Conv 8 Manveer Saini

Summary

In "Leave No Trace" trailer it presents around the conflict between the father whose name is Will a war veteran from Iraq with PTSD and he who has a teenage daughter whose name is Tom. They were found as shown in the trailer living a secluded life in the forest park which is immediately put a stop to once they were discovered by authorities and forced to live in a civilized manner with society as the forest park is part of public property. As we see the two in the trailer being given a place to live Will still struggles to adapt and return to isolation in which he gains comfort. Whereas his daughter Tom is still at the age where she us still growing, learning and should be given opportunities for her social growth but all of that is leading to the dilemma of whether they should even isolate themselves because although Will is coping through this method of isolation, Tom is leaving behind such rare opportunity to live an ordinary life to follow her father's way of life.

1. I would follow my conscience: If you are acting according to your conscience then you will be sympathetic to the father and daughter who wish to live freely and support their choice of life as it is their own freedom.

2. I don’t know what I would do: You are undecided and may be stuck between societal norms that stick to living a civilized way of life and the father's desire for isolation for the sake of comfort and claiming his own freedom.

3. I would do whatever would improve my own situation: If you are claiming it's for the sake of improving their own situation then it their way of living can be excused as it is for personal fulfillment.

4. I Would Do What God or the Scriptures Say Is Right: If you are following God or the Scriptures say is right then God has given them the free choice to live as they want but the situation can change if some religions have a spiritual duty.

5. I Would Do Whatever Made Me Happy: If you are seeking for a happy ending then naturally you would support the father and daughter's choices to live in isolation since it brings them happiness rather than living according to societies rules which could threaten their well-being.

6. I would follow the advice of an authority figure: If you are claiming to follow an authority figure then the father and daughter are not in position of holding the power of an authority figure since only those who enforce laws hold those powers. So naturally as showed in the trailer they would be send off to live a civilized live. And once the father and daughter abandon that way of life again the authority figures forced their way to be finding them and bringing them back to that way of life.

7. I would do what’s best for everyone: I think that if you want the best for everyone then that would be to let the father and daughter continue their way of life as it brings no losses to anyone involved.

If I was in the situation as a civilized kid I cannot last without a bed, a roof on top of me and food. Naturally for the sake of myself I would go back to civilization because I'm being offered the care I can get. How is that not a good opportunity. Naturally I would base my decision on the authority figure because even though I don't what's best for you I still want you to grow up as a kid who can meet all her needs at that age. The moral value of this situation emphasizes the need to follow the advice of those in authority as the belief becomes that they are knowledgably and have the experience to make decisions that are in the best interests of society. As according to this trailer of the movie "leave no track" leaving the decisions to the authorities shows they have a broader perspective on what is best for the community and the father and daughter's well-being. It displays an ethical viewpoint and that there is intrinsic value in preserving social structure in which regulations are accepted and complies with, this assumption also grows stronger that such a system is eventually for the greater good which conflicts with will's and his daughter's decision. The moral compass demonstrates the communal responsibility and trust in authorities.
