Conclusion: (paraphrase your conclusion/thesis, and explain why this topic matters)
Final product idea: This subject is important because it tackles the basic issue of how to strike a balance between the risks linked to having easy access to deadly weapons and the necessity for personal protection. By investigating methods for reducing the number of firearms in circulation, we address a critical problem affecting the well-being of the public worldwide.
Christen: good start. Your conclusion should be stated as a sentence and while it includes an argument it is too general at this point–guns in the whole world? Books have been written on this. Focus on one place–which areas does your research address? The same goes for your premises–make them more specific.
My argument project outline:
CRT 100 Argument Project Outline
Ashley–a bit hard to see everything here but your conclusion seems to be that men’s mental health should not be overshadowed by females. Is this correct? If so, I see an argument here but the challenge is still how to make it more specific. Avoid using big, general and subjective words and aim for more descriptive verbs and adjectives.
Audience: Adults and Teenagers.
Topic: Social media platforms.
Working conclusion : By educating individuals about privacy settings, content moderation, and the potential impact of their online actions, we can empower them to make informed choices and foster a healthier online community.
Intro(hook ,intro to topic,conclusion):-In a world where social media is everywhere, it’s important to understand how it works and how to stay safe. By learning about privacy settings, recognizing fake news, and being mindful of our online behavior, we can become more aware and responsible social media users.
Premise 1:
The argument revolves around whether social media platforms should be held responsible for what users post. Some say current laws protect free speech and innovation, while others argue they allow harmful content to thrive unchecked.
Supporting evidence:
The big debate about Section 230 is whether social media should be responsible for what people post. To really understand this, we need to look at the evidence that supports both sides of the argument.
Evidence: https://cqpress-sagepub-com.bmcc.ezproxy.cuny.edu/cqresearcher/report/social-media-platforms-cqresrre20201002
Premise 2:
The debate about facial recognition technology divides people. Some are concerned it could invade privacy and lead to surveillance. Others see its benefits, like helping tag photos, and believe users have control. It’s important to consider both views to understand how it affects our online world.
Supporting evidence: . By looking at real-life examples, we can understand how facial recognition affects us online.
Evidence: https://cqpress-sagepub-com.bmcc.ezproxy.cuny.edu/cqresearcher/report/social-media-explosion-cqresrre20130125
Premise 3/opposing viewspoint:
People are arguing about whether the government should control what’s said on social media. Some think the government should stop false information, while others say it’s important to let people speak freely. This article talks about new rules to make sure the government’s actions with Big Tech companies are clear, showing how it’s important to protect both speech and the law.
Supporting evidence:
In this article the government should influence what’s allowed on social media. Some say it could limit free speech, while others think it’s needed to stop false information. Let’s look at real-life examples and new laws to understand how this affects our ability to speak freely online.

What will your final product be?: How Social Media Affect The Epidemic Of Loneliness.
Beautifull: good start. Similarly to my other comments, how can you make your conclusion more specific? You tackle such broad terms here, so what can you actually prove in your argument project, with 3 sources? Also, premise 2–more of a fact then a claim?
Audience: Stakeholders, administrators, and big money donors.
Topic: Health care workers
Working conclusion: The commitment of health care workers not only provided essential care to those in need but also highlighted the importance of supporting and investing in the healthcare system for future crises.
Intro: Health care worked tirelessly on in the front line, facing huge risks to care for patients while keeping everyone safe during Covid-19 and even now.
Premise 1: Health care shortage due to Covid 19
Supporting Evidence: By late November, there were 27 U.S. health care worker strikes throughout 2023. Thousands of nurses and other medical professionals staged walkouts across the nation over staffing shortages, low wages amid inflation, safety concerns, working conditions and other concerns at places such as St. Louis University Hospital, a quarter of Los Angeles County hospitals and more than 75,000 Kaiser Permanente workers in California — the largest health care strike in U.S. history.

