Activity 1

In preparation for the next phase in building your essay, we are going to pause in the writing process and focus on how to do research for a literary essay. Remember that your final essay will include one primary source and at least one secondary source that will support your thesis. After you have located a secondary source, you will then fill out a Research Summary form, documenting your research. See Activity 5 for how to do this.

If you don’t want to use a literary critique as your secondary source, you may choose to use a biographical article about the author from the BMCC library database Biography in Context.

Research Summary Report due: Tuesday, April 4, 11:59 p.m.

To locate the blank Research Summary form, navigate to your Blackboard course. Click on “Essay Submission Links.” Click on “Research Summary Form.” Download the Research Summary Form, fill it out, and submit the form through the submission link. This is not an essay, but it is located with the essays on Blackboard.
