In the story “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been” there are many ways the story could be read. Oates made multiple interpretations in the story which made it interesting because one could lean on one side or the other. For how I saw it was more on gender roles and predatory behavior with Arnold being a manipulator to Connie. I viewed Arnold as a danger to Connie’s innocence. For which he ultimately was the cause of Connie’s loss of innocence and being dominant towards her. “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been” has been a story that I’ve never read before that gives you multiple interpretations to the story which I found very interesting. I went with the first interpretation I saw for this story which was the situation with Arnold and Connie. At the end, this story in my eyes was a view as a female victimization from what Arnold did to Connie.
