In video one the type of play I see is solitary play , the children are in two separate blow up pools. The children are not play together they are playing alone. After awhile the children are in the same pool the stage we see is parallel play the children are together and are playing with the same toys but they are not playing together.
In video 2 we see Cooperative play the children are playing together, they are both interested in the playing.
In video 3 we see Solitary play ,the boy is playing by himself and is engaged with his play he us playing kitchen, Solitary play is when a child plays alone. They are not interested in playing with others quite yet. This child is playing by himself .
In video 4 we see Cooperative play, the girls are all playing together, they are playing hide and seek. In Cooperative play a child plays together with others and has interest in both the activity and other children involved in playing. The girls were all playing and were involved in the play.
In the beginning of video 5 we see parallel play, the children are playing with the chalk although they are together they are not playing together. As the video continues another child comes and we see some interaction between two of the children. During that small portion the video we saw Associate Play When a child starts to interact with others during play, but there is not a large amount of interaction. At the end of the video we see Solitary play the boy goes off to the side and does his own thing.
In video 6 we see Cooperative play the children are playing together and are involved in both the activity and the children playing. Here we see team work, the children are playing for a common purpose.
Hi Emily,
For video 2, do you believe both kids are engaging in cooperative play? Even though the baby is kind of just looking? I had a hard time with this one, as to me it first appeared to be cooperative play but the more I observed it looked to me as unoccupied play for the baby. Reason being, the body movements, even though the baby is laughing I myself find it difficult to say the baby is indeed part of cooperative play.
VIDEO 1:
In video 1 I see solitary play in the beginning, both children are content playing along for a short while. Later in the video we can see associate play when the older child joins the girl in the pool. While they both splash, and imitate the movements, this is also show by the boy when he goes towards the bag of the pool to be alone, yet along side the girl. Even though they do embrace each other I’m not sure it can be labeled as cooperative play.
Video2: In video 2 the smaller child is demonstrating unoccupied play, the baby is seen moving their hands, fingers and body through our the video. Cooperative play and Parallel play is also show in the video, as the younger child does not really interact wit the older child but is side along side of other child. Cooperative play can be interpreted in the video by the one the older child is interacting with the younger one.
Video3: In video 3 the “chef in the making” is demonstrating solitary play. The child is pretend cooking alone, and seems to be happy doing so. I’m not sure if when he is speaking he is looking at a teacher or looking at another child, which cousin then be onlooker or parallel play.
Video 4: In this video the children demonstrate cooperative play. We hear them as one girl lay down the rules to the game, who is going to be who in the game. The three girls engage and play as a team/group.
Video 5: In this video the children demonstrate associate play, they are all sharing materials, making comments but not playing as a whole. Given this information it can also be looked as Parallel play, even though the children are playing alongside each other they are all doing something different. Their drawings are all individual not part of one big picture. It also appears to be solitary play as some of the kids are enjoying drawing on their own.
Video 6: In this video 3 of the boys demonstrate cooperative play, by playing a ball game together. Although the rules of the game are not understood or taken in a positive way by one boy it is still cooperative play, it shows they understand at this age that some games may have rules. There is one boy with a sword that is exhibiting onlooker play, he is along side the other boys but not interacting with them while they play, He is staying to himself but keeping an eye on what is goin on.
For video 2 i also had a hard time . I was stuck between cooperative play and unoccupied play. I ended choosing cooperative play. I choose it because when looked into it the children were playing together . I agree with you on unoccupied play for the smaller child .
I guess its one of those things were it depends on peoples perspective, we all observe differently.
Thanks for answering my question! Love being able to interact and communicate how we all see things in different perspectives.
your answer was very great.
Hi Maria. Great responses. Some of them were a little tricky because they seemed to fit every category. But I enjoyed your responses and your explanations as to why to chose what you chose. I also think some of the class missed the article on “Types of play” where it broke down the five types.
video 1 – I notice solitary playing in the start.. both children are playing and getting along for a short period of time. Furthering along the video another person playing with the older child in the pool. Splashing water with same movements.
video 2 – I notice 2 children that where small showing unoccupied playing. The baby is waving a moving up hands. With a mix of parallel play showing when the younger child doesn’t really in engage. But is on the other side near.
video 3 – I notice the chef in making showing solitary play. Child was pretending to play alone but eye contact with others that shows parallel play.
video 4 – I notice cooperative play . When the little girl gaves rules for playing the game
video 5- I notice associate play sharing items. Sharing there feedback but not playing as one.
giving information shows parallel play. With some children along side
Hi Delesah,
very detailed with video #1 ! great
good observation , good details . you were very descriptive.
