Final Reflection

FINAL REFLECTION ENGLISH LITERATURE
The semester has been very busy with a plethora of new concepts that presented me with precious ideas that have contributed to the person I am today. The semester has incorporated several theories that have helped me to be able to accomplish the tasks that the course required of me successfully. I wrote on different aspects that individually challenged me throughout the semester and added to my knowledge. I have been able to write on various topics from different perspectives and for different reasons. Altogether, the assignment allowed me to grow and write clearly and eloquently, taking into account all the aspects that are essential in a work of literature. The writing techniques that I built with this assignment and throughout the course were paraphrasing, quoting and referencing. The style I can recognize as my own is the strategy of reading first without taking notes, then reading for the second time while taking notes, writing the paper, and finally reading while confirming the accuracy of my paper. I have come to appreciate that I am a very creative writer with a very keen eye for detail. The journey through the fifteen weeks has been punctuated with challenges, growth and fulfillment in the end.
The semester gave me the opportunity to put my writing skills to the test and I was able to write several papers on an array of topics and issues. I was particularly very proud of my assignment on reflection on the stories of Sherman Alexie and the comedy play 'The Marriage Proposal' by Chekov. First, I am proud of the assignment on the stories of Sherman Alexie because it gave me an opportunity to be able to offer an analysis and was very enriching and challenging at the same time. The assignment allowed me to be able to read and understand the author's standpoint before writing the reflection on it. With this assignment, I learned the importance of reading a work of literature several times to understand the job correctly. Together with this, I was also able to put to practice the notetaking technique while reading. The method helped me write down important aspects of the works of literature that would be helpful in writing my reflection or analysis. Similarly, the assignment helped me build my vocabulary because I was able to develop my vocabulary b establishing the meaning of words in the literature first by studying the context in which they were used by the author in the work and by using the dictionary. The writing skills that I employed in this work show me at my best because I put all the techniques that I learned in the semester to use and was able to check all the boxes required by the assignment. The assignment on the comedy play 'The Marriage Proposal' by Chekov also made me very proud because I was able to understand the writing style that was used by the author and offer a very sound analysis of the author's perspective. Writing the analysis was very challenging because the author used some concepts that were not very straight forward, but I managed to pull through. Over and above, the assignment gave me the opportunity to put my best foot forward and do an exemplary job. The assignment was delightful like none other because it was coupled with humour that kept me giggling throughout the paper.
While the semester presented me with the best opportunities to learn new concepts that I have come to appreciate so much, it also gave me immeasurable challenges. The area that I really struggled with was time management. My time management was off most of the time as I found myself struggling to complete the assignments on time. Although I was able to meet all my tasks on time, I found myself starting the assignment too close to the deadline, which made me rush too much to beat the deadlines. Again, my poor time management led me to arrive late for classes which made me lose crucial aspects of the course that would have given me a better understanding of the course concepts. Overall, my poor time management also proved to be challenging because I could not find sufficient time to conduct my studies to help me gain a much deeper understanding of the concepts earned in the classroom.
The semester was a very worthy investment in my life. From the beginning of the semester till the end, I was able to learn things that I was not very familiar with. Through the course objectives, I was able to learn different techniques that have given me leverage in so many areas. The classroom experience was worth every penny that I got to spend this semester, and the lecturers made the course very interesting. This aspect made me look forward to my lectures every day. Similarly, my interaction with my peers throughout the semester added to the knowledge that I acquired through the lectures and reading course materials. I was able to interact with my classmates who I could share ideas with and add to each other knowledge in the different aspects of the course. Altogether, the course was an enjoyable experience that has helped me learn a lot that will significantly influence how I write.
