Ziping & Niko – Letter of Advice to Incoming Freshmen at BMCC

Dear Incoming Freshmen,

Congratulations on coming to BMCC! You’ve made a fantastic choice, and we are confident that you’ll have a fulfilling experience here.

We want to share some advice that we believe will help you make the most of your time at BMCC. One of the most important things to remember is to not hesitate to get involved or use the resources available to you. Whether it’s Fiterman Hall, the Main Campus, or Murray, don’t be afraid to explore different locations to discover a space that you find with your learning preferences.

We also want to share a study tip that we have found to be extremely beneficial is to take advantage of the various learning spaces available on campus. In Chambers, there is a library that you are likely to pass all the time you head to class. In there, you will find many books that can assist you in an assignment. There’s also the BMCC library site which ranges from opinion pieces to peer-reviewed academic papers. Each building at BMCC provides study spaces; if you need to borrow a laptop or other equipment, that is definitely an option. Whether it’s tutoring in Chambers, joining clubs about your interests, accessing support services, exploring extracurricular activities, or printing something last minute—take advantage of everything BMCC has to offer.

Ultimately, we recommend that you discover your unique path and learning approach. Try out various methods, reach out for assistance when necessary, and be willing to explore beyond your comfort zone. Your experience at BMCC presents a chance for personal development, exploration, and seize the opportunity.

Best,

Ziping and Niko
