Summary
My advice for incoming freshmen at BMCC is that they made the correct choice to start at a community college instead of a 4 year college. This comes from personal experience. Before BMCC I was a student at John Jay, ever since I was in high school John Jay was and still is my dream college, however, I got ahead of myself and managing 5 classes while working became really stressful. So if you feel like you need to rush and choose a 4 year college don't take your time, colleges are always going to exist so if you're not ready to commit yet, do things at your own pace. Another major thing in college is your assigned advisor. Don't be afraid to reach out and ask for help they're there to help and guide you. If you feel like your advisor isn't paying attention or just isn't providing any help, go to the academic advisement center in the main building for help. Using your resources will help you a lot take advantage of them they're there for a reason. People say thins a lot and it might be annoying but time management is a need especially if you're a full time student and you're also working. When I was a freshman, I was working from 5 am to 10:30 am and then I had my first class of the day at 11 am. Since I didn't manage my time correctly and I didn't set a schedule I barely passed that semester, so please manage your time wisely and speak to your professors about your situation, some if not all will try to work with you so you can. pass your classes. To finish once again take your time and don't rush, things will slowly come together as time goes by.