Evidence: “NCSBN Research Projects Significant Nursing Workforce Shortages and Crisis.” NCSBN, http://www.ncsbn.org/news/ncsbn-research-projects-significant-nursing-workforce shortages-and-crisis.
Premise 3/ Opposing Viewpoint: Hospitals have been receiving more funds.
Supporting Evidence: Pandemic relief funds helped some facilities avert financial distress, including government-owned hospitals, teaching hospitals, Medicare, and Medicaid disproportionate share hospitals and those serving larger proportions of Black populations. However, the COVID relief funds also led 12% of hospitals to “dramatically improve their financial performance” between 2020 and 2021.
Evidence: Vogel, Susanna. “Covid Relief Funds Helped Some Hospitals Soar to ‘all-Time High’ Operating Margins.” Healthcare Dive, 19 July 2023, http://www.healthcaredive.com/news/covid-relief-funds-helped-some-hospitals-improve-operating-margins/688371/.
Conclusion: (paraphrase your conclusion/thesis, and explain why this topic matters)
The COVID-19 pandemic laid bare the stark realities of healthcare shortages and the mental health of healthcare workers, even as they fought on the frontlines. Despite these challenges, the crisis catalyzed an infusion of funds into hospitals, spotlighting the need for a robust healthcare infrastructure and have more mental support for healthcare professionals. This financial response, while necessary, also serves as a reminder of the value of healthcare workers and the imperative to address systemic issues for a healthier future.
Audience: teens and adults
Topic: drug addiction
Working conclusion: By recognizing the factors that contribute to addiction we can take action to reduce drug addiction by providing support and treatment for those affected by doing so we can make a positive difference in the lives of individuals affected by drug addiction.
intro( hook, intro to topic, conclusion): drug addiction is a serious problem that affects millions of people around the world, according to the 2022 United States National Survey on Drug Use and Health 46.8 million Americans from ages 12 and older have battled a substance use disorder in the past year. Not only does it affect the health and well-being of those who are addicted, but it also affects families.

https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/1455072518766129#bibr1-1455072518766129
Premise 3: However some people believe that drug addiction is simply a choice made by individuals who are addicted to do this to themselves. Let’s take into consideration the factors that can contribute to a person’s drug addiction.
Supporting evidence: “A person’s environment includes many different influences, from family and friends to economic status and general quality of life. Factors such as peer pressure, physical and sexual abuse, early exposure to drugs, stress, and parental guidance can greatly affect a person’s likelihood of drug use and addiction.” https://nida.nih.gov/publications/drugfacts/understanding-drug-use-Addiction
Conclusion: Drug addiction is a serious problem that affects millions of people around the world. It’s important to understand that addiction can happen to anyone and that it’s not simply a choice made by the individual. By recognizing the factors that contribute to addiction we can take action to reduce drug addiction by providing support and treatment for those affected by doing so we can make a positive difference in the lives of individuals affected by drug addiction.
Audience: People who are theatergoers, watch movies on streaming services, and either work for or want to work for the film industry.
Topic: Film Industry (Media)
Working Conclusion: Can Movie Theaters Still Draw an Audience?
Intro: Ever since the WGA and SAG strikes, the film industry has not been the same. The industry has seen some of its worst issues ever since the pandemic in 2020 – 2021 and the strikes in 2023. Lack of promotion, gaining revenue and transferring from theaters to streaming services has left film workers at a major obstacle. Now that the strikes are over, can movies still gain revenue from movie theaters, or does every theatergoer have to start watching movies through streaming services?
Premise #1: Movie theaters are having difficulty trying to gain an audience due to their audience paying for streaming services.
Supporting Evidence:
“After the strike, there will be far fewer shows, with the industry due for a retrenchment due to the lack of profitability for most streaming platforms.”
“Online streaming has become the leading delivery method for video entertainment, watched by more Americans than broadcast or cable television. In July, broadcast and cable saw their combined share of the viewing audience drop below 50 percent for the first time, according to Nielsen data.”
Premise #2: Ticket sales declined over the past 20 years due to higher ticket prices and better-quality movies coming on streaming services. Theaters are only appealing to children due to blockbuster movies based on comic books or fairy tales.
Supporting Evidence:
“But even with last year’s uptick, theater attendance has declined slowly from its recent peak of nearly 1.6 billion in 2002. Frequent moviegoers — those who attend at least once a month — represented only 12 percent of the population in 2017, according to the MPAA report.”
“Several factors affect attendance, including higher ticket prices and the availability of high-quality alternatives on television and online.”
Premise #3: Even though discovery is lacking in streaming services, we can see more movies at a time and be able to see movies from different countries.
Supporting Evidence:
“First, the major platforms collectively host far more new movies per year than theaters could exhibit. Second, because digital distribution allows a movie to service geographically dispersed audiences, many more products are viable than when a movie needed to have sufficiently broad appeal to draw a crowd to a local theater.”
Conclusion: So, do movie theaters still have a chance to grab and audience’s attention. Absolutely, but only when it comes to children or teenagers who want to watch Disney movies, horror movies and movies based off comic books. Currently, all the adults who used to watch movies in theaters, are now watching through streaming services, which is a good thing entertainment wise for them, but it is bad news for film workers who want to make a living off this.
