Dear incoming freshman,
The idea that community college is easier than regular four-year institutes is extremely incorrect, you are still taking college-level courses. These courses aren’t meant to be an ego boost but more of an ego blow that challenges you to think creatively within the realm of science math or any other subject. With that being said, it is important to understand the kind of scholar you are, the way you learn best and process information, how you are able to be the most productive, and your time management. These factors are important to understand to build structure and ensure that you are at your full potential to truly comprehend the material. Understanding your limits and fundamentals will also ensure that you aren’t over-exhausting yourself because the work is already difficult enough as it is. There is no need to try and prove something or push yourself through college as fast as possible. lastly, take advantage of the reassurance given to you. There is so much financial help out there, the internship opportunities, and even free therapy being accessible. Anything that you are possibly struggling with can be provided with assistance at BMCC.
