  1. What did you learn in this week’s modules for ECE 209-Lecture and Seminar that connects to your goals?

In this Module, I learned about attachments. How to promote positive attachments and that Children with secure attachments are more likely to feel confident in exploring their environment, which allows them to learn and grow. It is important for babies to form emotional connections with their caregivers because when these attachments are formed the child would feel safe. If babies feel safe parents would feel confident and secure leaving their child in your care. I learned that attachment is a huge part of the development of an infant’s life. Also, there has been a test called “Strange Situation Video” which shows how differently infants act based on their attachments. And as teachers, we have to take care of ourselves, keep ourselves emotionally stable so that we can help children develop.

I never knew that attachments were formed at such an early age and that it is set in stone by the age of 3 how all your future relationships will be. I realized it is so important to be emotionally mature and ready for a child because if you are not it will really poorly impact the child. I learned how to support a child’s emotional needs in the classroom and how to be there for my future students.
I feel like I was able to meet my goals this week by learning more techniques into forming a baby into a functioning adult at an early age by teaching them healthy relationships. And I was also able to see the world from the infant perspective a little more which will help me be able to work with them better.
