Please introduce yourselves and post your picture so we know who we’re learning with. Please tell us what your major is, where you are in your time at BMCC (first semester, second year — whatever), what you might be thinking about for a career, where you are from, and what assets you bring to our class. That is, tell us three AWESOME things about yourself. What do you hope to get out of this course? And what do you think may be challenging for you?
Hello class and Prof! My name is Alyssa Ramdat and my major is Criminal Justice. This is my third semester at BMCC and I am thinking of being a cop for my career. I am from Queens, New York and I am an independent hard worker! I am looking forward to this semester. Three awesome things about myself are that I own three dogs. One is an American pit bull terrier and his name is Medly. He dances whenever he hears the song “Sorry” by Justin Bieber. Another awesome thing about me is that salmon is my favorite food. Lastly, I can play the trumpet and saxophone. I hope to get out learning what goes through the minds of criminals and why they committed what they did. Also, the overall gist of Criminology. I don’t know what would be challenging for me as I prepare and try my best for classes. Good luck to everyone!
Hi everyone! My name is Asma Himed, and my major is criminal justice. This is my second year at BMCC. For the time being, I’m considering becoming a lawyer. As always, when I watch the news, I wonder about the reasons behind the crime or any case. And that’s why I like to learn more about how criminals think and the reasons behind their actions. There are awesome things about myself: I speak Arabic (I’m from the Middle East), and I’m lucky compared to those who are learning the language. I like to draw and paint in my free time. I always like to decorate my family’s and friends’ parties. I’m going to give it my all this semester, and hopefully, it’ll be a breeze! 💪📚😊
Nice to meet you Asma! That’s amazing you are considering being a lawyer! You are gonna do great this semester and what a beautiful name.

Hello class, My name is Khalid Jemmott and I’m majoring in Criminal Justice. I am currently a sophomore at BMCC. I am looking to continue a career in public service/ community development. My focus is on the youth and helping provide service for growth. I’m from Brooklyn, NY, Some awesome things about me are that I am an open-minded person willing to broaden my perspective from experience and I am creative. I am hoping to gain insight into the world of criminology. I want to be able to learn the foundation to critically think about how crime affects society. I believe that by taking this course I will gain fundamental knowledge of why people commit crimes and what factors lead to that point. The research aspect will be challenging for me.
Hi guys, my name is Manifer Triunfel, but I like it when people call me Criss. My major is Criminal Justice and this is my second semester on BMCC. I’m from Dominican Republic so I’m a social person but also consider myself as a shy person. I hope this class makes me feel comfortable and secure. One thing to say about myself is that once I was a child I wanted to be a police Officer for the reasons that most of the members of my family were police officers in the past and because I like justice, so I think I would be a good police officer taking the fair options to solve problems.
And this is me!
Heyyyy manifer, I’m Tati. Nice to meet you! Im excited to be learning with you all and cannot wait to learn more about you in the future!
Hello fellow classmates and prof. My name is Jamal and I’m majoring in criminal justice. This is my second semester here at BMCC. My goal is to become a police officer and eventually a detective or work at a federal agency. I am born and raised in the Bronx and feel i can bring a new perspective to this class in any topic we encounter. I am the proud owner of a Python named Kaido who’s just over a year old now, I’m very energetic and overall upbeat in even the dimmest of times, I enjoy writing poetry in my free time. In this course I wish to understand more about the criminal mindset and find context similarities between those of different backgrounds.
I can’t seem to copy and paste a picture of myself for whatever reason and since I’m also having trouble logging in to Open labs i can’t set an account picture however my instagram is
@jvaem.natural which fun fact is an anagram for my name.
Nevermind I got it. Nice meeting you all, have a good semester
Hello, my name is Livia Pantano and my major is psychology. I am from Brooklyn born and raised. This is my last semester at BMCC as I graduate after this fall semester. As for my career choice, it has taken me a while to finally figure out my passion as well as the best career for me, and that would be nursing. I am hoping to use what I have learned as a psychology major and apply it to the responsibilities I will have as a nurse. I see myself as a very passionate and hard worker as well as someone who is always open to learning new and interesting things. As such, I think I will highly enjoy this course and the discussions as a class we may have going forward. I think no matter how organized or good at school you may be time management always finds a way to get you, so personally I think that is still a challenge of mine that I face but am looking at improving. I wish everyone an amazing semester! ( My profile picture includes a picture of me, and my boyfriend because I can never seem to find any of me alone haha)
Hi Livia,
I am also a psychology major and live in Brooklyn. It’s nice to see something in common with someone else. I hope your semester goes excellent and that your career journey is successful. It is beautiful to hear that you want to be a nurse that’s a great field. I am looking to help others in whatever career path I choose as well.
Hello everyone my name is Alexis. As a psychology major, I am in my second year and last semester at BMCC. I was always interested in law or becoming a therapist but my career goal is to be able to help others. I am still searching for that one thing that I can enjoy and make an impact at the same time. I was born in the Bronx and raised there as a child but from my teens to now I live in Brooklyn. I hope to bring delightful discussions and share kindness and support with classmates. I like to travel. I have been to Panama which is where my father is from, and Las Vegas within my 20 years in this world. I am half Panamanian. I am an auntie to a lot of nephews and nieces. I like creative writing for fun and to express myself. One of my favorites to watch is Law and Order so I am hoping to learn the difference between television and the real world of crime. How is crime properly analyzed? It will be interesting to learn about the criminal mind and why crime takes place. There can be many reasons so hopefully, we can narrow it down in class. I just started a new internship so I hope I can find the work and school balance which I know is going to be challenging but worth it.
Hello everyone, my name is Elizabeth Guiracocha. This is my last semester here at BMCC, my current major is liberal arts but after I’m done with this year I plan on transferring and studying psychology. I hope to become a therapist one day and help a lot of people try and overcome any emotional challenges they may face. I was born here in New York City but my ethnicity is Ecuadorian. Some things about me are, when I feel emotionally overwhelmed I like to write it down in a book somewhere to have some control over my feelings, I am currently working part-time in a job at fast food service, and I enjoy dancing even though I’m not too good at it. During this course, I hope to learn more about the criminal justice system and the way it works and I think managing my time might be a bit challenging.
Please introduce yourselves and post your picture so we know who we’re learning with.
