Module 12: Commentary Paper Draft (11/9-11-11/15)

Module Objectives

In this module you will:

  1. Write your Commentary Paper draft

Assignment #1 Commentary Paper Draft

Commentary Paper Draft

6+ pages, type written, double-spaced,12 pt font, 1” margins, APA format for citations

In this paper, you will be introducing the infant and family to their future infant teacher.   Imagine that the baby will be starting in the infant class you work in next week.  Because you will be one of the baby’s key teachers, you were one of the teachers who visited the family in their home to get to know the infant and family (Block, 2014; Goldsmith & Thielhiemer, 2015). Before the baby and family starts the program, you have to share what you learned during home visit — your interview with the family and observation of the infant — with your colleagues in the infant classroom. The report should be written in the context of sharing information that will assist the other infant teachers you work with to get to know, support the family, provide individualized routines, and incorporate the baby’s culture into your classroom.

This will involve not only sharing information, but analyzing all of the information you have gathered about the baby and family to give a coherent and thoughtful picture of the baby and family. You will describe the child and family in detail, then integrate what you learned in ECE 209 with your description.

Follow these steps to write your Commentary Paper:

  1. Review the Commentary Paper Guidelines
  2. Use this chart as a guide for writing your Commentary Paper Draft.
  3. Complete the Commentary Paper Self-Assessment Rubric (download the document, save it to your device, complete it, and save it again) and submit the Commentary Paper Self-Assessment rubric along with your Commentary Paper
  4. Submit your Commentary Paper Draft and Self-Assessment rubric on ECE 209-Blackboard, in the Assignments section, under Commentary Paper Draft

Note:  You are expected to revise your Commentary Paper Draft based on the comments & feedback you receive to create your Commentary Paper final version.
