Culture doesn’t only dictate who you are as an individual but it brings the classroom together based on everyone’s customs, experiences, and perspectives. Introducing culturally responsive teaching into your student’s curriculum at a young age helps to encourage young individuals to express themselves through their culture and to be open- minded about different cultures and aspects they might encounter along the way. Ensuring that your classroom is diverse helps support the notion that inviting all cultural customs is beneficial to students. As educators you need to acknowledge that there are different opinions but be willing to create a safe environment where students can discuss but remember to never be biased. We must also always offer our students the opportunity to be themselves and be proud of all the aspects of their identity.
