In my point of view, critical thinking is the process of organizing our thoughts between rational and irrational for the better. Critical thinking is not only lead just by emotions but by logical facts as well. Critical thinking as defined by Dr. Richard Paul is the art of analyzing and evaluating thinking with a view to improving it. It helps us to not only look into our own thinking but the thinking of others. In the second video, the speaker, Jesse Richardson states we need to teach kids how to think, not what to think. I whole heartedly agree with that statement. Both speakers emphasize that there is an art and creativity to critical thinking. Individuality is the fact that we do have our own thought process. You can give everyone the same problem but their thought process can lead them to a plethora of different solutions. As we get older our views and the way we think change. On a personal level, I believe it’s best to question every thought we have. Is that the best idea? What are the possible outcomes that stems from this particular idea? We are always able to change our approach to our thoughts. We are aware.
Critical thinking simplified to me is how the first author says it is , a critical thought.A very deep thought that can be analyzed and interpreted deeper and better the more it is discussed or thought of.It can also be taking an interpretation and taking it to the next level with more analysis. The first author describes critical thinking a way of being able to analyze how different perspectives think on a topic and also how that thought can be evaluated and analyzed deeper and deeper. The second author describes critical thinking as making new connections in thinking critically of that thought or idea.I think both authors deeply believe that critical thinking is an important tool to further understand and learn more about how different people think.
