Hey
This is Luis Martinez, you incorporated the five elements in your responses, you talks about how each is being showed in each virtual classroom , you mentioned how it connects with the common core studies Literacy, math, Science, and Social Studies.
VIDEO 1:
Elements shown in this video that are shown are relationships, environment, supporting learning and cultural sustaning. They are demonstrated by the children playing/ interacting with one another. The teaching is supporting their play/learning by prompting questions, adding comments and follow up questions, speaking Spanish to her students and rephrasing it in English to the other students By speaking Spanish cultural sustainability is being demonstrated. Having pretend play supports environs int the classroom, .
VIDEO 2:
The elements shown are the development of relationships, environment and supporting learning. There are shown by supporting the leaning the kids are interested in, prompting the activities. Relationship are supported by speaking to the children interest as well as the teachers and engaging with them. Supporting learning is shown by assisting their curiosity, having multiple ways to engage, and allowing them to be independent.
VIDEO 3:
The Element show in this video are environment, curriculum, and supporting learning. The different activities for the children support environment in the classroom. The curriculum is assisted by the experiments they are doing. Supporting of Learning is shown by the kids being hands on and manipulating objects. Their skills and abilities are being supported.
VIDEO 4:
The elements shown are culturally sustaining and curriculum. The teacher is using Spanish and supporting cultural sustaining by doing so. As the teacher reads tot he class and interacts with them she is supporting the curriculum.
I like ur video 4 comment
Hey
This Luis Martinez, you did a good job at integrating the 5 elements into your responses, you gave examples of how each connect to the preschool curriculum (Based on children’s interest).
Video 1)
The teacher is allowing the children to participate in dramatic play that is a hands-on activity. The teacher is doing an ask and response to the children developing their language skills and culturally sustaining the children by communicating and responding to her students who are speaking in spanish. The teacher is teaching an integrated curriculum as she has created this dramatic play of a doctor’s office in order and allowed the children to make connections and engage in a meaningful activity that is connected to real life. The teacher was building relationships with the students by asking them about the children’s interest in becoming a veterinarian because she likes dogs or a doctor. The classroom is supporting their learning by having enough age-appropriate materials and posters to encourage healthy nutrition.
Video 2)
This classroom is following the emergent curriculum. The teacher is allowing the students to lead the activity in an outdoor space for a large group. They are learning to foster independence by making their own decisions about their engagement in play. The teacher is supporting relationships with the children by responding to the children’s interest and communicating with the children answering their questions and encouraging them to form bonds with their peers by them working together.
Video 3) This classroom is using an integrated curriculum. This was a group activity set up by the teacher where the children are allowed to use the tools in front of them and manipulate the water and the colors they are making. The teacher has the children’s work displayed in the classroom giving the children a sense of belonging in the space they occupy. The teacher is fostering their curiosity by encouraging them to try new things by mixing colors and glitter. She is also culturally sustaining them by adding some Spanish when she was speaking to the children. This was an activity to help foster the childrens independence in a group setting learning through a hands on activity.
Video 4) This classroom is using the emergent curriculum because the teacher is allowing the students to choose their activity which was to read aloud. The children are leading this activity inside of their classroom that is fostering their independence, and imagination. The classroom has age-appropriate materials and a separate space for this activity to be conducted with a smaller group. The children are enhancing their language and communication skills and practicing taking turns.
I agree your video 4 answer
Video #1
The elements we see in this video are relationships, Supportive learning, Environment, and Culturally sustaining. The teacher is very hands on with the students, especially the child that speaks Spanish. She is capable of speaking and understanding Spanish, making it easier for the child to understand what is going on and to provide her with a safe environment. The teacher also encourages the student to think about the emotions/feelings of others around her. The classroom has educational toys for them to utilize and tap into their imagination with dramatic play.
Video #2
The elements we see in this video are relationship, Environment, and Supportive Learning. The children are intrigued by the idea of a treasure hunt and go through mini obstacle courses with a treasure map in hand. The teacher encourages their imaginative play and plays along with them. You could see other children joining the hunt and the teacher encourages the child to wait for his new friends “treasure hunters”. She also stresses the importance of sharing when some of the children weren’t able to dig up anything.
Video #3
The elements we see in this video are relationships, Curriculum, Environment, and Supportive Learning. The children are engaging in a science experiment and the teachers have laid out the proper instruments for them to utilize. The teachers are also asking questions in regards to the science experiment and asking them what they see changing in each of their tubes. This activity is allowing them to experiment on their own.
