Summary
The population of Harlem as of 2016 is 116,345 and according to “niche.com”, a website which facilitates the exploration of neighborhoods and schools for people, the population is currently in 2023 at 189,456. The neighborhood is summed up of many diverse races and cultures. According to nyc.gov twenty nine percent of the people who live in central harlem live below the federal poverty level. Which as we know poverty in specific spots lead to an increase in criminal activity in that location. It also states how where people live determines the type of lifestyle they are gonna have. According to a document from nyc.gov from the twenty -eight prescient which is in charge of the neighborhood of Harlem. There has been a total of nineteen crime complaints per month in the path year complaints, ranging from burglaries to rapes. NYC.gov also states that in the past years Harlem has calmed down and has only contributed to two to one crime every fourteen days.
