In this module I learned about growth and development also the affects of development. Differences between milestone and sequences of development. I also learned how prenatal is super important due to the child being affected in the long run if a mother is suffering from any type of depression. Also how gaining trust from a baby/toddler is very important, they need to able to trust you and have comfortably in order to grow and educate themselves for years down the line. I also learned how to make observations on young children and how they interact on one another The things that I did observe in this module is you must be trustworthy, understanding, super visual, and open minded, also cautious. I can use this information in the healthcare world and let my patients and their families understand that im here to only help and take care on their children as if they were my own and that they also can trust me because trust is super important

This module was so eye opening for me. I felt I had a lot of “ah-ha” moments during all the reading materials as well as watching the video. The video that really made a big impact was the video about what we learn when we are in the womb. How development starts when the fetus is developing and how important and beneficial our surroundings are while pregnant. The impact food, smells, environment and culture helps shape who we are since the very beginning.
Realizing how trust and attachment can affect a child, parent, teacher or caregiver was mind blowing. How we communicate with the children and their parents has the same affect as speaking to a child about their achievements. The way trust is established in a young age helps us later in life to help figure our way making connections with our our older memories. I learned how important it is to pay close attention to observations and focusing on one child at a time if possible, and being as detailed as possible to better explain in a future conversations about it. I will try to see which one of the few forms of observations we were thought works best for me in my work environment, i do believe having a chart and making tallies or checks in boxes can be very helpful.
I will apply how a how to have a safe, inviting, stimulative setting for my kids come this fall. Making sure there are toys and tools that will help them grow. Making sure the kids feel they can trust me, and having good communication with parents, as it is important.

In this module i learned about growth development , how a child develops. the videos were extremely helpful and full of information. especially the video on the womb it was very interesting . How development starts when the fetus is developing and how important and crucial our surroundings are while a mother pregnant. i also learned how to truly get in depth in my observations. For example in module 4 where we had to pick a child and observe and then write what we saw , what the child was doing and be as descriptive as possible. Also that a toddler will communicate more and open up when that the environment that their in is safe and a protective space.

I truly enjoyed this module because I have learned a lot from the readings and videos. I have learned more about child development in a more detailed perspective and key factors that affect a child’s development. Those key factors are culture, financial resources and even the education level of a mother. I have also learned about how stress alone can impact a fetus long term. I always knew that an unhealthy amount of stress can do damage to the fetus, but I never knew it could cause hypertension, or autism like characteristics in babies. This makes me think a lot about those pregnant during this pandemic and 2020 alone, hoping that the world can take a pause and unborn children have a chance at being born healthy. Another important topic we touched base on was healthy attachments. Trust is earned and not given, and babies are smart enough to know that. It is very important as future early child hood educators that we take the time to really focus on building relationships with these babies, and learning true patience and understanding these babies and their developments. It is our job to create safe, happy and loving environments for them and we should have pride in that.

In this module, I learned about the importance of growth and development and how to support families and children to support them. I also learned about how important it is to have effective relationships with children to gain the trust of them and the impact it will have later on in their lives. Though we can only give advice to mothers to help prevent preterm labor or longterm illnesses by suggesting staying stress-free we can support children to have proper environments and learning spaces that can influence them in other ways from a social-emotional standpoint and their developmental needs can be enhanced in a classroom setting. I also learned the importance of creating proper observations to create this learning space as a teacher and to be a better-unbiased educator.

    1. What did you learn in this module?
-From assignment 1 I learn the difference between growth and development and all the different developmental domains and stages and the causes and effects that help children develop and that ties into being atypical and typical and brain development and that ties into assignment 2 I learn that babies start learning from the fetus and whats going on in the world can affect your baby after birth or later on in life. Assignment 3 how important caregivers and those around your babies are because building attachment and trust play a big part and tie into the well being of a kid and how they learn. Lastly, assignment 4 showed me how observing a child is important and I got to see how different children react to ro things around them and how they interact.

    2. How will the material from this module better prepare you to work with young children?
This material will help me prepare to work with young children because I learn more about the stages of development and how learning starts in the fetus which is something I can use in life when I become a parent myself but also in my classrooms. I will also know how a classroom should be set up for the child and the importance of having a fun and safe classroom is. Also, what to look for in co-workers and how to react to children’s how to create trust and have an attachment towards the child so they can create one with me.

I indeed enjoyed watching videos and reading material which aided me to gain information that will help me in my career as an early childhood education teacher. I learned from this module the important details about development of the child and how each stage of development has its specificity. The prenatal stage is the vulnerable one. So, anything happens for the mother during pregnancy whether it is positive or negative it will affect the fetus and thus it will determine the future individual’s personality. Furthermore, I learned that infancy stage bases on trust and build a good relationship with children. As a caregiver we should have the ability to build trust and have a good respond for the child’s needs in order to provide a better care. The thing that attracted me when I see in the video that the child himself will choose his caregiver because even though they are unable yet to express all their needs. They could determine whether you have appropriate qualities to take care of them or not. Moreover, this module affords the opportunity to exercise observation and thus develop skill that will help me in the future to have a better understanding for children and be an objective educator.