For video #1 I believe it is a parallel play because the children are playing next to each other.
Very good wording and detailed
1. What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
2. What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
Video#1
I see functional play or exploratory play. Evidence is the children are playing in two separate blow up pools. They are not playing together, they are playing alone.
The stages of play I observe are both solitary and parallel. They end up in the same blow up pool, they are not playing with each other, but they are playing side by side.
Video#2
I see unoccupied, cooperative, and parallel.
Unoccupied the baby is moving the body through the video. Cooperative and parallel the younger child does not interact with the older child. The older child is doing peek boo to the baby.
Video#3
I see sociodramtic play, the child is make believe playing in a kitchen. This stage is solitary, because he’s playing in the daycare/so called kitchen by his self.
Video#4
Cooperative play, the girls are playing and seek. They are playing together with each other, the three girls plays well together.
Video#5
Parallel play, the children are playing outside on the ground with chalk. They are playing but not with each other. Also I see associate play when a child start to interact with others during play. Not much interaction going on. Solitary play he goes off to the side and does his own thing.
Video #6
Collaborative, children are interacting with each other playing ball. They are playing together in a positive way.
Hi Keneshia,
great work!
Watch the videos below. For each video, answer the following questions:
1. What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
2. What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
1. What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
Answer:
Video #1 – I notice solitary playing in the beginning of the video, both children are playing side to side in their water pools with their toys. Further into the video the toddler boy joins the toddler girl in her pool and begin to play and splash water. I see stages of parallel play the children are together and are playing with the same toys but they are not playing together.
Video #2 – I notice unoccupied, cooperative, and parallel playing. The girl toddler does cooperative and parallel making sure to be active with the infant baby by playing peek a boo. The infant does not interact with the older child.
Video #3 – I notice solitary playing. The toddler boy is playing cooking alone, seems very engaged and happy by himself. He is speaking and looking to the person who is recording which could be the teacher or may be talking to another child which could then be parallel or onlooker play.
Video #4 – I notice cooperative playing. The three girls the girls are all playing together, crawling, they are also playing hide and seek together as a group.
Video #5 – I notice associate playing. The children are all outside playing with the chalk and drawing, engaging with one anther, talking to each other.
Video #6 – I notice cooperative playing. The four boys are playing ball together. They may not all know the rules but they understand at this age that some games may have rules.
Hi Janete,
Do you believe the boy with the sword is also engaging in cooperative play? (video 6)
Hi Maria
seeing your question forces me to watch the video. by that i noticed that the boy with sward is engaging in solitary play because he was not interact with others as well as he was focusing on the movement that he did with his sward.
Hey Janate, I like and agree with your answers. For Video #5 I was having trouble deciding whether or not they were engaging in associative play or parallel play. Because they were all doing their own thing but still talking to each other.
What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
VIdeo 1 is the parallel play. First, they played together and then the boy was moved to the blue pool. After a few movements, the boy returned to the baby girl pink pool and they played together. We can see they are not interacting together. They play water in the pool together or separately, but their play does not actually overlap. In this stage, children are not really engaging in a social exchange. This stage is like a warm up exercise – children work side by side on the same activity, practicing skills and learning new methods to engage together.
VIdeo 2 is Associative play. The big baby demonstrated his social skills to engage with a small baby during this video. The bid baby is interested in the small baby and he is so happy. He shared his emotion to the small baby. This type of play signifies a shift in the child. Instead of being more focused on the activity or object involved in play, children begin to be more interested in the other players.
Video 3 is the Solitary play. The baby demonstrated to make pizza, food, an open freezer and microwave. He does not notice or acknowledge other children in this video. This type of play occurs when children entertain themselves without any other social involvement.
Video 4 is Cooperative play. The children were demonstrated playing the hidden rules game goals. They were categorized by cooperative efforts between players in this video.
Video 5 is the Associative play. The children were demonstrated they are begin to be more interested in the other players. But , they are still more focused on the activity or object involved in play.
