Module Objectives

In this module you will:

    • Write an Experience Plan
    • Finish writing your Play Materials Zine article
    • Revise your Commentary Paper
    • Reflect on what you learned during this module

Assignment #1: Experience Plan

 

After watching the video, create an Experience Plan.  An Experience Plan  is a type of a lesson plan.  Pick 1 of the following activities to use as the activity for your Experience Plan:

    1. Tunnel activity
    2. Water play

Fill in the pages 1-3 of the  Experience Plan based on the class and what the teacher did.  On page 4, what goals do you think the teacher had for the activity? What did she want the children to practice in each developmental domain?

Use this sample Experience Plan and PowerPoint to help you construct your Experience Plan.

Here is information on math skills , the skills and processes for each developmental domain , and the NYS Early Learning Guidelines to help you  construct your goals.

Assignment #2: Commentary Paper Final

You submitted, and received, feedback on your Commentary Paper Draft in Module 12. Follow these steps to revise and submit your Commentary Paper, final version.

  1. Listen to the feedback your received on your Commentary Paper Draft
  2. Use the feedback you received on your Commentary Paper Draft to revise and make changes your Commentary Paper.
  3. Download and save the Commentary Paper Self-Assessment to your device. Complete the Commentary Paper Self-Assessment, then save it again.
  4. Log onto Blackboard for ECE 209-Lecture, click on Assignments in the course menu, go to ‘Commentary Paper Final’ the upload your:
      1. Completed Commentary Paper Self-Assessment
      2. Revised Commentary Paper Final

Assignment #3: Play Materials Zine

What should you do this week?

This week continue writing your play materials zine article!

  • Go into the Google folder for your group and find the “Play Materials Zine Article (Group Name)” Google Doc
  • Use the information from the Google documents from Modules 5-11 to create your article
  • Each person/ role should work on writing the following sections:
    • Purple & Blue– Cognitive & Math, Language, Communication Skills & Play
    • Red & Yellow – Physical (Fine & Gross Motor) & Sensory Processing, Social-Emotional, Introduction & Conclusion

Assignment #4: Self-Reflection

At the end of the semester you will determine your grade for ECE 209 based on your self-assessment of what you have learned. In preparation for your self-assessment, answer the questions below; you will answer these questions at the end of each module so you have a record of what you have learned over the semester. You can answer the questions here on Open Lab or create a journal on Blackboard (which would be private).

  • What did you learn in this module?

    • Skills
    • Insights (connections you made or “ah-ha’s” you had about the material)
  • How will the material from this module better prepare you to work with infants?
