there are various moral dilemmas in the movie “moonlight” I want to focus on chirons relationship with his mother and how her previous actions continue to effect him and him having to chose his course of action moving forward in the relationship
- I would follow my conscience: Chiron might choose to forgive his mother because it aligns with his inner sense of what is morally right and allows him to let go of the burden of anger and resentment.
- I don’t know what I would do: Chiron might struggle to come to a decision, feeling torn between his desire for closure and his lingering pain from the past.
- I would do whatever would improve my own situation: Chiron could choose to cut ties with his mother if he believes that maintaining a relationship with her would only bring further pain and turmoil into his life.
- I Would Do What God or the Scriptures Say Is Right: If Chiron holds religious beliefs that emphasize forgiveness he may decide to forgive his mother as an act of faith and obedience to his religious teachings.
- I Would Do Whatever Made Me Happy: Chiron might prioritize his own emotional well-being and choose forgiveness as a way to find peace and happiness within himself.
- I would follow the advice of an authority figure: Chiron may seek guidance from someone he trusts, like Teresa or Kevin, and follow their advice on whether to forgive his mother or not.

In this situation, I would follow my conscience. Forgiveness can be a great tool for personal healing and growth, if Chiron feels that forgiving his mother is the right choice for him to move forward with his life, then it’s important for him to honor that for his future selfs sake. Holding onto anger and resentment is only self sabotaging while forgiveness can offer a sense of peace. by forgiving his mother Chiron is being open for growth in the relationship.
