In this module i learned about social-emotional skills and milestones and how to identify what stage a child is working on or mastering. It can be identified by how the children interacts with adults, peers ,how they express their emotions . Also that social-emotional development is a specific domain of child development. It’s the ability for a child to understand their feeling and the feeling of others. How a teacher/parent can support social emotional development by showing love. communication, encouraging to try new things, and talking about their feelings. Lastly on childhood trauma. This was an eye opener for me. The video provided much detailed information. We should should truly invest time with our children, not be so quick to say what we think is wrong with a child when we really don’t know what’s underneath the surface. Like she says in the video that a lot of people can to her and said/thought that their child had adhd. Sometimes children go through things that we aren’t aware of unless we have a deep communication with children.

In Module 6 I learned a lot about social-emotional development and how to support them and identify them. Learning about the different temperaments even though not in full depth was something I really enjoyed. The theories we learned and how to use them in different settings is something that will help me in the classroom greatly. Knowing the stages children develop to understand their emotions, feelings, find their identity, become part of a group or community. It is also crucial and beneficial to the children to feel self worth, how positive feed back boost their self-esteem. As always providing safe, trusting and loving environment can make a huge difference in how a child feels.Child Trauma does not necessarily men they are being physically abused, or that they suffered a horrific accident, this was such an “ah-ha” moment for me. Learning how so many aspects can be defined as trauma is bind blowing.I also found very interesting how the video describes how events that happen at home are being carried by the children and the effect it has on their development. Knowing that the higher their ACE score the more likely they are to have depression, commit suicide, have cancer, develop pulmonary and heart disease.
This module will help me when working with young children to have more patience, to have an open mind to the child’s home life and what they may experience. It also helped to understand how to slowly address different scenarios. How to handle them or begin to understand how to respond. This will also help me when working with small children while doing formal and informal observations, having a better understanding and more information to go on,

In this module I learned so much about social emotional development and how to support them and identify each stage. Social emotional development is a specific domain of child development. You get to understand how they feel, think and their interacting with others. How important communication is both the caregiver and the child. Speaking to the child how to handle situations. Each time I completed a module I shake my head, because this is a great experience for me. I will continue using what I have learned on interact with my niece and nephew. I can also these information on my patients at work.

This module has taught me a lot about social-emotional development and the different theories behind it. It has taught me the different stages, and how to dissect each stage to better understand each age group to better assist them in their development. It also taught me about the milestones and what should hopefully be reached at a certain age which gives me a sense of ideas to focus on depending on the age group I am working with. It is also important to make sure children are taught at a young age about self awareness, the emotions of others, as well as right from wrong. As caregivers we want to set the foundation for these children and make sure that we’re setting them up for success and giving them the steps to create and maintain healthy relationships with their peers. I have also learned about A.C.E and how important it is to really take the time to learn your students, to help better assess them. Child hood Trauma effects the development in children, so I want to be able to help children as much as possible.

Answer: In this module I learned about different types of social development. How certain children may act at a certain age. I also learn how to use their social behavior in situation and turn it into something positive, learning how to give good suggestions and recommendations for the parents and also to the child. I can use this information in the healthcare world and see if my patients are able to speak to me clearly, why they behavior is a certain why and also speak to the parents to let them know what they can ooo at home to help tase behavior issues.

In this module, I learned about social-emotional development and its components. I learned about three theorists and their theories of social-emotional development. These theories taught me what I should look for in a child’s social-emotional development and what I can do to improve it. This module gave me practice on identifying children’s social and emotional skills and processes and their social-emotional milestones through observation. I also practiced identifying social-emotional development through scenarios. Lastly, I learned the huge impact that childhood trauma can have on children and adults. I would take all that I learned in this module when working on my student’s social and emotional development. I will now be able to observe and help promote social and emotional development.

In this module, I learned how to identify social-emotional skills and how to implement them in my classroom. I also learned about how I can help families with their children when they are struggling on their social development and creating relationships. I also learned how childhood trauma can drastically affect a child and how important it is to inform children’s families to help our children long term. I never knew that childhood trauma is 7 out of 10 leading causes of death that gives us an even bigger responsibility and I am sure that I can help the families I serve in my community to make a difference.

I learned in this module social emotional development and how it is important and it can support children in the classroom. I have learned the Erikson theory of Psychosocial Development,Kohlberg’s theory of moral development and Bandura’s theory of social learning. And also, social skills and processes are very important for managing in the classroom. This is a huge knowledge and information for me. I get the skills and insights how to manage in the classrooms and how to encourage children initiative.
The material from this module better prepares me to help to understand the playground in the classroom children who need or support and how teachers can help children directly or indirectly in the classroom.

Children are also expected to understand other persons feelings while they are learning to control their feelings as they learn and play with each other. I am reminded how our emotions and thoughts influence our behavior, emphasizing with others is still a good thing, getting along with persons from different background is healthy and respecting self and others. Not only should we practice these principles, but we should also share them with our students.

