According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, there are eight competencies students should master to show they are career-ready for today’s workforce. In addition to providing a new, global dimension to a course, COIL allows for hands-on practice of various skills, including communication, teamwork, interpersonal, digital literacy and problem-solving skills.
In order to better position COIL as a tool for career readiness, the Office of Internships and Experiential Learning has developed an assessment tool for students participating in a COIL project. Reach out to jlevin@bmcc.cuny.edu for more information.