Video #4
The elements we see in this video are Relationships, Curriculum and Supportive learning. The children are engaged in reading time with puppets on their hand. The one child is reading out loud to the other students and the teacher. The teacher ask questions that reassures the child is understanding what it is that he had read.
Classroom #1:
The video demonstrated a pretend play with a small group of girls with their teacher. It is an emergent play which appeared by playing doctor office, and the teacher tried to follow the girls in their interest. She communicated with girls who was interested to the patient doll. Then she addressed the girl who interested to her dog. The medical material occurred an appropriate environment that facilitate and support learning. the teacher is asking the girls about the health state of the doll patient and guide them to effectively use the medical supply such as measuring the doll. This demonstrate an integrated curriculum they use math and science. The relationship was demonstrated, the teacher asks question and try to understand her student. She included another language to help another student which demonstrate cultural sustain element.
Classroom #2:
Relationship, communication, cooperation, are occurred children are engaging in dramatic play with large group and their teacher who communicate with them and ask them question as well as encourage them to express their knowledge, idea and feeling. An environment that support learning is present by playing hunt treasure, learn how to do leader ship, exert individual skills and abilities, the child guide his classmate with map and passing all barriers to arrive to the goal together which is find the treasure and share it.
Classroom #3:
Integrated curriculum, environment, support learning and relationships are the element demonstrated in this video. Children are engaging in pretend and onlooker play where they were doing a scientific experience. Supporting them to learn new concept through science experiment by mixing different liquids and encouraging them to discover independently what the changes occurs by doing that.
Classroom # 4:
The element demonstrated in this video is cultural sustaining, environment, and emergent curriculum. The teacher responds to the interest of the child to read in Spanish home language, this will permit to feel comfortable and thus expand his imagination and enhance his reading skills.
Video # 1 At the Medical Office
The elements that I see being demonstrated in the classroom is the integration of the emergent curriculum where the curriculum is primarily based on children’s interest, building-on relationships between student to student and teacher to student, in other words promoting secure teacher-child relationships, the layout and design of the classroom supports learning and fosters peer relationships through small groups that takes place in centers. Through Dramatic play (medical office)children accept and assign roles, and then act them out, allows young children pretend to be someone or something different from themselves, and dramatize situations and actions to go along with the roles they have chosen to play. The three young girls are actively exploring the purpose that each medical instrument serves for, through the use of their sensory mechanism and they are getting a firsthand experience of how these medical tools are used. The teacher asks Lisa if the baby is sick, the teacher then asks Lisa what medication she would the sick baby, Dulce is the mother of the sick child, Dulce says that she also has a sick dog with her that she brought along. The teacher communicates with them in both languages Spanish and English.
Video # 2
In video number two the setting/playtime takes place outside of the classroom, where Preschoolers are in mission in the search of a gold treasure box, Cody takes the role of the dominant leader, who is in charge of leading his group all the way to the treasure. The teacher encourages everyone to participate as a teamwork, everyone is involved in the activity, everyone gets to say something as to where they should turn or go over, no one gets left back. Cody along with his group go through different obstacle courses. The teacher talks to every child independently when needed, this demonstrates that she responds to every child’s needs. The elements that I see being demonstrated outside classroom is the integration of the emergent curriculum where the curriculum is primarily based on children’s interest for this case it was about either an adventure or in the search of the treasure hunt, each child had a map to look for directions and clues, this topic correlates perfectly with social studies and the sciences. Building-on relationships between student to student and teacher to student, in other words promoting secure teacher-child relationships, where the teacher validates every child’s suggestions of where to go or where they should dig.
Video # 3
The elements that I see being demonstrated in the classroom is the integration of the emergent curriculum where the curriculum is primarily based on children’s interest, where children are testing the materials science instruments provided to them, testing them with other materials this correlates with the sciences on the testing of non-harmful chemicals. Building-on relationships between student to student and teacher to student, in other words promoting secure teacher-child relationships, the teachers encourage every preschool student to speak with good manners “that’s the word we want to hear” Please and thank you “Communication is showed. The testing of non-harmful chemicals with other materials promotes curiosity, because the children are seeing what causes the chemical to react in a certain way, and what are the outcomes. This hands-on activity enables children to do as much as possible for themselves.