In this module I learned a lot about children that I had no knowledge of before. In assignment one I learned about how children grow and develop. I learned that children can fall into the categories of typical or atypical depending on their development. I also learned about developmental milestones and developmental sequence and the difference between the two. In assignment two I learned how important the prenatal period is for the mother and fetus. I also learned that basically everything the mother does affects the child during pregnancy and after birth. In assignment three I learned about attachment and how important it is in order for the child’s physical, social-emotional and intellectual development. Lastly I learned that I can try to be more observant. I noticed there was somethings that they observed that I did not.
This material will better prepare me to work with young children because I now know how I could possibly form attachments with my students. I also learned what I should look for when I am looking to join a school program. Lastly, I learned that I can try to be more observant when doing the classroom observations. Now I know to look more in depth and look for more details when I am observing.

In this module I learned about the development of children. I learned what growth and development is, what factors affect a child’s development, the different stages of child development, how to care for infants and toddlers, and why the prenatal period is so essential to a child’s development. Learning about the prenatal period and why it is so important to focus on really surprised me and probably interested me the most. I knew that time was very important for the baby’s growth but I there were some reasons I didn’t know about. Also doing another observation was helpful for me to become a great observer. There are a lot of things I found myself paying attention to this time around versus the first time I did an observation.

In this module I learned about Infant development. I learned about the things that I should do in the classroom to better develop a relationship with the baby’s and also what factors affect the infants development before and after birth. One skill I learned is that being more observant of the children in my care could make me a better teacher. I know I need more work on my observation skills but I know that they are necessary to be able to do my job and use those observations to better understand the developmental stages the children and infants in my care are in and determine where they will be moving developmentally to next. .

    Self-Assessment

In module 2 assignments 1 through 5, I learned about the importance of not just only reading the material but it’s more about grasping the content, trying to find ways to use/integrate descriptive vocabulary choice in children observations, avoiding biased assumptions as we don’t know that closely as what the child my feel regarding with his/her health or what may be he/she be thinking, and thinking about how will this material that we are learning could be applied in our future careers as educators. In this module I learned that learning and understanding a child’s/infant’s growth and development is the key of forming healthy parent to child and teacher to child relationships, through bonding, trust, connection, communication, and understanding, as well being attentive to a child’s needs. As future educators we are expected to provide the best support to families and their children. Such as referring families to school- related or health-related services if their child struggles. Moving on, I learned about the different stages that children undergo in each stage of growth/development, for instance children Developmental miles predicts what an average child is capable of doing at a certain age that includes social, physical, mental, speech/communication, and physical skills. It’s is important to keep in mind that children work differently from one another, they have different set of goals and they learned in a differently pace when they are learning a classroom material, Children learned new skills as they grow and as well as they move from grade level.

    Module 2 Assignment #5: Self-Assessment

This module reminds us that they were once babies and as the days, weeks, months and years went by, they went from infants, toddlers, preschool, school age and over to adolescents. How can we forget that our environment plays an integral role in children’s development. Knowing that 80% of the child’s brain is developed at age three (3), it is very important for teachers and family to be mindful of the quality support that they rightly need as well as how we blend them in with the wider environment. We have to be good caregivers and positive role models. Ah, ah – I never saw “trust” as such a big thing in child development because I just felt it is our responsibility to take care of them. However, this plays an integral role because in a child’s development and his further learning ability. I am aware that a pregnant mother’s actions can have positive or negative effects. However, I did not know that the fetus could prepare himself while in the womb for the kind of world he will grow up in. Amazing!
The final exercise reminded me that my observation skills are very important knowing it can produce factual information and positive resolve. Another skill that I need to work on is my retention skills, this is important to relate content to the videos and that needs some more work. However, improving that skill is worth it, not only for now, but for the long-term. The material from this course those relating to younger children sets the progression path to adolescence. Id does not matter the age group, they are dependent on teachers to help with their survival and the younger pathway sets the stage for the older journey. Now that we are in such a divided society where there are so much hate, anger and other emotions being manifested, cultivating good emotional and social values, showing our younger children that they are loved and appreciated, will help them to grow up being better human beings and being able to differentiate between wrong and right. As well as having confidence in themselves. These affections can also be shared with our teenagers for them too to better understand themselves in this world that they are now existing in. I cannot wait to talk to my students about the importance of sharing love and peace. I will also remember that children’s intellectual ability and their overall development are different and should not expect miracles from everyone. For example, after giving them extra, extra time to finish a task, and when all those times are finished, I will go to them and ask them if they are still working. I will not do this again; development is different with each child. Smile Denise!

In this module i learned the different types of growths and there developments. Which I found really interested. what stood out to me was learning that good prental is important because if can affect children later down in there lives, I could make sure this information is useful because I work with children and I can observe them to see how the grow and also see what I can do to help them

In this module we learned principles of growth and development. Theoretical materials that give us a lot of information about growth and development. We also covered topics such as “stress and pregnancy”, “ stress and birth outcomes”. It was a surprise for me to realize that even the stress of a year before pregnancy can affect a baby. We also talked about pregnant women in the covid-19 period, which made me think about how I would react if I was pregnant during this period or someone around me? This topic was a-ha for me, because I have never thought about this before. I undoubtedly knew that gaining trust of the children is very important for the relationship with them and in this assignment everything seemed to be familiar.
