Summary
The fallacy of Ad Hominem is one of the more obviously erroneous arguments. It attacks our moral sensibilities in a very direct way that is almost immediately repulsive and noticeable to those who witness this fallacy being put to use in an argument. Very simply, this fallacy is the attempt to undermine a person's argument by attacking their character. Because its irrelevance to the argument necessarily inheres in these attacks, it is often very easy to notice and combat. A good example would be if someone were to make an argument for the existence of God and then, someone stands up and begins to attack the person's character as "evidence" that the speaker doesn't even really believe what they're saying, because if they did, they wouldn't be such a rotten, thieving, liar and adulterer.
