CONVERSATION 3

Summary

The article "Snapchat Wants You to Post. It's Willing to Pay Millions." talks about Snapchat's initiatives to encourage users to upload more content by providing monetary incentives. According to reports, Snapchat is prepared to provide producers who frequently upload interesting material to the site millions of dollars. The objective of this approach is to enhance user interaction and draw additional content producers to the site. Many young people's lives are being changed by the money that Snapchat is giving them; some youngsters are even able to attend colleges that they never would have thought possible thanks to their newfound cash. Because it's so simple for creators to make money with this new feature, Snapchat is setting a new benchmark. Some of those young people's lives who were changed were Andrea Romo who gained $500,000 over a regular video she had posted on her Spotlight, another was Katie Feeney who had earned over $1 million from posting unboxing videos and funny content that opened new opportunities for her. By giving content producers a clear route to revenue generation, Snapchat hopes to transform the perception of social media as a place where growth isn't always possible. By offering better creator monetization than TikTok, Snapchat hopes to compete with them.

I feel like this is both a good and negative thing, in my opinion. On the one hand, I think it's good because it gives individuals possibilities, but on the other hand, not everyone will be able to take advantage of those opportunities since it depends on their luck and whether or not their video will be seen by others.
