Author Lorenz interviewed Andrea Romo who’s live had been changed, ever since she uploaded a video of her sister deep frying a turkey on Spotlight. Her video became so popular she had made about half a million. The company that was made for a messaging platform, back in 2017 began verifying creators with large followers. Snapchat determines the amount people can get paid based on the video’s views. Taylor Lorenz interviewed, Katie Feeney, CJ OperAmericano, Joey Rogoff and Joseph Albanese, who all had similar life changing experiences that paid them millions of their Spotlight upload videos.
Snapchat pays influencers so that people can use it. For Spotlight feature to succeed it needs more popularity to stay relevant. Snapchats challenge is to outshine TikTok as the popular platform of the moment. C.E.O and co-founder, Joseph Albanese mention that providing creator monetization options is needed for any platform that is competing with TikTok. Spotlight payments started to become smaller because of the payments being distributed to more users, since more people are posting. Mr. Casey shares an apartment with another Snapchat influencer millionaire, Mr. Rogoff. They share different strategies on how to stay big influencers on Snapchat. At the end of Taylor Lorenz interview, Mr. Casey says, after setting aside money for family, he wants to invest the rest back into his work influencing with his upload videos.
• I use social media for socializing, and entertainment. I wouldn’t change my social media activities. It is nice to know that can be an easy way to get paid for selective users. I personally would not seek becoming viral on social media to get paid.