Video #4
The elements that I see being demonstrated in the classroom is the integration of the emergent curriculum where the curriculum is primarily based on children’s interest, where the small group of children are reading together out loud the story about the goldilocks bears, they know how to read a book properly, read left to tight and top to bottom. Even though everyone is participating in the read aloud, Andy is the reader who keeps reading, he holds the book with both hands, he turns the pages using his fingers. Andy integrates dramatic voice to give a sense of bringing the characters to live. Supporting learning is also present in the curriculum the children are engaged and manipulating the materials provided to them, the puppets it’s a way for children to better have an understanding of how the characters look like and how are they are being described based on the story.
Luis, I support your video 1 comment, the children were exploring the medical arena and I also liked how how teacher prompted them to say and think more by asking them questions.

I reviewed this module
VIDEO 1:
There is cultural readability in this video since the teacher is speaking Spanish and English. The bilingual classroom also shows that the it is supporting the child’s learning. The fact that the children are playing is also showing a learning environment that is guided by student’s interests.
VIDEO 2:
The teachers interact with the students in a supportive manner. Their interests are being supported as well, the level of engagement allows for the classroom environment to support their interests . The children’s curiosity, open endedness, and independence are all being fostered.
VIDEO 3:
Experiments are performed in a way that supports learning and sees value in the kinesthetic (hands-on) approach to learning which speaks to student’s interest.
VIDEO 4:
Like the first video, the teacher speaks Spanish which allows the environment to mirror the children’s bilingual household. As a result, this classroom, like the classroom in video 1, is culturally adaptable.
Video #1: The children were pretend playing doctor, the teacher engaged in the child’s play by acting as a nurse and jotting down what was wrong with the “baby” and what was given. This shows communication and language skills. The teacher asked a child if she wanted to be a veterinarian and later explaining a pet doctor.
Video #2: Children were playing in the sand and discovering hidden treasures. The teacher was encouraging the students and asking them numerous of questions. She is showing communication skills.
Video #3: The children are working on a science project, you hear the teacher asking the children a serious of question based on the testing tubes, such as what is happening and furthermore. this environment is open and based on how to ask questions.
Video #4: The children are taking turns on reading from a book. The children are asked questions about the book by the teacher. The children are exposed to literacy, helping expand their communication skills.
video#1
This video shows elements of curriculum, supporting learning and cultural sustaining. We see
how the teacher is supporting the child to take care of the sick doll and curriculum around the
sick doll. Teacher tries to bring other helpful elements to help her to fix her doll. As well,
introducing new elements to learn, such as measuring and giving medicine several different
ways. The teacher was asking several of questions about how to solve the problems. I see cultural
sustaining, when one of the children is speaking in another language, the teacher understands
her language and answers her in both languages her own as well in English. This way the
teacher is trying to keep her in the cultural element to keep her comfortable and trusting this environment.
video#2
This video shows elements of curriculum, support learning and environment. The teacher is
introducing a friendly environment to a group of kids in outdoor space and explains how friendly
and organized they must play a treasure hunt game. The teacher is introducing different learning
skills such as detailing the treasure and how to use tools to dig the sand in order to find
treasure. Children are following her orders and understand play game rules very well.
video#3
This video shows elements of curriculum, environment and supporting learning.
In the classroom children are very concentrated on scientific project. During the project, the teacher is
trying to add some important information and pinpoint how things are changing, she tries to
show children the different reactions from the projects, and let children make choices about
what color they can create. We see how children are very much engaged in projects which
inspired a lot of curious questions about it.
video#4
In this video we see all elements of development in developing relationships, curriculum,
environment, supporting learning and culturally sustaining. One of the children is reading a book
and the rest of the kids are listening to him. The child is telling the story by watching images
from the book. Teacher is supporting him with cultural sustaining by continuing speaking in the
same language as the child. Also, we see how the teacher develops curriculum asking extra
questions around the story. For example, how some personages may feel, while they are
falling. That way the child pays extra attention to the personages
In video 1 the element showing is communication. The teacher is asking questions to the girls on how the doll is feeling while the little girls are pretending to be a doctor.
Video 2 the elements thats is demonstrated here is interactions. The teacher is interacting with the preschool age kids. She’s also, teaching them how to look at the map in order to find the treasure.
In Video 3 we see the mid doing a science project and the teacher interact with them by asking questions. Also, the teacher explains the different reaction the experiment has.
The element in video 4 is communication. The kids are reading the book while the teacher ask them questions about the book. Also the is a cultural sustaining when the teacher answer in spanish since the kid is talking in spanish.
