Elijah Ayala – Conversation 1: Critical Thinking

Critical Thinking is the ability the go about situations by asking yourself questions and deeply explaining the answers by discovering facts or evidence with analyses. The way the speakers went about explaining the definition of critical thinking was that they saw it as an art. Arts are usually tough to tackle but easy to master with the correct practice. They also see it as a way of how to think instead of what to think. The speaker in the TedTalk mentioned that instead of using memorization when asking students questions, they use the ability to think about what the answers may be instead of what exactly they are. Both speakers think critical thinking is important because the ability of how to think and ask yourself questions will help you academically, in future careers, in communcation, and in the understanding of common sense. I agree with this because knowing how to critically think doesn’t just help you understand how to think; it helps you understand other people’s thinking processes in order to be a better communicator.
