In Adichie’s TED talk “The danger of a single story “she talks about the problem with only knowing one story about people or places. She says this can make us believe in stereotypes, which aren’t fair or true. Adichie tells us to learn different stories so we can really understand each other and not just judge based on one thing we’ve heard. She believes that when we know more stories, we can be better friends and have less misunderstandings. It’s important to her that we see people as they really are, with lots of different parts to their lives.
My Opinion: Adichie’s TED talk is really inspiring. She tells us that knowing just one story about someone can make us think wrong things about them. Like, if you only hear bad stuff about a place or a person, you might miss all the good and interesting stuff about them. I myself have done that in the past. I used to judge people before knowing their whole story but I’m glad I don’t do that anymore. She says we should try to hear lots of stories about people. That way, we won’t just think of them in one way. We’ll see them as real people with many sides to their lives. It’s like getting to know a friend better by hearing all the different things that happened to them. Adichie wants us to understand that everyone is more than just one story. When we learn more, we can be better friends and not judge people too quickly. It’s important to her that we see people as they really are.

Hey Mazida! I agree completely with your opinion on the talk. It is absolutely important to not judge people before really getting to know them and to not just listen to the bad things you might have heard. I also wanted to say it’s commendable that you were able to admit to maybe judging people too harshly in the past. I think it’s something we all do and have to move past.
Your thoughts on Adichie’s TED talk are similar to her strong message about how dangerous it is to base your opinions on just one story about a person or place. You’ve clearly thought about how limited it can be to judge others based on incomplete information. This shows that you value hearing different points of view. Your reaction is more real because it comes from your own experience of getting over the urge to judge people before you know their whole story. You’ve clearly been personally affected by Adichie’s talk and been moved to think about yourself, which shows how powerful her message is.
This looks really good so far but there’s some information that should provide for an example a detail from the text to show how this story changes. It is true that society changes it all but what people believe from one side to another and how I can relate to it. A book by it’s cover shouldn’t been judged.
