Nicholas Blake DB#5 Arguments

In “The Paradox of Choice” by Barry Schwartz from TEDTalk, Mr. Schwartz’s conclusion of the argument was “The way to maximize freedom is to maximize choice”. His premises were “the more choice people have, the more freedom they have, and the more freedom they have, the more welfare they have. In the CNBC article titled “From the ‘perfect’ salary to keeping up with the Joneses, here’s how money really affects your happiness”, the author’s conclusion was “The idea is that you need money to meet basic needs, such as access to healthcare and a safe place to live”. The premise said “If you grow up without resources like food, clothing or shelter, then having more money really makes a huge difference in your life and overall well-being”.

People need to make a choice in terms of how they want to live their lives. A person needs to work in order to make a living. When you work, you have a place to stay. When you get paid, you get the freedom to buy whatever you want. You have a choice and you need to choose it wisely. Having money in your bank is a life changer as you don’t have to worry about running out of resources.
