How does the author feel about her writing abilities?
Shannon had a great deal of self-assurance regarding her writing ability. “worked diligently on her honors English class, passing with an A.” and “never had a GPA bellow 3,” the author expresses her utmost confidence in her writing ability. She made it plain that she thought writing was a strong suit of hers and that she loved doing it. But she felt disoriented after the exam, doubted her writing abilities, and ultimately told the reader, “I never again felt the same love of reading and writing” to leave the reader with the impression that she would never again enjoy writing.
How does the author feel about standardized tests?
When I read about Shannon relationship between the standardized exam after she discovered that she had failed the writing component of the test. She had the sensation that her entire universe had collapsed. “To make matters worser, most of the classmates, including some who were barley passing eighth-grade English, passed that part.” This is a sad quote since she is writing about something that she truly enjoys, and she had no idea that writing would have such a terrible impact on her emotional state.
If you were Mrs. Brown, the author’s English teacher, what would you say when the author asked: “How can I get A’s in all my English classes but fail the writing part of the proficiency test twice?”
“How can I get A’s in all my English classes but fail the writing part of the proficiency test twice?” My advice to Shannon, if I were Mrs. Brown, would be to let her know that I admire her commitment to doing well in English class and that I found her papers to be impressive. Although I am familiar with you written respond. The people who read the proficiency test will not guess; Their opinion of your writing style may differ from yours, yet you could consider it good. Not everyone thinks the same way, and some people may hold a different opinion on your writing.
How do you feel about your writing abilities?
I’m not really confident in my writing abilities. Like, how the author stated, “This experience showed me just how differently my writing skills could be judge by various readers.” My relationship with writing tends to lead me to overthink and feel anxious about what I want to write about. I find it hard to get my thoughts together and making sure it makes sense. But at the same time, I like writing because it helps me find my creative flow and challenges me with my thoughts and facts.

This a great post, I fully agree with your response if you were the authors teachers, the importance of someone knowing you and understanding your writing style is major to your grade. That’s something I haven’t really thought of before. I also feel the same way about my writing ability, it can be anxiety- inducing to have to turn in work that shows who are and then get a bad grade that ultimately leads to the turn out of your GPA.
