Assignment #7
The fallacy I chose is “appeal to nature”. It’s basically believing and making an argument that only natural things are great and anything besides that is not good. A good example of people who use this fallacy would be an anti in-vitro people. Who claim that this method of having biological children is not natural and it shouldn’t be used by people who struggle with having kids because it’s against the nature. What is more they even state that kids who were conceived by in-vitro method are not real humans. I strongly disagree with these people, they have no idea how struggling with having own kids hurt people, physically and mentally. It’s a long way to go through in- vitro and the kids who were born because of this method are the same as any other kids on this planet. Just because something isn’t “natural”, doesn’t mean that its bad. With the technology we have nowadays we can help people in almost every aspect of their life and that’s what matters. We can not define what is natural what is not and what is good or bad.
If that makes people happy why would anyone care and be against it?
