Patriarchy, the system
Patriarchy is the system of society or government in which men hold the power and women are largely excluded from it.
However according to Allen some men are defensive when it comes down to patriarchy as they are all tend to be seen as oppressive , which is not the case .
Allen also described society as patriarchal and associate actions such as mens violent actions against women to it . It is also believed than men are the most important people as they do the more important things according to the system .
This then leads to how it affects socialization and social systems . It is said that we humans are the ones that make social systems happens .
social system is the patterned network of relationships constituting a coherent whole ,that exist between individuals, groups, and institutions. It is the formal structure of role and status that can form in a small, stable group.
Being the fact that people can make the system they have the ability to change the system differently.
The dynamic between people and the social system represents a basic sociological view of the world at every level of human experience.
In my conclusion Patriarchy is a lived system; it is a framework that people use to justify male superiority over women and it is one which survived through numerous social, cultural and political changes over the last several centuries. Although the roles of men and women have radically changed over the turn of the century, it is still inevitable to have various gender related issues .
Any woman has the right to decide what gets to be done with their body an their life. They have the right to know or conman any medical concerns when it comes on to THEIR body. When bring a child into this whole a lot people go ahead an do it without a plan or a second thought because they know in themselves that they will do any thing they have to make that child life the best, others not so much. Some people struggle with this decision whether it be based off religious or cultural backgrounds , the judgement of others etc. Because of these people or things it makes women feel that they or sinking or they might me a. Ad person or mother to refuse to bring a child into the world an commit abortion is a sin , I for one totally disagree. When it comes on to bringing a whole human being into the world I don’t think you should just take it lightly it is a lot of responsibility your not just responsible for yourself but for a whole other life a life that you have to care for for both of you. I believe contraceptives is very important: birth control and condoms most important thing when having sec to prevent abortion. Sometimes mistakes happen an you do end up pregnant but you have your options no one should judge you of your decision because you know what’s best for you than any one else would. A lot of times women get scared because of the risk an of the procedure which is totally understandable in cases like these other people shouldn’t have decision but just be their for the woman that’s going to have the make one of the most important decisions of her life. The video “The The Abortion Divide” tells the tale of what a could to be mother goes through mentally. I’m some scenes it shows the option on what abortion would be in certain stages of pregnancy. In either stage it’s still a horrible decision to make. I feel horrible for some women who has to go through situations the clinic while protester stand outside an bash them for a decision that has nothing to with them. Women should have rights an freedom to do whatever to their bodies an those rights shouldn’t be questioned. I really love an connected with karina Cruz it’s depicts women of all ages, size an race rallying an protesting the right for the freedom and for their rights. When women come together there is no bond or law stronger.
Identity has always been a crisis for many , whether it’s a racial crisis , gender crisis or even individuality. People tend to struggle as a hold in this world but to struggle or buy in a box because you belong to Romeo different races I can see how that would affect a person. A lot of times people who struggle with racial identity tends to be an easy target for crowds that likes to stir politics. The article “ too Latina to be black” the author poured out her problems she facing as a mixed with Hispanic an Black, in her story she states that’s she from NEW YORK CITY which is a big melting pot full of different cultures when she live here in New York it was easy for her to be herself without wondering if anyone else finds it a problem because there’s so much culture here nobody has the time to judge if your both for us that’s a big blessing to be able to portray both cultures but upon loving she realizes that the acceptance of New York isn’t spread to certain states, they aren’t aware of mixed cultures/ people so they aren’t accepting as they should be. Instead of being polite an gaming knowledge the kids of her schools weren’t polite to her. A group of Hispanic girls because just maybe her putter appearance wasn’t up to their standards maybe it’s the kink in her hair or maybe it the color of her skin but without a doubt they misjudged her before she even gotten a chance to speak a word to either of them. Another reason why you should never judge a book by its cover because u never know what’s in side until you open it. In the power of identity it. An classmates snapshot or response that I relate to was Allison Williams she discussed and showed awareness to racism identity and the the discrimination that you might face from your own race if you mixed. I think it’s had enough to feel the pressure from the outside race but to to feel like you have to choose to fit in with your own is definitely overwhelming.
According to Syfret, Wendy Activsm consists of efforts to promote, impede, direct, or intervene in social, political , economical or environmental reform with the desire to make changes in society toward a perceived greater good. She also spoke about how activist bring about change and how activism is apart of the world and made reference to that of the French Revolution.
The French Revolution was when the great Ghandi fought to allow citizens more agency in governmental decisions .
She also made mention the history of feminism and how it lives on today . Feminism is the advocacy of women’s rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes. Whilst strides have been made towards equality throughout these periods, women remain far from equal both in the Western world and globally . Feminism still remains as important an issue today for contemporary woman .
Syfret in addition spoke about the Salt march where Ghandi also led another stand against oppressive rule . They protest against the British salt act of 1882 .
In a time when people often dismiss younger generations as more engaged with their smartphones than with the world around them, young advocates are using every tool available to raise awareness and push back against injustice. And they’re not just posting their opinions on social media. They’re setting real change in motion a clear sign of activism

19th and early 20th feminist concerns about woman suffrage
One hundred years toward suffrage . The women’s suffrage movement made the question of women’s voting rights into an important political issue in the 19th century. The struggle was particularly intense in Great Britain and in the United States, but those countries were not the first to grant women the right to vote, at least not on a national basis.
The article gave an outline as to what happened each year as it relates to woman suffrage from the 1770s – 1923 .
Woman were face with not being able to vote all these years up until the 19 century . During that time the National Woman’s Party first proposes the Equal Rights Amendment to eliminate discrimination on the basis of gender. It has never been ratified.
Equal amendment rights
Tara Law spoke about the amendment rights and the day Virginia fought for equal rights to vote hoping to be approved in other words the ERA. The equal rights amendment was passed by he congress in 1972 . The amendment consists on 3 sections and I quote
Section 1 .Equality of rights under the law should not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of sex
Section 2 . The congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation , the provisions of this article
Section 3 . The amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.
The nation woman’s party officially made the first amendment in 1923 but then decided to focus on the major issue at hand which was that of woman’s equality.
At first this movement did not have much support as the focus for some women was on different issues . It was until decades before the ERA began to get attention.
The rights was first written by Alice Paul who is the actually founder of the National woman’s party .
However the amendments rights fails due to mobilizing anti-feminist .In my opinion adapting the long-overdue Equal Rights Amendment could help bolster existing statutory protections under attack, making it a key element in the fight for gender equality

Bobbie Ann Williams
Upon reading both articles I’ve learnt a lot of interesting information that I now can partake in conversations of such. In sex & gender 101 began to understand that gender and gender identity is never a set in stone. i also touched bases with different pronouns that’s used or made for a specific individual. Gender or gender orientation define how how you feel an how you identify or refer yourself not how you are seen. And there’s plenty of pronouns that can be used to address such person(she, he are use as neutral pronouns such as “Z” or “they, they, and them)Another topic that was touched which I was really impressed about is that the spoke on race ,sex, sexual orientation etc.
In both readings about the topics sex, an gender/ gender orientation has something in common and that is not being treated equally, for example a guy is labeled as a male because of his outter appearance which are male genitals etc but for that individual might not consider themselves as male. They might consider themselves has females an would like to play that part or even define themselves as. Who am I to Judge anyone ? I would rather an also envoy other to understand an get the knowledge instead of bashing an not knowing. These topics need more light than we might think and with these articles/ readings are the first step of putting this knowledge out in the world.
