  1. I learned how infant teachers can support infant language and communication skills, different theories of language acquisition, and the influence of culture in infant-toddler child care settings after completing the modules in ECE 209 Lecture and Seminar. While reading the article “Kovach & Da Rosvoseles (2011),” I gained insight into why it is important to demonstrate and model to other adults the importance of acknowledging and including babies in conversations, as well as more effective approaches to communicating with children. This information will now allow me to consider the personal preferences of babies when communicating with them.

  2. This week we learned about how babies’ language develops and why it is important to talk to babies. It is important to make sure you are communicating with the baby in order to form a relationship with them. This also helps the baby learn how to communicate with others as they grow up. Talking the baby through things that you are doing helps send a clear message to the baby that they are involved and have opinions.
This connects to my goals because it helps me gain more techniques in helping infants develop correctly

  3. This week I learned how important it is to talk to the babies directly. telling them your every move by using words will help them understand better what you are doing and to give meaning to words help them learn as well. Giving the child a chance to let them show us what they understand instead of us doing it for them all the time shows that we value them. encouraging the babies to use language through their interests can help them develop it faster.

  4. What did you learn in this week’s modules for ECE 209-Lecture and Seminar that connects to your goals?
I learned this week how infants develop language skills and how infant teachers help them to learn the language in the first year. Also, I have learned how to interview with the family. This material will help me to meet my goals in future to develop communication skills with infants and their families.

  5. This week I learned babies can communicate different ways and also they are really good at communication better than what we think. When you don’t see the babies name n you’re talking about the baby and the babies in front they can feel left out. That’s one thing that I didn’t know and I used to do that.

  6. I learned about the importance of treating children like humans instead of objects. This would include addressing them by name, speaking to them instead of at them, informing them about your next move as it pertains to them. Doing these things helps the child to feel safe And more in control of their lives. When a child knows what to expect next they are more likely to have a positive reaction to it. Therefore I will apply the skills within my classroom so I can physically see the impact that he has on the child’s behavior and sense of security.

This material will help me reach my goals because it will allow me to be a better caregiver because I am now going to apply these methods with intentions to establish a more trusting bond with my students.