Video 6 is Cooperative play. The children adopt group goals, establish rules for play. The children complained about the rules and each other when they played soccer. It is engaged in cooperative play by staying close and helping them learn healthy expression of emotions and teach them problem solving skills.
I agree with all your answers. You give great explanations as to why you believe they are in that stage of play.
Love your response on how you maintain the difference stages
hey Yan,
this is really good work i agree with your respnses because they are very detailed and staright foward.
hi Kenneth, Shayna, and Elianna,
I learned from Youtube. It is very helpful for this class. I’m very happy study with your all.
Hi Yan, great work and explanations to your observations you explained why you felt the observations were the type of play you selected and I got the same answers from my observations as well.
1. What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
2. What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
Video #1: The children are engaging in exploratory play because they are outside playing with water. They are in the parallel play stage because they are playing next to each other but they are not interacting much with each other.
Video #2: I believe the children are engaging in functional play because peek a boo game teaches object permanence which is part of the child’s surroundings. The older child is in the cooperative stage of play, she is playing with the younger child. The baby is in the unoccupied stage of play.
Video #3: The boy is engaging in dramatic play, he is pretending to cook. He is in the solitary stage of play because he is not playing with any other children.
Video #4: The children are engaging in sociodramatic play because they are playing with a theme. They are in the dramatic play area and one girl is the owner and the other two are pets, a dog, and a cat. They are in the cooperative stage of play.
Video #5: The children are engaging in constructive play because they are drawing with chalk. There are mixed stages of play in this video. There is a mix of parallel and associative play. The children are sitting next to each other using the same box of chalk and there isn’t much interaction but they are talking.
Video #6: The boys are engaging in game with rules play. They are playing with a ball and have a set of rules. The stage of play they are in is cooperative play.
Hi Kenneth,
I really enjoyed reading your answers. Some of your answers made me look back at my own.
For video 6, (if asked this to other people) do you believe all the boys are engaging in in cooperative play?
Hey Maria I do not agree with Kenneth either, I personally observed associative play. The game was not organized properly although it seems the boys had a set role/ placement they had the same goal in perspective it was just not organized in a way to be considered cooperative play because the boys were unclear of the set rules.
Hi Kenneth. You had great responses and backed up your choices well. Video #2 had me a little hesitant as well because I wasn’t too sure where the peek a boo game fell under. But I did a little more research and it also made sense to me to use functional play.
Video 1
What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
They were playing sometimes together and sometimes alone. They were interacting, because the big brother was splashing water at the little brother. The little brother was imitating the big brother, by copying him splashing water out of the pool.
What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
There was parallel play because they were playing side by side with the same material but next to each other. There was associative play because they were playing together when the big brother got into the pool with the little brother. The younger brother was showing solitary play because he was playing by himself at first.
Video 2
2.What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
They were playing together . They were interacting, because the big brother was playing peek-a-boo with the little brother. The little brother was giggling
What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
There was collaborative play because they were developing complex play activities. The older brother was playing peek-a-boo the baby. He was showing affection, and building a relationship.
Video 3
What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
The boy was showing solitary play because he was playing by himself the whole time. He also was imagining that he was a chef, which is imaginary play, because he was cooking everything in the oven, he was in the kitchen, and he was imagining feeding people. He got all the pizza materials.
What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
The boy was showing solitary play because he was playing by himself the whole time.
Video 4
What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
The three girls are doing imaginary play. They are imitating animals by pretending to be a cat and a dog and a pet owner. They’re crawling on carpets like animals and making noise.
What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
They are showing collaborative play because they are all playing the same game and imagining the same things. It’s a complex play.
Video 5
What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
They are doing creative play. They’re all drawing. They are all creating something by using different colors to make art, and they are in a group.
What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
They are showing parallel play because they are drawing side by side and using the same materials. They also are showing associative play because they are not really collaborating on their drawings.
Video 6
What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
They are using collaborative, complex play. They are all interacting with each other and playing ball. They are talking to each other.
What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
The stage is parallel and associative, and collaborative. They are collaborating with each other and playing side by side.
hey shayna,
i agree with your responses because i had similar responses to the questions as well.
good job!
I also agree with your answers and explanations!
Video #1-I observe parallel play because the boys are playing alonside eachother but they are not nessacry playing with each other each child is focus on what they are doing and only notice each other when the water is splashing.
