According to the article “Snapchat Wants You to Post. It’s Willing to Pay Millions” by Taylor Lorenz, the author talks about Spotlight released by Snapchat how create make lots of money, she explains how they competition, and using three topics. They make more video content directly monetizable, as they explain “t determines payment amounts based on unique video views and proprietary internal metrics.” Spotlight competes with TikTok. Because they have many similar users and functions. The problem for creators is monetization was hard in other platforms, Spotlight makes it easier to earn money, so people use it. The Author gave many examples of the succussed creator. Spotlight is drawing in lots of famous creators from other apps, but as more and more people join, Spotlight’s money isn’t keeping up with what users want. This industry impacts many individuals, yet there are numerous challenges that require resolution.

I am using social media very early, but I’ve never used Snapchat. In recent years, I turn off almost all notifications on my phone because I don’t want to passively read messages. And I mostly watch long videos, I don’t like short videos; it can’t bring me information after watching didn’t have any thinking or recording in my brain. But I often watch short videos unconsciously, because they directly use visual impact and peculiar content to attract our brains to just look at it, even if the content may be meaningless. When playing the Fakey game, I found that the fake content is becoming increasingly like a mainstream source, with only the image featuring the main media logo distinguishing it. However, I struggle to determine which action to take: Share, Like, or Fact-Check. Through repeated plays, I found that typically, news with small or peculiar images almost was fake. Despite this, such content often has many likes, maybe it’s because people like new stuff.
