I learned about cognitive development, cognitive development is a field of study in neuroscience and psychology. In which it focuses on a child’s development. In the terms of processing information. I learned how to identify cognitive skills and processes, also cognitive milestones. Cognitive skills consists of ,Cognitive skill development in children involves the progressive building of learning skills, such as attention, memory and thinking. This allows the children to fully understand. Also how to support cognitive development, this can be done by helping children , Read books, practice ABC’s encouraging communication. This helps the child to work on their skills.

Answer: In this module I learned about identify cognitive skills and processes, also cognitive milestones. Also about cognitive development How certain children may act at a certain age. I also learned how to support cognitive development. I can use this information in the healthcare world and see if my patients are able to see their cognitive skills, why they behavior is a certain why and also speak to the parents to let them know what they can do at home to keep letting their cognitive develop

In this module I learned about cognitive development, cognitive skills and processes. Cognitive development shows how certain children may act a certain age. Also, cognitive skills consists of cognitive skill development in children involves in the progressive building of learning skills, like memory, attention and thinking. I can use this information at work and see how my patients are able to use cognitive skills, why they act the way they do.

In this module I learned about identifying cognitive skills and processes, also cognitive milestones. I also learn some some biology in this Module like the Piaget stage. This Module taught me alot from learning about the babies and how do we maintain them. I also learn how to support cognitive development, this can be done by helping children , Read books, practice ABC’s encouraging communication. This helps the child to work on their skills.

In this module, I learned about cognitive development, cognitive development skills, and processes and cognitive development milestones. I also learned about Jean Piaget’s stages of development and Lev Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory. In this module, I was able to put what I learned about cognitive development into practice by observation and explaining how I would use materials to support cognitive development. I will use what I learned in this module to support and document my future student’s cognitive development.

In this module, I learned cognitive development is the construction of thought processes, including remembering, problem solving, and decision-making, from childhood through adolescence to adulthood. The children’s cognitive skills and process are memory, imagination, information processing, intelligence, looking, listening and grasping skills. I learned the skills are And also, I learned about Piaget’s and Vygotsky’s theorists. It is very helpful for preparing to work with young children.

In the module I learned about cognitive development skills and cognitive skills and there process. I found that theorist that works with early childhood education plays an important role. I was able to observe different kids of plays with different age children as well

In this module I learned how there are two very important theories that reflect on Cognitive Development, which tie to milestones, processes & skills. The theories demonstrate how we can think of this development in two different forms. In addition i learned how each theory has stages and what each one means for different age group, I learned how to support and identify each stage. I will use the skills Iearned in the classroom by first observing the kids and figuring out what stage they are in then assist them ans support them to achieve important milestone, and skills

This module helped me to understand cognitive development and how I as a teacher can help support my students in the classroom. It is important to understand the thought processes of children and what stages and the milestones they should have or need to develop in order to prosper and excel in the classroom. I learned about the four stages of cognitive development as well as the way experiences can enhance children’s development into adulthood.

In this module I learned about cognitive development in children and the two theories that are used to explain cognitive development. This module helped me recover information that I learned in psychology class, more specifically about Piaget and Vygotsky’s theories. I learned about the skills and processes of cognitive development and the cognitive milestones that children should be reaching at different ages. The last assignment where we actually had to apply what we learned and explain how we would use it in the classroom definitely better prepared me to work with young children. Understanding what I should be looking for and how I can support the cognitive development in my students is what I got from this module.

This module re-introduced Both Piaget and Vygotsky’s theories on Cognitive Development, allowing me to use the fundamentals that I’ve learned in previous modules and apply them to classroom observation. I gained the confidence in being able to explain how each theory is being demonstrated as well as being able to talk about the stages. I have gained enough knowledge to compare and contrast the two. I also gained the confidence in being able to utilize certain toys/objects to help children with their cognitive development and talk about the skills and processes children develop. I also learned more about milestones for each age group and how to determine what milestones were reached.

We learned in previous modules about child development, such as language, social interaction, sensorimotor, this time ECE110 transported us to the brain of the child. It is cognitive development which is the development of different mental skills and abilities such as intelligence, concentration, perception, imagination, reasoning, and creativity. I learned Piagetian theory that teaches us to see a child as an independent person that characterize with mental process abilities that happens trough different stages of development, and then the child will organize his or her ideas by interacting with other and by exploring the world. I learned about Lev-Vygostsky who believes that social interaction, language, and culture play a great role in fostering the cognitive development. I practiced through the video observation how I could support children to develop their cognition skill and what activities I could chose depends on their age. I learned how to be organized in order to help children to build a strong basics that will help the them to be successful not only in their school but also in their entire life.

