Summary
The messages Beyonce expresses through the song and video is her achievement, how she supported her career and fulfilled her dreams by working hard, she tells us about her culture and where she is from and how she says "slay" without getting into the mess of the Illuminati. In the video it demonstrates the power of women, you have women dancing to the music and the way she sings the lyrics of the song is powerful. Beyonce wanted to demonstrate the historical impact of slavery on black love and when they talked it out matsoukas came with the idea of making a video of females and black empowerment. The 1s example of emotive language in the song is dysphemisms because in the first sentence of the song that says "y'all haters corny with that illuminati mess" she is using this turn that is very negative and critical to criticize the people who are criticizing her. she is using a negative feeling towards the people who are making her feel a type of way. The 2nt example is hyperbole in the sentence "I'm so reckless when I rock my givenchy dress (stylin')". She used exaggeration to distort the facts that she looked chic when she wore the givenchy dress. I'm not really sure because I'm not such a fan of Beyonce but I think that at the time the song came out it was when there were rumors that her partner was cheating on her with other women and when she wrote that song about the power of women and everything that she has achieved maybe she could have done a little controversial.

Hey Ana,
I’m not a fan of Beyoncé either but I do remember the rumors of her husband cheating on her, presumably a white woman. There might’ve been a reference of that on one of the other songs on the Lemonade album. Something along the lines with “He better call Becky with the good hair”. I don’t think the rumors were true.
