Dear students, we are in Week 9 of the course. We are following right along with the syllabus. This week we will be looking at the first major branch of criminological theories that are focusing on social determinants of criminal behavior such as economic inequality and anomie. A number of theories fit under the umbrella, such as Durkheim’s theory on anomie, Merton’s social strain theory, and the General Strain Theory. Please find all the materials for this week in unit Week 9.
Your participation in the discussion forum is extremely important. This is your weekly assignment. I have noticed a significant drop in discussion forum participation. Please make sure to post in Discussion Forum 9.
You will get your Exam 2 questions by the end of the week. I will post a separate announcement. Exam 2 will take place next week.
