Summary
Migration is part of the natural the same way some birth migrates to find better places humans migrate to find better opportunities. Every year millions of people migrate outside their country to find better opportunities of job, education, and quality of life. In the United States millions of immigrants came as refugees, through a family petition, or undocumented. Every immigrant faces the difficulties of being in another country; however, I think move to U.S helps immigrants to have a better life.
In the article ‘‘The Key to Findings About U.S Immigrants’’ by Abby Budiman we explored how United States is the country with more foreign people in the world with more than 40 million, and it is also full of different culture and ethnicities. The U.S outsiders-born populace gathered evidence 44.8 million in 2018. As 1965 the number of foreign residing in the U.S is 4 times as many. Most immigrants are documented in the U.S being the 77% while a section is unapproved, according to new Pew Research Center. In 2017 45% were U.S citizen follow by a 27% permanent resident, 23% unapproved, 5% nonpermanent resident. In 2017 29 million of immigrants were working the majority being document with 21.2 million, and 7.6 million of workers being unapproved immigrants. A sum of 377,000 unapproved immigrants were deported from U.S in the fiscal of 2018, and immigrants with criminal conviction were less than the half of the extradition meaning that the majority were acquitted people.
In the article “Competition from Within’’ by Seth Eislund we find the story of Kathir a young girl who family run away from a genocide and scape from their town. She went to school in which she suffers the hard punishment of the school staff when she scape from school to take her sick brother to the hospital. Khatir and her family were accepted to be refugees what was a life change for her because how different the environment was as she says, ‘‘Life is a competition between you yesterday versus you today.’’ The story of kathir is a perfect example of how immigrant to another country can save a person and make them develop their full potential.
I interview my classmate with a few questions to get to a better understanding of them as immigrants. What I ask them was related to their experiences as immigrants, and I was able to listen how coming to the U.S change their lives in different ways such as their personality, insecurities, and opportunities of working while studding. I listened to the situations they have encounter as immigrants, but also the thing they have learn as my classmate Dave says ‘‘here in U.S can do a lot in early age like choose for yourself.”’ When I came to the United States, I felt excited of being in the country that I just see in the tv; however, I felt sad because I didn’t know the language, and it was literally starting a new life. When I started school I noticed how some white kid dislike me but didn’t dislike other Latinos that were born here. I always love the way the teachers and Americans outside school were nice to me. I am always thankful with this country to becoming my second home. This country has given me a great quality of life, the opportunity a better education, and push me to learn a second language.
In the article ‘‘A Rebellion Against Silence’’ by Isabelle Williams we found the beautiful story of Sindy Avila-Gutierrez who came to the U.S with her family when she was only 2 years old as an undocumented, but that did not stop her to live her life or study. She became an activist, and she was one of the first people to act in a protest to encourage undocumented people in front of Portland city hall. Avila took the microphone and said ‘‘I am Undocumented, and I am unafraid.’’ I can understand what Avila went through and how being undocumented can pull you back in this country. you want to progress, but you live with the fear of being deported to a country where you have nothing.
In conclusion being and immigrant is hard but is the best thing that can change your life in some many ways. It Is a challenge for us immigrant to adapt but is also difficult to the native to adapt to us. We all learned to convey with the different cultures and ethnicities. Immigrate to United States can be a life change for everyone, and if I must recommend a place to live in that place is United States.
