After school programs can help with preventing delinquency and criminality among adolescents because it will keep them off the streets. It will also keep them supervised and occupied. Some parents have to work and don’t have anyone to look after their children who might end up getting in a crime, but after school programs would ensure their child’s safety. In addition, it is very beneficial to the child because they can be either playing a sport on a team or getting tutoring for a class. Direct control seems like the best option to preventing delinquency and criminality among adolescents. Detention or suspension is a good way to punish the adolescents, depending on the situation. I feel like after school programs will reduce the crime rate by a lot. There should be different types of after school programs and various options to choose from that the kids will like and be attracted to.
Hi Amy, I definitely agree that after school programs are great for kids for them to stay out of trouble. It can also definitely reduce crime rates because many teens are in gangs.
Hi Amy, after school programs for sure helps to prevent delinquency and criminality, you are absolutely correct, when you keep them off the streets they have less time to think about getting involve in bad behavior by having them supervised and occupied. Sports is a great way to keep adolescents busy and happy.
Hey Amy,
I agree with your statement with helping kids off the streets. They actually have something positive to do with their life.
Hello Amy, I agree with you when you said that parents have to work and do not have anyone to look after them. Having someone to take care of their children’s, parents can keep working without thinking that their kid could be doing something bad.
After school programs can help with preventing delinquency and criminality among adolescents because they will have something productive to do instead of hanging around and doing things there not supposed to be doing. It can also help kids emotionally and help them academically by helping with homework and other ways they are struggling. Also after school programs can help many working parents who don’t have time to pick up their children right away. Rewards can help encourage kids to not behave in certain ways, also direct control can also motivate kids to behave and do good. However after schools programs are really great for the community and helping kids stay out the way of bad behavior.
Hi Boubacar, I agree with you, after school programs helps children a lot emotionally and of course on their academics success. Also, you are right, rewards encourage kids to have a positive behavior.
Hi Boubacar. I agree that after school programs will be a distraction for kids and reduce the rate of criminality among adolescents because they will be in a safe, supervised space. After school programs can help with a lot more than just criminality among adolescents, which is good for them academically.
Hello Boubacar, I highly agree with your opinion. After school programs keep kids away from delinquency and from things that they are not supposed to be doing.
I agree these programs are another way of spending your free time to actually being productive by doing different activities and at the same time have more positive outcomes.
After school programs are a great way to prevent and reduce crime among adolescents, by keeping them engaged in after school activities adolescents tend to keep their minds out of trouble. This is a great way to keep them away from gangs which would lead them to get involve in crime. Getting them involve in sports, arts, and academics helps a lot when it comes to keeping them from drugs use or any other criminal activity. Instead of punish them, After-school programs seem to reward them by helping them achieve their academic goals with tutoring, and it’s very well known that people reacts better to rewards instead of punishments. After school programs helps them to develop social bonds or attachment to their teachers and classmates encouraging them to stay away from trouble. Building attachment and commitment to their teachers and peers helps to creates a positive attitude for adolescents at school and also at home with their family by keeping them accountable for their behavior.
Hi Julio, I agree with you that after school programs are a great way to keep kids from gang related crimes.
After school programs are the best thing to look after kids and teach them and make them occupied in a positive way for their life, kids are easily influenced if they are hanging around in the streets they can end up in crimes and so much more. So for these programs they get to be monitored if anything and gets to learn.
Hi Abeer,
I agree with your statement with teaching kids the positive ways for their life and shows them school is fun and not a waste of time. Getting extra help is better then hanging out in the streets.
Hi Abeer, I agree with you, it is very easy for a teenager to take the wrong path, but these programs will help them keep their minds occupied.
Hi Abeer, I agree with you, with after school programs adolescents can be occupied in a positive way like getting help with school work or practice a new sport instead of being in the streets looking for trouble.
It depends what time the afterschool programs end. It’s still dangerous to get home late. Some people just want to leave and go home quicker and some might stay. The people that actually stays wants a better future or making smart moves because they actually care about their education, willing to have extra help from teachers or professors. It keeps them off the streets and hanging out with a group of people and might start a problem. Afterschool programs help us with many reasons.
Hi Jesus, for people that don’t stay for after school programs doesn’t mean that they don’t want a “better future” as you said, sometimes those students have responsibilities at home and they can’t stay, some others have to go to work to help with their families expenses, some students have to take care of their younger siblings, and so on, I don’t think is that simple to say that only the ones that stay for after school programs want to do better.
Hi Jesus. That is a good point that you mentioned. After school programs don’t usually last past 6pm, which is kind of concerning. Who knows what can happen after after school programs. This is something that should be tested/experimented and altered if needed.
Hello Jesus, I agree with Julio, not every adolescent who chooses to go home is because they don’t want something better for their future, but because unfortunately, they have many responsibilities at home at an early age.
In this country after school programs are essential for the development of adolescents since parents are mostly working long hours and it is easier for a teenager to take the wrong path for all the time they have without supervision. After-school programs help teens keep their minds busy with activities, this also helps parents have more control over what they are doing after school. These programs offer a lot of advantages to adolescents in helping them choose a better path for their lives and help them stay out of delinquency and crimes since here it is very easy for a naive person to take the wrong path due to lack of mentorship.
I agree, you made a great point on after school programs being an advantage in helping young individuals choose a better path this would get them in the right state of mind. After school Program are safe environment where individuals can actually work in developing appropriate and explicit learning goals and employing interest in based hands on activities.
I think that you make a good point regarding to the importance on mentorship in reducing criminology. This increases their support system as well and likely self-confidence too.
Hi Endrika, I agree with you, after school programs can help parents keep their kids busy with various activities and also keep them in school for a little while, while the parents are still working.
After school programs are really helpful, keeping kids away from delinquency. They can be in a sport team or into another productive club that can help them in their future carriers and even in their life. When I was in high school, I participated in many after school programs because I did not want to be in my house and my parents did want me hanging out in the street. I was in a baseball team, in a cooking class, a Jujitsu class and into a swimming class. While I was into all this activities I was away from criminality but some of my friends was into gangs and doing bad things.
After-school programs can help with preventing delinquency and criminality among adolescents because they can help improve students’ academics at the same time reduce crime by providing a safe supervised environment. Especially for neighborhoods that are dangerous for youth to be outside in, at the same time serve as a safe place. In addition to preventing risky encounters, after-school programs also have the potential to promote positive youth developments such as leadership, work habits, and social-emotional skills. After-school programs could be examined as a space to leverage resources from communities, families, and schools to not only reinforce learning but also promote skills that cannot be learned in the school setting.
Afterschool programs can help prevent delinquency and criminality among adolesents because it can help them find a hobby or a club that they might enjoy. Afterschool programs helps adolesents stay focused in school instead of looking in the streets, where grusome things happen. With these programs, they can find something they can find something they can enjoy or could potentially spark an interest in what they want to be after graduating highschool. Also, it can encourage them to move forward and improve their grades. In the streets, adolesents aren’t going to find any motivation in continuing school but ruine their lives and make wrong choices that could cost them their lives or serve a long sentence in prison.
Afterschool programs can help with preventing delinquency and criminality among adolescents due to it being a way to keep them busy. This way the kids are off the streets and under supervision. This also helps parents who don’t have the money for childcare. This benefits the kids from an academic, emotional, and social standpoint. This is because they can get tutoring and/or play sports and to socialize with others around their age. And all this helps with their development and reduces criminality.