Video #2-I observe onlooker bahavior during this video because the little boy is playing peak a boo with the baby but the baby is not doing it back when the child gets closer to the baby the babu pushes him back but the baby watches him when he doing peak a boo.
Video #3- I observe solitary play during the video the child is alone and is pretending to bake pizza and making it he speaks to himself and is not really intreasted in what the camera person is saying to him he is very focus on what he is doing on his own.
Video #4- I observe cooperative play in this video because the girls are all playing with each other and look very intersted in what they are all playing and they all look very involved and they all interact eith each other.
Video #5- I observe assocaite play they have minimum interaction they are mostly focus on what they are drawing on the side walks.
Video #6-I observe cooperative play because they are all playing together the same game and they all interact even thought one kid walks away in the middle of the game its all a game they agree to play and wanted to play this game (kickball) requries multi players.
I agree with your answer for video #2. I was kind of having trouble about what to put for that video because I didn’t know whether I wanted to say the baby was playing with the girl as well or just watching her play.
Video 1)
The type of play I see in the video is parallel play. Both of the boys are side by side in their own pools interacting with the toys in the pool, the boy in the pink pool starts using his hands to push the water out of the pool the boy in the pink pool mimics him and proceeds to do the same.
Video 2)
The type of play I see in this video is onlooker play. The infant is too young to engage with the peek-a-boo play the little girl is encouraging and laughing. The infant makes sounds to communicate but does not join in because he is unable to.
Video 3)
The type of play I observed is a solitary dramatic play. The boy is alone he does not look at anyone in his surroundings he stays focused on the activity at hand.
Video 4)
The type of play I observed was cooperative dramatic play. The little girl gives everyone assigned roles for the dramatic play it is organized with a team workflow.
Video 5)
The type of play being observed in this video is parallel play. The children have a box of chalk with their own pieces of chalk they are huddled together and others join in to mimic the others who were already participating in the activity.
Video 6)
The type of play being observed is associative play, The children have a set goal but no set rules and the rules seem to change because the boy is complaining about the rules so its seems uncoordinated. The children are all interacting with each other wanting to play kickball but do not have set guidelines to play.
Video #1
What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
In this video we see functional/exploratory play. This child is in the kitty pool engaging in water play. He is smacking the water, splashing it around, using his hands to scoop water out of the pool.
What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
In this video we see solitary play for the first minute. The child is content playing alone in the pool until he engages in play with the other child, transitioning into parallel play. They can be seen splashing each other with the water and then start to do their own thing within the small space of the pool.
Video #2
What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
In this video I believe we can see functional/exploratory play, but more functional play since the child is playing peek a boo and is constantly opening and covering his face. He does this repetitively to gain a reaction from the infant/todder.
What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
In this video, we see associative and collaborative play. The young boy is interacting with the infant, playing peek a boo, and is showing that he can play well with others, even though the baby isn’t playing back.
Video #3
What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
In this video we see dramatic play. Although he isn’t pretending to be someone specifically, he is playing alone and using his imagination as if he were in a real kitchen, making food, seasoning it etc. We could possibly say he’s pretending to be a chef, but he’s reciprocating what it is he see’s others do, maybe at home.
What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
In this video we see solitary play. He is playing alone with no other children around him, and using his imagination to conduct play.
Video #4
What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
In this video we see sociodramatic play. There’re 3 young girls involved in play. One of the girls plays the kitty, the other as a dog, and the third as the little girl. They each reenact their role and play along with one another. You can see the girls maneuver around as if they were a cat and dog.
What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
In this video we see collaborative play. All three girls are able and willing to play with one another and use their imagination in unison.
Video #5
What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
In this video the children are engaging in Constructive play. They are drawing sidewalk murals with the chalk. One child can be heard saying they are drawing a shark.
What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
In this video the children are engaging in parallel play. They aren’t playing with one another but playing alongside each other as they were in their own sections drawing with the chalk.
Video #6
What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
The children in this video are engaging in games with rules. There are penalties involved in this game, as well as certain bases that are needed to bo covered without getting tagged. This game has rules and is competitive.
What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
The children are engaging in collaborative play. They are all playing this game together in teams.
***COOPERATIVE PLAY ***
What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
Video #1: In this video the types of play I see are object play and parallel play occasionally. And the stages of play I observed were unoccupied play and associative play. Both children are playing in their own pools but are using the same objects within the pools. They are barley interacting with each other at times but at one point they were in the same pool and playing with each other for a few seconds. They are both showing a lot of random movements, like splashing their hands and ams in the pool and tossing objects in the other pool.