What did you learn in this module?
I learn many new things about children and how their mines develop.Assignment #1 educated me what cognitive development truly means, how to understand it,and the differnt stages and theory based on it. Assignment #2 taught me to identify cognitive development and how a child demonstrates it.Lastly,Assignment #3 taught me how to use materials to support cognitive development.
How will the material from this module better prepare you to work with young children?
This material from this module taught me how to better prepare to work with young children by showing me everything i need to know about Cognitive development which I can use in my classroom to make sure all my students devlop at the speeds they are suppose too and how to get them to reach their milstones and how to do that with materials, play, and knowledge.

In this module I learned about cognitive development, which is how the brain learns and problem solves. I learned about two important theories from two different psychologist, Piaget and Vygotsky. Piaget was someone who believed that children learn differently over time, and Vygotsky believed that children learn solely from culture and environment. In this module I also learned how to identify cognitive skills and cognitive milestones by observing various videos of children in different age groups. I also learned how as a teacher I can help with cognitive development by encouraging play to learn, constantly communicate with child and encourage independent play. Lastly I learned about how some toys and tools can help develop the child’s cognitive skills and milestone.

    Module 8 Assignment #4: Self-Reflection

I am used to hearing persons say to children, “you must be guided by an adult” and understood clearly what it meant. But now, I am realizing that this is connected to research, because Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development says that – children can do some things by themselves but will not be able to do other tasks without the help of an adult. I see certain objects that children play with and thought that they were just playing things and did not know that puzzles and blocks are instrumental in helping to develop children’s cognitive ability. Play also helps children build strong cognitive skills. I think my biggest “ah-ha” moment came with “Homemade Slime”. I see slime as a not so pleasant thing, but I did not know that it helps to develop social skills, calms the brain and develop fine and gross motor skills.
The material from this module will better prepare me to work with young people because I am reminded that children’s cognitive development is not only done through academics but play and so many other means. So, I will be less hard on students when they want to have a little play time and stop telling them they play too much. I will also research some upper level activities that I can incorporate in my lessons, that will help with cognitive development.

In this module I learned that cognitive development is about everything that child does through learning that connects to guidance and supervision. The hands-on activities were based on numerous components that fits with cognitive development, this include decision making/problem solving, reasoning, perception, knowledge memory and so on. Creativity was showed through creations for instance the toddlers use their hands along with the objects and materials to build and create objects even if the objects don’t have a meaning, which connects to the foundations of play and the arts. I also learned that children do not have to necessarily meet or accomplish an specific ability or milestones in terms of self skills development and academic skills that is based on the cognitive development milestones because all children are different and unique, we all have differences. The power points were very clear in terms of definitions and examples connecting in the classroom’s , basically the information was simplify in order to better grasp the content of cognitive development along with Piaget’s theory of Cognitive Development which outline the stages that children undergo, that details about young children construct knowledge in the course of thinking about physical actions and that children are continually reorganizing their ideas about the world as they interact with people and objects within their environment. Something that caught my attention was that after reading the informational theory of Piaget’s theory was that children actually reason quite differently from adults which I agree with because children gather information about their world through the use of the sensory mechanism in order to make sense of their world. The activity that I would like to carry on to my classroom that is based on what we did today for module #8 would be painting because this activity allows children to communicate their emotions or feelings. Through the use of different colors, they can express themselves without the use of words. The benefits are amazing because painting aids child’s develop mobility skills which enhances their hand muscles are being used.

This Module introduces me to Cognitive Development, Cognitive Development of milestones, identifying and supporting cognitive development and skills and processes of how to monitor individual infant/ toddler to young school age children. I learned about Piaget’s stage of development and Vygotsky’s social/cultural development theories, which are essentials and very helpful to the teaching framework.

In this module I learned about cognitive skills and processes. I learned how important it is for a young child to build their cognitive skills to support them later on in life. Cognitive skills do happen internally and we don’t see them however we do see when children use the these skills as they explore the world around them. Curiosity and exploration is what leads children to practice and use these cognitive skills. Children learn through exploration and repeat these experiences they eventually understand why things happen when they do.
