In this snapshot, a group of white women protested for suffrage. Intersectionality acts as way of concern towards one’s race, sex, origin and nationality. We could see that no African American woman were allowed to to join forces with the women’s suffrage. The crowd hold signs that mentions about both the amendment and suffrage that only gives permissions towards whites.
This is a great image and I appreciate the link and caption. I do want to note that, while you are correct that some groups did not include black women, and the article this is from focuses on that very important point (I have actually assigned this article in the past), this image doesn’t convey overt exclusion in the signs they are holding. I wonder why the ACLU decided to include this and not other images that would convey it more clearly.
