1. Answer: I would because it allows children allows our youngest learners a chance to acclimate to a new environment and/or reacquaint themselves with the school they’ve been away from for the past two months. It offers each child an opportunity to feel a sense of security and build a sense of trust within the classroom.
2. Answer: I would because every child needs a chance to reconnect and find their sense of comfort in the environment. With phase in it provides them the time they need to adjust and successfully begin their learning journey.
3. Answer: Yes, because I may receive information on child development, health, and well-being, and on sources of support for parents themselves. Parents also learn about available services such as developmental screenings, and enrollment in any benefits they or their children may need. Helps prevent child abuse and neglect. Helps increases school readiness & success. Promotes early literacy. Supports the families well-being, while emphasizing on culture and languages.
4. Answer: No, because I don’t need anyone needing to check on me and my kid at home but at the same time is an opportunity for my child’s teacher to come visit him or her in his or her home prior to the start of school.
1. Would you want to work in a infant classroom that has phase in? Why?
Answer: yes i would work in an infant classroom that has phase-in because this allows the child to explore his/her new environment and it gives you the opportunity to visit the families in their home and just have a one on one conversation with the families and get to know them on deeper level.
2. Would you want your baby to go to a program that has phase-in? Why?
Answer: Yes, i would want to let my child to go to a program that has phase-in because this will give my child the opportunity to connect with other people and to give the teachers a chance to get to know our family and feeling relieved that my child is in a safe environment when he/she is not in my care is a good thing.
3. As an infant teacher, would you want to conduct home visits? Why?
Answer: Yes, i would because it allows me to get to know the family and the child better outside of a school environment. i would get to connect with them deeper and learn about them, their culture, their beliefs and more. It will help me better understand the child what i can do as a infant teacher to help flourish the growth of this infant.
4. Do you want your baby’s teachers to visit your home? Why?
Answer: Honestly yes i would, because it’s an opportunity for the teacher to my home and learn more about my family and my child. And to discuss things that will benefit him/her as they grow.
1. It would be a great option for the children to accommodate themselves with the environment. It gives the children time to get adjust to the new colors, patterns, the object placement, and to see what’s going to happen in that environment.
2. I would like to incorporate a phase-in because it gives the child extra time to look around their environment and start to touch and observe what’s going to be their new environment.
3. It would be a great opportunity to conduct home visits to see the children’s environment and how they act. It helps to see where they sleep, eat, and where is their usual play area. It would be a great way to provide a connection with the parent to know their culture and perhaps their languages.
4. I wouldn’t be comfortable to invite a teacher into my own home, but its great for other parents and teachers who have a close bond to communicate in an environment where the infant is most accustomed to.
Tamia — Thanks for your comment. Thanks for your honesty about home visits. I wonder, why would it be uncomfortable for you to have an infant teacher come into your home? How can we frame conversations with families about home visits so that all families feel comfortable about the experience? What could the implications be if a teacher visited some homes of the families in a class, but not all of the families? I wonder, how do families — and you if you were the parent starting in an infant classroom with your baby — benefit from phase-in? How does your comment specifically connect to the readings and materials in this assignment?

Tamaris — Thanks for your comment. Home visits enable infant teachers to get to know babies and families better — and for babies & families to get to know infant teachers better. I wonder, how can we frame the conversation about home visits so that families know the reasons the infant teacher is coming? There are many benefits to phase-in; I wonder, how do families — and how would you as the parent of a baby — benefit from phase in? How do infant teachers benefit from phase in? How does your comment specifically connect to the materials in this assignment?
Hey Tamaris! I totally agree with your comments. I believe if we as teachers get a chance to visit their homes we will be able to have a better understanding and maybe make them feel a little bit comfortable in a school environment.
1)Would you want to work in a infant classroom that has phase in? Why?
I would want to work in a classroom that is providing phase-in because, I feel like I would be able to understand the child more. Parents are experiencing the routines and how gentle we care for their children. Parents will be able to get tips/ strategies to try at home with their child.
2)Would you want your baby to go to a program that has phase-in? Why?
I would want my baby to go to a program that has phase-in because the teachers will be building on their relationship. In Goldsmith & Theihiemer (2014) it states ” Phase-in provides teachers with resources they need to help children with separation (and other events) …(p.1). Teachers will comfort my baby and make my baby feel safe in their program. In the article it also states ” Infants form attachments or bonds with the important people in their lives when they learn to trust a predictable environment that meets their needs” (p.3). I would want my baby to be happy and safe in this new environment.
3)As an infant teacher, would you want to conduct home visits? Why?
As an infant teacher, I would want to conduct home visits because home visits is giving me a chance to understand my children’s home environment. In Block (2014) it states “Home visit allows educators to better understand a child’s home environment, establish strong relationships with families, share tools and strategies that support families in learning about children development , emphasizes parent’s role in being their child’s first teachers….. (p.1) I want my parents to be able to be part of their children’s learning. Parents will feel valued and appreciated when they are able to have an opinion in their child’s life.
4)Do you want your baby’s teachers to visit your home? Why?
I would appreciate if my baby’s teacher came to the house and visited. I would feel more open to share my concerns and any doubts I have that I was not able to share with her during drop off or pick up. The teacher coming to my house will show me that she cares about my child’s learning and my culture and she is doing everything to try to make us feel comfortable and less stress or guilty.

2. Would you want your baby to go to a program that has phase-in? Why?
I would definitely want my baby to go to a program that has phase in because it values both the child and the parent as well as offer the guidance needed when entering a new program (Goldsmith 83).
3. As an infant teacher, would you want to conduct home visits? Why?
As an infant teacher, I would like to conduct home visit because it offers me the opportunity to get to know the infant and parent on a personal level and from that gain their perspective and knowledge on their child, which allows me to best care for them.
4. Do you want your baby’s teachers to visit your home? Why?
I would be open to having my baby’s teacher visit our home because it would allow me to get to know the teacher better and allow my child to get familiar with them. Allowing a teacher into you home you are able to build a stronger bond and in turn produce great results in a child’s education
1) Would you want to work in a infant classroom that has phase in? Why?
I would love to work in an infant classroom that has phase-in because of the benefits both families and babies experience. It can help with transition and help children to adapt much faster to the environment. This would give the daycare an opportunity to see what is it that the mother does to comfort the baby and understand the baby that can help the teacher when she is caring for the baby on her own.
2) Would you want your baby to go to a program that has phase-in? Why?
I would love to for my baby to go to a program that has a phase-in because I know that it will help my baby transition where it would support him and help him develop with the social domain.
3) As an infant teacher, would you want to conduct home visits? Why?
I know that many families are pretty private with their homes but I would encourage parents to consider it because this will help us better to understand what type of environment the baby desires. This would help infant teachers create an environment in their classroom to help assist babies transition.
4) Do you want your baby’s teachers to visit your home? Why?
I wouldn’t mind that my babies teacher visit my home. I have allowed it before and it actually helped my son engage more with his teachers because they were in his home and it made him feel close to his teacher. They bonded much quicker because he got the impression that she was a friend or family visiting my home.