Video #2: In this video the types of play I see are social play and locomotor play. The stages I observed was unoccupied play and onlooker play. The older toddler was doing more of the playing while the infant was just looking and laughing as a result of the toddlers actions. When the baby got excited he would move his hands and arms which is unoccupied play and the toddler was jumping around doing a lot of movements which is locomotor play.
Video #3: In this video object play and pretend play are being demonstrated as well as the solitary stage of play. The toddler is playing by hisself and is pretending to cook a pizza while using the different objects like the pizza, pan, salt shaker, play fridge, stove, and spatula. I also see language play being demonstrated because he is saying things like, “Pizza” “All done!” or making noises and laughing.
Video #4: In this video the girls are acting together and start off by assigning roles. This is a clear example of pretend play and social play. They create a storyline and even turn objects into different things. They stage of play they are demonstrating is collaborative play.
Video #5: In this video the children are drawing on the ground with chalk. The children are all using the chalk but they are using different colors and drawing their own things. They are talking to each other on occasion. This is an example of parallel play and object play. The stages of play can be between associative play and parallel play. Because while they are talking to each other they aren’t working on the same drawing, they are all doing their own piece.
Video #6: In this video they are demonstrating locomotor play, language play, and social play. They are all playing kickball together which involves big movements, like running and kicking. They are continuously talking about the rules or instructions of the game which is where the language play comes in. The stages of play that I see are collaborative play and onlooker play. There are a couple of children off to the side watching.
Video1
Water play in this video through it an objective play is appeared in this because children are using plastic objects and there is doll as well. the parallel play shown slightly when the boy tried to put all his toy and he moved to the girl’s plastic pool. They shared their toys as well as he attempted to splash water on their faces. Also, they tried to hug each other. Regarding the stages in the beginning of the video solitary play is occurred because both are playing separately each one in his pool. After that I noticed parallel play when the boy shared his toys with the girl, and they plied side to side with water.
Video 2
In this video older child is hiding his face and show it again, he tries to play and interact with the baby. In this case the older child trays to work his emotional and social skill and the baby is responding by laughing and moving his hands. We could say that social play had been engaged. Concerning the stage and based on their age the baby is in unoccupied play since he was moving his hands and head, while the older child is developing and demonstrating his abilities to engage in an associative and cooperative play since he tried to approach to the baby and trying to interact with him .
Video 3
Mostly in this video pretend play is demonstrated because the child is pretending cooking pizza in a pretend kitchen. Also, we could say objective plays since the child is using different objects kitchen supply. Also, language ply is occurred slightly when he tried to express something when he opened the microwave and the pizza did fit on it , also, when he said “see I get it” when he saw the pizza ready in the oven. The stages in this video are solitary because he is playing alone.
Video 4
In this video I see three girls engaging in a sociodramatic ply or we could say social ply because they are playing together and organizing them self about who will take the role. The stage is cooperative play because I see that they are playing together and they have a common goal this shows when the decided that one of them will pretend sleep in the pretend bad then the other will hide the girl who slept will wake up and search for them.
Video 5
Children in this video are engaging in parallel ply because they are playing side to side and sharing the box of the markers. We could say language play is occurred because kids tried to use a syntax and correct sentences and clear communication. The stage demonstrated are both parallel and associative because the children are interacting and communicating together but there is not collaboration.
Video 6
as I see that children are passing the ball and showing their physical abilities and one of them is running, I could say that it is a locomotor play. Since they are playing together and having interaction is social play. The stage is cooperative play they are playing together and they organized common goal for example the child who walked away and he they are not playing fair this infers that they are planned certain rule and they have to follow those rule to reach their goal together.
Yasmina, I agree with your number 1, it started of as parallel playing alone then shifted to social, splashing water on each other.

Kelly, I agree with your number 3, the cook. I believe he watches persons making pizza before because he was so on point, the spices, put in oven, he looked like a real chef.
Module 7 Assignment #2: Identifying Play
Video 1
Type of Play
It started off as Parallel play were, they were in separate pools next to each other, but they were not playing together. Then it moves to social play, they had playful interaction with each other splashing water on each other.