The various theories remind me how to be good role model for my students as well as encouraging my students to be good role models among their peers. As an educator, I need to observe my student’s behavior and encourage them to practice positive behavior. The material from this model can better help me to understand the various stages of development that children go through and how they will express themselves as they go along. These theories will help me to have a clearer understanding of why students behave how they do and how I can support them along.

I learned from this module social and emotional development which determine the ability of the child to recognize his behavior and feeling toward him or her-self as a person and toward the exterior world through interaction and build relationship. I learned the theories that emphasized different factors that could help us to identify child’s behavior and teach us the way we could support him or her by the age. these theories are Erikson’s theory of Psychosocial Development which focuses on the positive and negative support that impacts the child., Kohlberg’s theory of moral development which focuses on morality and determine the wrong from right behavior and Bandura’s theory of social learning which focuses on that the aggressive behavior is imitated through observation. Moreover, I learned from this module how to apply those theories in my work with children and how to support them in different ages by identifying different social and emotional processes and what the appropriate activities and care we could offer for either child and parent which we practiced through scenario activities. I learned from this module as an educator we should always remember that children come from different environments and we should arm our self to deal with different situations and be more responsible and comprehensive.

This module covered the social emotional development scenarios. The development stages are broken down into different age gaps. Each age group has different social emotional milestones which are exhibited in different ways, such as sharing objects, singing, collaborating, playing fair, maintaining eye contact are all social emotional milestones. This module also cover Kohlberg’s theory of moral development which is used to measure the child’s understanding of good behavior and the contagious nature of learned bad behavior, Bandura’s theory of social learning, Erikson theory of Psychosocial Development which measures the child’s understanding of themselves as individuals as well as their understanding of themselves as a group. The TED Talk video about childhood trauma taught me about the large population of children who experienced childhood trauma who were diagnosed with alot of illness. This video helped me understand how it affects me with all of the different types of hormonal treatment I had to undertake due to being abused as a child. This information is useful to know as a child education because it helps the kids understand and learn by studying the different types of illness. Having empathy is important for a teacher because when you teach a kid, a teacher’s goal is to make sure the student is treated with care and getting the right treatment from peers and other teachers.

I learned about Social emotions on children and how to recognize what that child is working on and/or mastering. what we as teachers can do to assist them and help them express their emotions. We can show respect to the children, acceptance, encourage them to continue doing what they are doing and express their feelings and remain positive around them, allow them to become responsible and more.

Int has opened my mind to become more lenient. often children don’t know the proper way to express themselves module has allowed me to understand and different techniques I can use to reach out to the children and make them feel secured and loved.

In this module I learned about the different theories that focused on depth regarding with child development such as Kolhberg’s theory of moral development, which explains that Lawrence Kohlberg expanded on the earlier work of cognitive theorist Jean Piaget to explain the moral development of children, which he believed follows a series of stages. Kohlberg defined three levels of moral development: preconventional, conventional, and postconventional. Each level has two distinct stages. In addition, it is also the process through which children develop proper attitudes and behaviors toward other people in society, based on social and cultural norms, rules, and laws. As always, the PowerPoints are always useful in explaining each definition in depth along with the examples that you always provide to us, the PowerPoint on social emotional development, highlighted the different topics and processes/skills/milestones that children undergo as they grow from birth to 8 years old, your sense of humor also help me stay focus throughout the entire presentation of the PowerPoint, definitively all the PowerPoints that you created for us were very interactive and fun, in terms of clarifications, connecting to real life situation that happened in and out of the classroom, for example dealing with challenging situations it important to model positive behaviors. When we show children patience, gentleness, and care for others through your everyday interactions, we are helping them learn to treat others the same way. As early childhood educators we must keep in mind that children need plenty of positive feedback and calm reminders as they learn new skills. Toddlers are just beginning to follow directions and rules. In my future classrooms as an ECE teacher I will provide numerous opportunities to practice new skills, such as praising children when they are engaging in a positive behavior, especially when we know it’s a behavior they have been working on, like taking turns or appropriately transitioning to a new activity. When setting expectations with children, it’s more helpful to them when you focus on what they can and should do rather than using words like “don’t.” You might say, “Let’s use gentle hands,” instead of saying “Don’t hit.”. It’s important to keep in mind the way we use language when communicating or given feedback to young children because words have meaning this can affect a child’s social skills and self-esteem, children receiving negative feedback can internalize this stigmatization affecting their later life. As a future early childhood education teacher, I would find ways to deal different children who have different temperaments, it’s important to reflect one temperament in order to respond to each individualized child needs, interest and their learning styles.

In this module I learned about social emotional skills and milestones that children develop and the different ways that I as a caregiver and a teacher can support them as they go through them. There are lots of things that I had no ide affect childrens social and emotional well being years later in life and because of this I now know that I have to be aware of how the children are not only in my care but when they are home with their families as this affects the way they not only behave in my care as a teacher but the way they learn and develop as well.
