately without risking your chances. In this particular case, my preferences were for an aesthetically pleasing and fancy food restaurant to dine in with family. I wasn’t caring as much for the price, but it did influence my decision, since I was looking for quality experience and, as we probably know, expensive is not always worth the price.

Consumer Decision Making

Toys R Us used to be the most influential company of toys in America just a couple of decades ago. Since the moment it was founded in 1957, throughout the following years this brand showed a promising and stable future being the number one nightmare for its competitors. It seemed that there was no other path for their future than to expand and grow. Nevertheless, the company saw the end of its glory days because, among other factors, it failed to pursue new tactics to maintain its value in the outgrowing market of toys companies and ended up filing bankruptcy in 2017.

I’m going to be ranking some of the main marketing environment components that I consider were significant in the downfall of Toys R Us.

 

1)Demographic Factors: The company failed to execute the necessary changes to keep the brand as appealing for the new generation of kids who are more captivated by electronics, video games and social media. When a company fails to listen and provide their target population with the things that they’re interested in, the demand on the brand will naturally decay. For this reason, I believe that their main mistake was not listening to their customers’ needs.

2)Social Factors: As a toys’ brand the public that it used to target was kids. This company has existed since 1957, back then the interests of this group were totally different to the kids today, however this didn’t necessarily mean that it would be harder for them to reach their demographic. The way that companies influence the population has changed overall with the technology era. This brand lost the opportunity to evolve into creating a deeper and effective presence through technology as a means to promote themselves.

3)Political and Legal Factors: The company’s intentions to expand their horizons to the online market was a good strategy in theory. They stipulated a partnership with Amazon in which they would pay for exclusively. However, Amazon did not respect the deal and started selling toys from ToysRUs competitors. After terminating the deal and winning the lawsuit to Amazon, ToysRUs had to start their online presence from scratch, but by that moment it was too late to make any difference.

4)Competitive Factors: Despite the increasingly changing times, ToysRUs stated pretty much the same from its beginnings to the end. It was a very big company, for which huge changes and innovation were impossible to achieve at a fast pace. Unfortunately, the emerging competitors such as Walmart and Target were able to provide an experience that satisfied their consumers’ needs. There was nothing unique that would separate ToysRUs from many other innovative brands.

5)Economic Factors: After their past failures this company became an unsustainable business. They were in an urgent need of rebranding in order to keep up with their competitors. Unfortunately, by the time that they realized this, they couldn’t do anything as they were facing a huge debt.

Week B

The brand that I chose to talk about is Shein. This is a Chinese online fast fashion retailer founded in 2008. I personally enjoy buying things from this brand because it’s an online clothing company that includes a wide variety of styles for all body types at low prices. Nowadays, this brand has reached incredible recognition and it’s at its peak of success among the new generation. This is not surprising if we take into consideration the fact that it targets young people that, attracted by the fast fashion trends that this brand promotes, plus the low prices, will buy a bunch of clothing articles and make videos to show their audience on social media. Ultimately, helping the brand as a marketing strategy. These are a few of the reasons why it is so lovable and well known, however, in recent years, the company has found itself in the middle of several controversies including trademark disputes, tax evasion, human rights violations, and health and safety concerns.

Just like any other brand, Shein tries to maintain an impeccable image of ethical responsibility with their customers, employees and the environment. “Shein is fully committed to Fair Labor practices, environmental impact mitigation, and charitable cases.” — Shein. Ideally, they would’ve become the world’s largest fashion retailer while making moral decisions, however, not only is this hard to believe for brands that, like this one, are worth billions, but it has been proven that Shein is, indeed, very unethical.

Every time you open Shein’s website you notice how the page portraits the clothing of the season, the things that are on trend and even the micro trends that grow old faster. It’s incredible the amount of new designs and massive quantities of clothes that they are able to stock every week. But, this process has been possible thanks to stealing designs from other designers and forcing their workers to spend an insane amount of hours to get the minimum pay. That’s how they get to sell their clothes at such ridiculously low prices.

Another big negative for Shein it’s the low care they give for the environment. The mass production of clothing that goes out of fashion quickly is making people change their entire wardrobes in a matter of weeks. This impacts the environment because all of this clothing that goes to waste is going to be around on the planet for longer than us.

I believe that this company can make changes to align their goals towards the right direction. They could focus their brand in more durable and good quality pieces of clothing as well as change the benefits and treatment they give for their workers. It would make things a little more expensive, but caring about the ethics of being responsible with society is the key to creating a strong, long lasting company. Their quick reach to success in their shady ways could be their downfall at some point.