Stage of play – associate play, they play together but they do not have large amount of interaction because they played separated before they joined each other and play splash.
Video 2
Stage of play – Unoccupied – the children made a lot of movement of play. They move their arms, legs, hands, feet. He jumped, moved his hands to cover his eyes. Cooperative play they play with other and they were interested in the play because every time the bigger child pick-a-boo, the baby laughed.
Type of play – Social Play – Children have playful interaction with each other. Language play- children develop their language skills because they were talking to each other. Locomotor – The bigger child jumps high enough.
Video 3
Type of play – Pretend play-children play using play pizza, pouring spices/salt on in, then putting them in the oven to bake. He was doing what he sees being done somewhere. Language play- children develop their language skills the teacher kept talking to him. Object play- he plays using a play pizza, utensils, plates and the other things he had pouring on them

Video #1:
What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
The type of play that these video shows is sociodramatic play which details that that these is a form of dramatic play with more than one player socially interacting around a theme and a time trajectory over which the play continues and evolves. One reason that specifies this play category is that Joel and Anahi they are constantly using their hands (left and right) to make repeatedly splashes and well I notice that they are also using their feet to make splashes. The setting takes place in their play pool, there are two play pools a pink and a blue, both play pools have colorful designs and vibrant colors. The pool has water toys that allows children to play with, they are using the water toys to make splashes and throw water outside the pool. I also noticed that every time that Joel and Anahi make splashes they laugh, which shows that they are communicating with each other through laughing and showing enjoyment. Constructive play can also be applied to this observation because they are using different toys to see which one has more potential to make bigger splashes.
What stages of play do you observe in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
They type of play being demonstrated in this observation (Cute Babies playing and laughing) is exploratory which details that that this type of play is a sensorimotor approach in which a child learns the nature of his surroundings. One detail that support this type of play is that both children are socially interacting with one another, they are playing the game called or known as peek- a- boo, this type of game involves two people, Robert and Juan. Robert is the one who is covering both his eyes and part of his face with both hands (left and right), whereas Juan is the one who being entertained by Robert’s enthusiasm, every time that Robert spreads out both of his arms he says a word, in return Juan responds with smiles and laughs, this indicates that both infant toddlers are using language play and parallel play, one reason that supports this is that there is a constantly repetition of smiles and laughter done by both children, Robert use language humorously to say short words such as Banana, mama, papa that caught the attention of Juan repeatedly.

His mother asks Liam various questions that relates to the activity, such as what you are doing Liam, and what are you cooking/baking? Based on the observations that correlates with both definitions, Liam shows interest in cooking and baking by pretending to put seasonings and spices in the pizzas, based on the actions his able to know what materials are used for and the purpose of each object, for example Lim puts the pizza inside the oven, he moves the handles of the oven in various directions indicating on and off.
Video #4: What types of play do you see in the video? What evidence from the video supports your answer?
The types of plays demonstrated in the observation are constructive play and sociodramatic play according to the descriptions for both definitions, Ashley, Erika, and Rosa are socially interacting with one another, each of them take different roles of who they are going to be, in order to act them out. Ashley is the leader of the group who assigns the roles to Rosa and Erika. Rosa will be the little girl, Erika will be the dog, and Ashley decides to be the cat. Ashely gave instructions of how they are going to play, the play consisted of imagination and creativity, for instance Rosa lay down in the ground pretending that the ground floor was a bed, the classroom was represented to be the house, and the shelfs of the classroom represented to be the furniture of the house as well representing the hiding spots for the cat and the dog. Based on the descriptions for both definitions all the girls can recognize the positions and sounds that domestic animals do, they also understand how their behaviors affect others.

The types of play demonstrated in the observation are constructive play and sociodramatic play according to the descriptive details for both definitions, these young children typically fall between the ages 2 to 3,these young children are using different colors of chalk to create a drawings that seem to represent animals and objects, they are socially interacting by asking questions relating with what does their drawing represent, I see two children working together on a drawing, their drawings consist of shapes, lines, color, texture, and size. Jane and Carlos are using their left hand to test the vibrancy of color, Carlos use the index finger to scrub the orange color in order to create a shade of light orange. The activity consists of hands-on-activity and free draw with no rules, the preschool children were not given instructions by her teacher of what to do, instead it was their choice to what to draw using the chalk.
