Topic: How immigration can impact in an immigrant life
Immigration is the action of coming to live permanently in a foreign country. Millions of people have opted for immigration since it is known that it can have a very positive impact on the immigrant’s life, although it can also have a negative impact. Therefore, what drives people to say that it impacts the immigrant’s life in a positive or negative way?
According to the article Key Findings About U.S. Immigration, PEW Research Center The United state is the country with the most immigrants in the world. Based on portraits made by some research, some questions were asked to dissect the US immigrant population. From the answers to those questions, here is what we find out. From 1965 to the present day, the present number of immigrants living in the United States continues to increase. This makes them a strong presence in the states justified by statistics. Among these immigrants, even though many are legal and have their papers in order and in full, some are not. Among them, there are some permanent residents, some temporary residents, and some undocumented or non-legal. From 1990 to 2007, very high growth was noted in the number of undocumented immigrants. By 2017, a fall has been detected because of the fall in Mexico. During this time, growth was observed in the number from Central America. Being an American citizen has not been chosen by all those who are, especially since it requires some criteria to be eligible to be a citizen. During these years, the number of immigrants who opt for nationality has increased despite the fact that the total annual number remains below the same. On the other hand, Mexicans are the population that tends not to be eligible to opt for nationality due to their language and personal barriers, their lack of interest, and financial barriers. Mexico is the country where most immigrants from all over the world come from followed by other countries such as China India Philippines and El Salvador. With the creation of the federal refugee resettlement program in 1980, millions of refugees were relocated with the largest number for the republic of Congo, followed by Burma, Ukraine, Eritrea, and Afghanistan. Among them, there is a minority of Muslims and a majority of ch. In the United States, immigrants usually live in three states, which are California, Texas, and Florida, On the other hand, they are more present in California followed by Texas, Florida, and New York, and other states. About studies, immigrants have a lower level of studies than those born American despite the fact that studies differ from country to country. As for work, almost every immigrant has a job or is looking for one. This shows that immigrants can contribute to the development of the country. On the language side, they are doing very well. Despite all this, many of them have been deported over the years.
As an analysis, immigration makes it possible to better understand how the world works. For example, traveling and meeting new people who aren’t from your culture or your country, who are different from you allows the person to have a wider view of the world, and that person will be smarter in many things.
Talking about immigration there is another article named “Competition from Within,” by Seth Eislund/ The Immigrant Story. According to that story, Khatir is a girl from Chad with a difficult childhood. During her studies when she was young, she had severe studies with very severe teachers. We can even say that she lived martyrdom in her school. but luck smiled on her as she was admitted as a refugee in the U.S. This is how she continued her studies in the United States until her success.
After exploring that article, we can say that immigrating helps you have more opportunities to succeed. For example, for an African like me who comes from Senegal, which is a developing country, the United States, which is a very developed country in addition to being a first-world power, is a country where my success is more assured.
After studying these two articles, I did an interview with five of my classmates to get their opinion according to their experience with immigration. The interview was an interview of five questions. Here are the questions that I asked them: How was your first winter in the US, Was it difficult to fit in the country where you just came in, Do you like it better in your country or here, How long did you stayed before having a job, Why did you choose to immigrate in the US. For the first question, everybody said that it was cold and exciting. They all said I was difficult to fit in the country due to the language. They all like it here except one of them who said he liked both her country and here. They all waited differently to get a job, some of them waited 1 week or 6 months, or even 1 year. While some of them said it was an opportunity to come here, others said I was parent order.
From my own experience, it wasn’t that difficult to immigrate to the US because I was born here at first. Nevertheless, my parents sent me back to Africa when I was little until I graduated from high school in my country. When I returned, I knew how to live here even though it was a bit hard at first because of the language, and the difference between the countries and others.
Talking about the negative part of immigration, immigrating often means leaving behind loved ones. For instance, this can be emotionally difficult and lead to feelings of isolation and loneliness. Plus, immigrants may experience discrimination and prejudice based on their race, ethnicity, religion, or other factors. For example, this can lead to social exclusion as well as mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.
To conclude, immigration can have both a negative and positive impact on an immigrant’s life. Considering recent developments, isn’t its positive impact greater than its negative impact?
