Ancient vs Modern

Similarities between the American population during the plague and the Pandemic of 2020 are the Fear and panic that the people felt. The citizens of thebe were terrified of the plague affecting their city and it harming/killing those dear to them similar to the way we felt when covid had first made its outbreak in the U.S. Another similarity that was shared was the people of thebe seeking answers for the cause of the plague and what can be done to prevent it or get rid of it. Oedipus, the king, was determined to find the cause so that he can save his people. When the modern pandemic made its way to us government officials, scientists, and healthcare workers worked day in and day out trying to find the source of the outbreak and how they could protect citizens. Differences between the plague and the modern pandemic was that the knowledge and information they had access too. Oedipus relied on oracles and prophecies for information so hed arrange consults with delphic the oracle and the blind prohet to get the truth while we had the internet and multiple news sources to update us on anything that was found about the new virus that was swarming the globe.
