Topic: Gentrification in East Flatbush

Research Question: How does gentrification affect relationships dynamics in the changing community? And how does it further exacerbate the socioeconomic status of the original inhabitants of the community?

Summary:

The reason why I chose this topic is because of the last couple of years. In the last couple of years private construction companies have buying up very small empty plots of land and begin building buildings, which the rent is a ridiculous amount. Gentrification is not just about the physical changes in a community. It’s about the interpersonal changes as well. For example, ever since a new building was constructed right across the street from my home during the pandemic, my parents would complain that parking will be hard to find.
